I have a Blu-ray player. DVDs are cheaper and the quality is going to be shitty on older films anyway so the money to make it less shitty isn't worth it.

Also I like the convenience. Watching my movies on a separate device means more resources on my computer to do something else.

Also I've never been able to eliminate frame tearing when watching videos on my PC. Even when I do torrent shit, I put it on a stick and plug it into one of my blu-ray players, unless I have no choice and the codec isn't supported.

Most of these torrentfags probably don't even have a proper TV, much less anything resembling an actual home theater.

I had to start somewhere; I bought the films I really liked along the way. Some where obviously ones I enjoyed during my childhood that I wanted in my collection because they're actually good quality films. I'd like to branch out to some more obscure and "intellectual" type films but it's VERY hit and miss when you deviate from the imdb rating system.

After 9 years out of the psyical purchase market ive dived back in now I have a 4k TV and sound system, to test it out I have ordered;

Dark Knight Trilogy, Warcraft and Avengers Infinity War, what other film are out that will really push the 4k on me? Netflix & Prime Video have sucky choices.

If you want to test drive your system then check out Annihilation and jizz out your ears at how good it sounds. Looks great too.

I love Akira for the beautiful animation and music, but honestly the story makes no sense. If you read the comics (6 phone book sized graphic novels) it has a clear start middle and finish. All the characters from the movie who you don't know wtf their importantance is make sense and have a story arc.

So yeah the movie is cool, lots of action and beautiful hand drawn animation and deserves credit for being the first big anime to hit the west with success but story wise it really doesn't make sense and is really a mess of a movie. Worth watching for the great animation tho

The only 4k movie I own is Leon because it came bundled with a bluray disc. I don't own a 4K player.

Thrift stores are cool sometimes. I found a Chinese release of Disney's Alice in Wonderland. I don't go to that specific store anymore though cause one of the employees sperged at me yelling "NOT AGAAAAAIN!" when I grabbed a dvd case to look at it cause they were autistic I guess and to them it was like I just kicked their sand castle.

I recommend going to rogerebert dut cum. His Great Movies list is pretty solid. Just about anything with a 3.5 or 4 star rating is worth it.
