No Prisoner fans on Yea Forums? What a shame.

sorry only reason I know anything about the prisoner is because of reboot

The original series is all on YouTube. It's very good.

Pure Genius. We don't deserve the prisoner. when you watch the bat shit brilliant last episode, keep in mind this was shown on network tv.

god i hope not

One of my favorite shows as a teenager. My local library had the whole set. That show was such a wonderful mindfuck. CIA probably took notes.

The Prisoner is so god damn good.

I AM NOT A NUMBER I AM A FREE MAN

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

They tried a remake, it was fuckawful and had no brilliance. They need a real auteur to remake if they ever do. Someone who understands the whimsical, paranoid, and colorful insanity that made the village great. Maybe someone like noe even.m

they need to just leave it alone and not remake it

They lost the soul entirely. The remake even remade the balloon. And fucking dropout can realize the balloon monster was the physical threat side of omnipresent surveillance. They should have built a whole new idea around that rather than just copy it.

Yea I agree.

but rover was badass. it would seem odd is he wasn't in it. they should have just not remade it, but since they did it would only make sense to have rover in it.

>Sorry, just one more thing before I forget... why did you resign?

Attached: Columbo.jpg (720x540, 71K)

Yes it should be in it, but a remake needs to capture the spirit of rover in an artistically unique and updated way, not just copy it. It looks dated

A daring synthesis.

Who was the best Number 2?

I like how they kept lava lamps around specifically to keep the Village's prisoners on edge by reminding them about the constant possibility of Rover being deployed to suffocate you to death. Noticing all the little passive-aggressive ways the Village fucked with you were maybe the best part of the show.

You even have to ask that?

Number 6 was /fa/ as fuck.

Right, but in the 2009 remake he wasn't a physical threat, he was a psychological one Six imposed on himself, representing his desire to stay in the village and not escape. So, that's just not great.

I know it's a pleb answer, but I liked McKern best. My second favorite though was that lady who went through the trouble of evacuating the entire island and getting 6 to stage an elaborate, multi-day long escape where he went adrift at sea, washed up on some shore, and eventually managed to hitch another ride and make his way back home only to end up returning by plane to the Village in an effort to persuade his skeptical colleagues it really existed with one or more of them being in on it with that lady 2 and ejecting him from the plane back to his imprisonment, all as some fucked up mock birthday present for him.

Many Happy Returns!

what the FUCK did teletubbies mean by using the same type of announcer?

It’s not pleb at all. He was just the best. Fuck, that’s why they brought him back. Some let edgy rare number 2 might be good(like the woman even), but he was the b3st, bar none.

I liked the one from A, B, and C who did the dream control stuff.

Noe could never grasp the bizarre fairytale atmosphere of the show. I would still watch his take because it would doubtless be visually awesome and full of weird sex, but I don't think he suits. If I had to pick a modern director to do a series it would be Ben Wheatley.

The Atlas statue too.

Hmm yea, I was just going off the top of my head about who took enough psychedelics, I could see Ben though.

Also

>tfw you don’t have a vote no.6 pin

I’d watch a Dennis Kelley (utopia) written take desu.

I would like to hear opinions on the final episode.

Haven't seen Utopia, is it actually good?

I know this isn’t /r/ but anyone know were I can find shattered visage download (the comic set after the village falls)

Anyone else notice some weird editing in this show? Like weird dubbing and strange cuts?

Visually tight (it’s own language) great music, interesting story that can drag a bit of meh politics in. Overall it was pretty decent although not without its problems. It’s been a while though and I never got around to the second series.

It's very editing-forward. I guess the idea is since the whole series is highly allegorical and theatrical there's no point in getting hyperrealistic.

Not a download but you can read it in full

They do a great job capturing paranoia. Watch the opening scene.

All you need is love.

Thanks user!

McKern is good, but my favorite is probably this smug fop from the chess episode. What a twat.

It was an act.

Movie and TV icon Patrick McGoohan had his Scanners co-star Jennifer O'Neill in tears on the set of the cult 1981 film by ripping into her for marrying three times.
A fervent Catholic, The Prisoner star took exception to O'Neill's personal life and didn't hold back in letting her know.
Director David Cronenberg recalls, "He had extreme Catholic views about sexuality, which came onto the set.
"My leading lady... came to me incredibly distraught and said, 'Patrick said, 'Are you a whore? Are you a slut?' And he started to lay into her because she'd had, like, five husbands.
"That was Patrick, and those were the things I had to deal with as a relatively young director. He was probably the most difficult actor I ever worked with, though he gave a fantastic performance."
At the time, O'Neill had wed three times. She went on to marry another two men and has been wed to Mervin Louque since 1997.

>Married nine times to eight men

how the fuck does this even add up?
that is LITERALLY from her wiki page
patty is fucking BASED

Holy fucking based.

How the fuck does 6 sleep? Everytime he does, the Village plots some nefarious psychological torture.

everyone gets tired eventually

I bet he sleeps just fine.

There's a lot of hangtime between some of the episodes also. For every day we see, there's probably a couple weeks where nothing much happened in 6's life.

The real story in The Prisoner isn't the madness in the village itself, but 6s indignance in the face of what ever it throws at him and his ability to shove the medicine each 2 tries to dish out, straight back down their throats. He was the ultimate difficult cunt played by the ultimate difficult cunt and I can't imagine another actor who could convey that sufficiently.
