That's pretty much it. Rambo even admits to himself that he has no real justification, he was just lashing out and wanted to die fighting.

Of course, in the book him snapping was MUCH more violent and lethal than in the movie. He eviscerates the cop that tried to give him a shave, and completely wipes out the first search party (only the sheriff survived).

He made those cops swerve off during the chase scene and their car blew up
