That's right, and only produced to save face. They'll use existing STD sets and ones built for Picard show, but STD will be quietly cancelled once these are done. The budget for the entire season is $80 million, which works out to $4 million an episode, a far cry from what they were spending in S1.

STD is a cancer on the franchise, a festering boil and you'd have to be blind not to see the panic behind the scenes on the show. These YouTube channels have had high profile guests on, including the director of Wrath of Khan, they obviously know what they're talking about, and they also aren't afraid to speak the truth about the shit state that STD has brought the franchise to.
They don't need to build new sets, its the same ship throughout the story. They need to air the show on freeview so more people can see it.

In yesterday's midnight edge interview with somebody who worked on TNG and other star trek movies and media, the guy states that STD is completely against the politics of TNG and cites the mansplaining scene as a big difference.

The entire series is everyone saying "we should follow protocol" and Michael suddenly coming up with a fucking genius idea like she's a God. She can do no wrong. When people don't listen to her, disaster occurs. It's incredible.
