I'm starting to think having no sequel has a bittersweet silver lining. This film was so beautiful it might be best if this was it. There's no chance for it to go down hill.
i will support avatar 2, 3, and 4 just for this alone. how they fucking made something this cute is beyond me.
Chase Price
My thoughts exactly Alita walked on a very thin line and ended up being this unbelievable film It would be almost impossible for any sequel to live up to ABA and very easy to take a wrong step and ruin it Even if we don't get the sequel (which I think we will and I hope it is good or at least not bad) we already won so much by having experienced Alita
Benjamin Perez
If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to see it b4 the 7th bc Disney pulls everything except Cpt Marvel out
thank you home slice I know, that's why I love it. Such an understated, quick scene.
Xavier Baker
this movie is SJW you damn shills >strong woman protagonist >diverse nation oppressed by what is almost certainly whiteys up above >bad guy says "nothing personal it's just business" >pro war This is fucking leftist af don't fall for it. I'm warning you niggers, you niggers are getting shilled on with this "general" created by the fucking viral team.
honestly the one where she wanted to give him her heart. It was cute, but too forced, the romance wasn't that developed at that point and she'd just die for some dude she just met
i would agree if it wasn't for the fact that she's basically only been alive for a few days in her own perspective so that would mean she would have known and been in love with hugo for p much most of her remembered life. plus her character is one that's balls to the wall emotional so it's a given that she would act that way.
Adrian Wilson
yeah, it's hard not to get irrationally angry at a what is just a dumb movie that doesn't affect my life
Ryder Moore
>Didn't include his backstory about being born in the sewer and being burned so bad that his skin melted off his bones, hence for his complete hate for humanity and cyborgs that live in scrap city.
>Didn't include the part that Desty Nova saved his life and turned him into the parasite worm cyborg.
>she'd just die for some dude You misunderstood the scene user. She even specifically said she'd get a cheaper heart in the deal, not that she'd kill herself. She was offering the only thing she had of immense value.
Jordan Watson
>actor is best for part because he or she looks like the animated character go away Yea Forumsermin
Thomas Adams
How did the motorball guy with the heat cannon die?
Why people seem to dislike this fight? Alita fucking shit up is always great to see.
Xavier Williams
Nice, user!
Ethan Lewis
no that's a pretty shitty scan
wait a minute and let me make a better one from the digital edition
Cooper Diaz
That flashback scene with Alita the first getting killed by the random motorball player who wanted drugs. Nothing in that scene made any sense and Ido's description of the events contradicted with the events being shown.
Josiah Collins
Just started reading the manga and I thought grewiska was makaku but it was changed because he was too edgy for anime or movie, I guess I should keep on reading
John King
K, but no one was talking about. Wanted to point it out.
Dylan Myers
Based Zerker Hugo telling his buddies he's quitting
Christopher Barnes
... well shit
Carter Lewis
They did? I loved this scene, it was a nice reminder of how much of an advanced weapon Alita is
Luis Martinez
Any scene with Jennnifer
As she did was stare at Alita menacingly and her character was boring and irrelevant as fuck, her only notable line was something about mothers and nurses
Matthew Sullivan
I didn't notice it.
Nicholas Thompson
>I'm a mother Maybe she did want to be a mom for Alita Healing knows no boundaries
Levi Walker
She jumped the shark skillswise. Belongs in an inferior movie. Shoulda been replaced with a longer grewishka fight.
James Taylor
He's based off the OVA not the manga, the manga tries too hard to explain everyone's backstory to say nobody is inherently evil they just have difference experiences that shaped them.
Carter Peterson
ED-209 fans getting wrecked by a liveaction anime girl.
Sebastian Jackson
The only thing that really irked me about this movie, and kept throwing me was the fashion/clothing. Besides the main characters, especially Chiren and Vector, everyone wore pretty much normal 2019 style street clothes. It was like zero effort was made to make the fashion seem even remotely futuristic. There was one scene near the beginning that literally looked like a bunch of American tourists in Hawaiin shirts and shorts in Cuba.
Jonathan Robinson
Grewiska was a heap of iron, a clumsy weapon, not a match for an advanced cyber warrior like Alita
Lucas Rogers
I don't mind Every time movies try to predict the future they just end up being BTFO Plus alita's pink shirt a cute
Brody Morris
For some reason, didn't really catch on to this first couple viewings, how Alita's love and protection of others unfortunately ends up with those dead. Happened first with the dog and then Hugo.
True, but on the other hand, what else can you do?
Christian Sanchez
He never dies in the manga, but he does lose his memories. Wonder if they'll keep that in the movies.
Easton Harris
that just means after the fall we ended up in a new Dark Age where we haven't progressed culturally from the present, aside from technology.
Robert Sullivan
I don't hate it, but it's not exactly next level like the Motorball sequence where Rodriguez took a long time to study all the shots
Cooper Williams
Her previous fight was doll body + no sword and she still did really well against grewishka With berserkers body and damascus sword she really is an unstoppable power however, so it is only fitting that she made a joke out of Vector's security and Grewishka Sequels will have to give her a worthy enemy
Matthew Thompson
>I don't want blood on this hands >but that's in the past, you are given a chance to a new life You can't escape your destiny, Alita is a tragedy
Yeah I get that, the crowd scenes were too big to have futuristic style clothing and designs. It's a necessary evil, but just took me out of the fantasy a little when everything else was well realized.
Jack Howard
Me want
Matthew Wilson
I only dislike it because it was so short.
Andrew Scott
Honorable mention of the World War II veteran with service uniform at the bar.
Jaxson Jenkins
Rey would have saved them both she can't be shown to fail ever
Cameron fags have a mental illness and need to be executed
Lucas Martin
everything in that scene is just great
Nicholas Lopez
>It's gotten so bad that Korra is now a moderate mary sue.
Jaxson Young
one of my favorite scenes, thank you user
Chase Cook
I love that disgusted face
Christian Price
I can absolutely see this happen >I don't mean to be rude, but I am supposed to know you?
Jaxson Ross
imagine if you knew anything about casting
James Nelson
I hope she can overcome tragedy to save those she loves though. However the grimdark Mad Max approach could be fucking kino if done right.
Chase Butler
I wish Hugo's first line of dialogue had been literally any other word of phrase synonymous with 'Outstanding' like what the fuck was that choice of word
Blake Fisher
The Genesis of Alita is tragedy and so is everything forward in the story. The world is so messed up that she can do little to change it, only perceive it.
Christian Jones
Hearing this in IMAX was another level. You're surrounded by it.
Blake Sanders
go and see Alita, you know you want to it will appease your anger
You're just mad tranny that an actual tumor baby is more closer to a female than you'll ever be with your mutilated pus pit. Keep dilating away until you man up to neck yourself. Tick tock tranny.
I wonder if Rosa actually made that kick, I know she trained a lot, but it must have been a pro martial artist, it's too good
Nathaniel Rivera
I thought it was over the top. It could have been just one Mech and just as fun. Security Bots have way more steel than cyborgs but they were equally sliced through.
Aiden Gomez
Stop trying to lump BR2049 together with this mediocre flick
Ian Martin
Alright anons I got to go to bed, keep the thread going overnight if you can. I'll make some more .webms tomorrow, but for now, have a super smug laughing Alita.
That was a mean thing to say now that I look back on it. I take it back. Enjoy yourselves, I shouldn't shit on what you like. I'll never watch it though. Filtered, no offense, just getting annoying.
Wyatt Stewart
And is a boy as per hollywood tradition.
Ethan Morales
It would be a whole lot less annoying if you saw it and figured out why people love it.
>The blade is honed to a monomolecular edge that slices through armor like butter.
Mix that with the plasma from the Berserker body and there is probably nothing she couldn't cut
Lucas Morales
Do we have any info on how long the BD version of the movie will be? A director's cut version? An uncut version?
Easton Roberts
what are your favourite Alitas? Mine is the one where she is standing surprised, but not upset, almost excited, her fists covered with the blood of her enemies
you're the only good anti-Alita poster; go to your grave knowing that
Caleb Stewart
it was said earlier but this^ Alita; where she realized how combat capable she was; smug Alita and last but not least, realizing that Nova is her true enemy and slicing off Grewishka's grind cutters.
Dominic Lopez
Fucking amazing
Never been to the hoyts one
4dx is a gimmic, but a very cheap one which makes the movie more enjoyable. This is the 3rd time I've watched it and the motorball scenes with 4dx seats is fixing amazing - like nothing else.
This is exactly why this technology was invented
Also yes that box is popcorn
This may be the first time ever ever bought any food or drinks at the cinema, but I did it just to have that box
Cooper Kelly
Has Alita defeated the uncanny valley? She doesnt look weird or strange
Yes, after a point you forget that she is not real The only scenes were she looked like a doll and a 3D character were when she was sitting on the side watching the roller skirmish and when she was giggling on top of Hugo's bike (but both scenes were so short that I don't think they broke the illusion)
Benjamin Wood
Somebody needs to convince Ethan Van Sciver to tell his YouTube subscribers to go see Alita instead of Captain Marvel next weekend. Hell, he would probably already be doing it if he had seen it himself.
Alexander Ross
Nova isn't her true enemy. Nova was driven to insanity by finding out he has a chip for a brain. True enemy is the computer A.I. at the end of the space elevator
Justin Anderson
As was her delivery of it.
Robert Allen
well, she doesn't know that yet
Brody Gonzalez
no she looked like a doll in her movements at least for much of the first act and in her facial expressions too. like when she hugs the dog and reads the bounty pamphlet, she legit looks plastic. she also kinda moves like a baby (esp. when first waking up) and a little girl in a lot of those early scenes.
>looking at the ground when she first meets hugo >when she kisses ido on the cheek then later rests her head on ido evrn though shes naked anfd has BIG purple chichis >when she first wakes up >how she laughs when the green motorball guy slams into her screen
May I add >when hugo is showing her around on the motorball pits and he has to leave and she can't stop smiling like a silly girl because she is in love with him and he tells her to hang out together the next day and she keeps smiling with all her face and thanks him for everything I just liked her reaction so much, imagine having that effect on a woman, it must feel nice
Nicholas Moore
Nah she's perfect as Griffith's cock sleeve
Wyatt Ortiz
>mfw Rosa had to squat here in motion caption suit and everyone had to keep a straight face
>buy a printer >buy some white t-shirt >buy some of these special iron-on shirts >print your alita >iron-on your alita Or go to a shop that makes t-shirt with your graphics
Wyatt Sanders
It just occurred to me, after watching the anime and then watching the movie again, that Hugo starts referring to her as "Ally" and then after the first time he did it, the way he says it becomes indistinguishable from "Gally".
Wait until Alita play the "Gally's song" using Hugo's memento harmonica.
Adam Foster
I want the gunm tee that cameron is wearing on the set of avatar
Josiah Ramirez
I see Mouse swarm in thread. What happen?
Nathan Peterson
well sure if you're so keen to show of your power-level then go ahead
Jeremiah Flores
Can someone explain to me the obsession towards this movie on this board?
I mean, I know captain Marvel is shit, but why Alita? Isn't it another "transformers" kind of shit with tons of 3d effects? Is it because of the character?
Joseph Gonzalez
So is everyone going to see this on Wednesday as a fuck off to capeshit marvel?
Jayden Smith
The best 3D you can find and Alita has a big heart.
Jeremiah Rivera
I can't speak for the others, I just loved the film, it was almost life a film from a bygone era
Jeremiah Lewis
I'm contemplating of going a 6th time on Friday if I find a cinema that plays it, just for a last farewell to Alita
Carson Martinez
CM advertises like crazy in my area. They built a booth on the ground floor blasting music throughout the mall. It's funny that no one pays attention to that booth.
Julian Reed
> Isn't it another "transformers" kind of shit with tons of 3d effects?
This was my initial impression after seeing the trailers.
But the movie has a lot of heart. It's far from a masterpiece like some other anons here might argue, but it's a good time. It reminded me of those low budget fantasy movies from the early-mid 90s that I'd watch on TV as a kid; a breath of fresh air, albeit nostalgia-infused.
Why did it take until this movie to get positive female rolemodels in blockbusters? >lol captain marvel
Connor Jenkins
>It's far from a masterpiece like some other anons here might argue Does anyone really? I don't think so. The flaws are too minor to shit on them but it's not a masterpiece.
its nowhere near a masterpiece from an objective perspective. Its extremely cheesy, but its made with heart and looks great.
Caleb Baker
Sincere story Beautiful, bright characters. Reconciled action. But in general, it is wonderful. This is almost forgotten art of cinema. Lost storytelling technology.
Jayden Diaz
This is a very nice assessment Not everyone will fall in love with Alita, I understand that, but the film is definitely well crafted and even if the rest of the story or the nostalgia doesn't make it for you the effects and the visuals are worth it And there is always a big chance to fall in love with it, the film has some special quality that wakes up a part of you that you thought was gone a long time ago
Evan Sullivan
>but it's not a masterpiece I'm biased, I understand that, and most won't agree with me, but for me it's a masterpiece (but that's my personal opinion, shaped by my experiences)
Connor Jones
It's incelcore. When Alita offered her heart to Hugo I literally cried in the theater.
James Cox
In my last viewing (5th) I was ready to cry in many scenes The rest of the day I was playing in my head the Lullaby for a Soldier song and my eyes were wet the whole day youtube.com/watch?v=mY9X9Ud8UWk
I think Rosa loves Alita just as much as we do. Maybe more, she's apparently a big fan of the manga too.
Ian Watson
>this is not a swan song I know it's a huge million dollar project but I feel that this song were the producers and creators being so proud and sure about their creation that they wanted to tell everyone who had doubts and spelled doom for Alita that the film is going to make it and will be back with a sequel
Grayson Lee
>loved the movie >made the feel when no gf come back
She's contractually obligated to promote the film like all actors are but I feel like it is genuine (or maybe my love for Alita is clouding my judgement)
Brayden Roberts
How so?
Parker Ward
Nice, it looks cool!
Bentley Morris
>last night I >69 alita
Julian Lopez
I wouldn't mind a sports shirt with that on the back, not sure about front though
I really wanted a #99 motorball jersey and this was just too perfect.
Ryan Fisher
Why not a black/grey one with proper yellow 99?
Justin Anderson
If she bothered to sit through Alita's tumor origins then she can't be that bad.
Jaxson Walker
For me personally, this is a masterpiece. I guess I have a bad taste, but I have so few truly favorite films. There may be no more than twenty or even less. But I immediately understand that the film will be in this number. And Alita, my personal masterpiece.
Jordan Rivera
Why didn't you get yourself pic related, you pleb? Liking a movie doesn't require it to be a masterpiece, user.
Same I am a person who doesn't have a favorite anything No favorite food, song, band, movie, nothing I'm very bland and pedestrian But after watching Alita I have a favorite film now Maybe I'm a pleb but I'm honest here, I liked it so very much I never thought this would happen to me
Tyler Rivera
I Fingered Alita at a nightclub once,
Lincoln Hill
>things that never happened Let me see your hunter-warrior ID holocard You know only hunter-warriors are allowed in the Kansas bar?
>fucking up the thread with mile-long urls nigga really?
James Brooks
>healed by Alita While I want this to be true, it isn't, even Alita can't heal me But I'm grateful she made me feel nice for once
Jayden Sanchez
That would be cool. That'll be my next one. Plz no bully me. Pretty funny though. They were like that in the movie. But i get what youre saying.
Elijah Anderson
I need a new gym/comfy home hoody and I'm really tempted to get this
Jayden Turner
Ah yeh, like the fan shirts from motorball - yeh I didn't think of that
Lucas Sullivan
Good luck out there user. Don't forget the good times you've had with Alita and here
James Ramirez
>talk to colleague about alita >ask if he's going to watch it >"no i'm not interested in racing movies" the later trailers focused too much on that part of the movie
and according to this thread, , >"... The whole time as she's falling is Brie's voice saying over and over louder and louder whisper shouting "MEN AREN'T HERE FOR ME, I AM MY OWN DESTINY" i mean, come on
Well, I'm not into forign politics so I didn't know it could have been a slogan. Do you think US audience linked that line to this ? I don't know what else Hugo could have say in this situation.
French. I'd like to hear the Québec version for the lulz.
Cameron Gomez
>Waltz doesn't dub himself in the German version
why
Sebastian Thomas
They wouldn't afford him
Leo Stewart
Lmaoing@ all the cucks itt who fell for this s.o.i garbage, shitty cgi. I predict a bunch of faggots to replying with some form of >REEEEE no u. Yeah, great job bud, don't strain your sub 10 iq brain too much, otherwise your eyes might bulge out like Ashita
Elijah Perez
>289M
so we're getting a sequel or no
Isaiah Harris
It's just the trailer, in the movie he does dub himself. Don't know why though
Xavier Gray
Jodie Foster dubs all her movies in French for free...
Adrian Morales
>It already broke even then No way. They only get half the domestic money, which it made little of, less in foreign markets and only around quarter in China. If the entire gross so far was domestic it still wouldn’t be breaking even on a 170m budget let alone the foreign and particularly China heavy gross this film has.
Blake Morales
Can confirm. Sounds completely different in the movie. He dubbed himself. Kino.
Eli Clark
if Jim's feelings about Gunnm are legit, then we are getting a sequel no matter what. The modest returns will only postpone the sequel, not kill it imo.
Unfortunately you have the situation where THE MOST PROFITABLE MOVIE OF ALL TIME is getting its sequel a whooping 11 years later. God knows how long it will take until we get Alita 2.
Jose Martin
how can she speaks french better than me?
Robert Johnson
NEW THREAD
Jeremiah Nelson
Thanks for you opinion. Here is your (you).
Gavin Ortiz
not long i think if Rodriguez and Cameron already made the story board
Zachary James
>/ABAG/ bros may witness the sequel alongside their daughters named Alita
Pottery
Brandon Stewart
That's nice to know. It was kind of awesome to hear his voice in the german dub of Basterds.
Leo Kelly
She's the only anglo I know who speaks French without any accent. Actually she speaks better than many French.
Nathan Baker
After this weekends, China will add another 25m, North America 7-8, rest of the world 25m. So we are close 350m breakeven point.
Zachary Carter
there is also the comedian and youtuber Paul Taylor is "What the Fuck France" are so funny
