that faggy thing he always wore around his neck is a portable air conditioner
dont let the bedazzle fool you into thinking its something weird and abstract
didnt know that, but it makes sense. If he didnt have the air conditioner, his face paint would melt
If synthwave brought synth style music back, will industrial metal get the same treatment?
YEAH! you push it

It's not about the music itself, but rather the fact that MTV was already fucking dead by the early 00s when bands like Limp Bizkit were popular.

I miss nothing about this period of MTV.

Wasnt even like that turdbrain. Late 80s MTV had everything. By late 90s MTV was dead.

Back when MTV still showed music.
They literally do not show a single minute of music now. It's Ridiculousness, Catfish, and whatever. Nothing to do with music. I mean, MTV had Real World back then, too, but it still was largely music-oriented.
Oh, well.
IT'S JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS
Anyone remember this one? I tried looking up old episodes recently. Pretty cheesy now but I remember it being spooky.
No music genre has ever truly gone away since the internet became a thing. But, if you mean will industrial metal get mainstream acceptance again, no. In fact, no white genre of rock or metal will ever get mainstream acceptance again. At least, not in the United States.
Loved that show. I try to rewatch episodes around Halloween. That and Scariest Places on Earth.
so he wore a working air conditioner? thats pretty baws
I wish I could find videos/streams of old 90s early morning music video runs/bumpers.
Anyone remember this retard?

MTV before everyone started virtue signalling was pure KINO
Isn't this the American Splendor guy?
Yeah, MTV exploited the fuck out of him during their spring break programming in the early 90's. Totally based.

Probably the OP.
I miss the video for Cryin' by Aerosmith being on all the time.
Pre- 9/11 was a special time in America. You used to be able to set puppers loose in the mall and attack women randomly, rip their clothes off, and force them to serve you fast food.
This was the album that turned me off buying music forever. Spent $18 dollars for literally 1 banger.

I miss when MTV did spring break shit.
I wish The Maxx lasted longer and covered the whole comic series. I read the whole thing last year and it's 10/10, probably the best comic I've ever read.
It was all total shit 2bh, worst part of junior and high school. If that's what you can do and be popular it deserved to die.

Why did 9/11 have to ruin everything?
Yeah it wasnt the best, but its miles ahead of the negroid music we get today.

>He's going through the mid-late 20s (early 30s if he's slow) crisis of "everything i liked so just so cringe omg how could i like that"
You'll get through it buddy. You'll realise it's not as bad as you think and you will realise that everything you've done has helped shape your current self. Don't go hating on your past simply because you want to look cool to a bunch of retards on the internet (or real life).
You liked what you liked. Move the fuck on.

i see what you're saying. think a big part of it was just the music videos because they were interesting at least. plus middleschool me and peers really didn't develop some sort of music taste so we had whatever was on TV or the radio.
Thank you user for these nostalgia feels.

wait till you hit 40. You'll start liking shit you listened to when you were 7-10yo, but dropped as an edgy teenager. Being a late Gen-Xer, it feels pretty good. Get to rock out to hair bands and synth pop right just when it's sorta retro hip again.

Not everything was cringe though, there's a reason the reboot and remake train stops at about the 90's. A lot of other things were cool at the time (we're still jacking off over lotr almost 20 years later), the popular music was just legitimately terrible. I hope none of my friends are still listening to it when they're 50.

I never liked them much either, they just seemed to stake out the "artsy" ie slower and whinier part of the niche. Maybe I'm autistic, music didn't seem to grab me like it did other people.
That video was when I (as a small child) realized "live performance in crowd" are completely fake. It made absolutely no sense that an (previously) unknown band would be able to amass that many fans to come out for their debut single music video, or that greater than 1/3 of a hardcore band's fan base is made up of extremely attractive women who wear dresses.
i'm dealing with it fine. there are plenty of pleb faggots on here so i'm used to it

it had one good cartoon (Beavis and Butthead) and several bad cartoon/programs (liquid television, aeon flux, the maxx, the head, the real world) before becoming complete cancer (my super sweet 16)

Heh, good times.
Imagine just being able to do anything without people filling anything over 1 second of “wasted time” pulling their phone out.

Fuck man. I miss it.
I miss when the internet was not filled with whiny entitled faggots getting "offended" by everything.
This also aired in the uk and was funny as fuck.

But now is so much better, now they teach values and stuff
32 here bro. I work with young people daily. Humanity is heading to a fucking break down and everyone just pretends it’s a non issue.
Based
This. Around 2014 certain music, namely music by black people with just the slightest bit of social commentary, was now "woke" and got featured on NPR and major outlets for political discussion, and the acts started performing at Democratic Party events. This was different than the political "woke" acts of the 90s or 00s, mostly punk rock or lesbian/riot grrrl shit that no adult listened to and never got covered in non-MTV or music and entertainment outlets. Now older millennials and Gen Xers in their 40s proudly broadcast how they listen to Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce and play it for their kids.
But this is what will kill rap and most r&b within 5 years, being socially approved is a death sentence for teenage popularity.

isnt it already heading that way? i always see zoomers praising soundcloud and internet rap now, stuff that isnt socially approved as such.
Adding this the Internet Boom (YouTube, Instagram) practically shatted over music videos (since people can watch it easily on the computers)
Straight up retard.

wow you guys are pretty young
90-98 was pure kino MTV except all the gangster rap dogshit
youtube.com
I looked at that as a Instagram phenomenon, but you're right: once kids start obsessively looking for underground, local, or up and coming acts within a given genre, that's a sure sign it will be dead in a couple years because the genre as a while has lost credibility. Same thing happened to glam metal around 88-89, grunge around 1993 or 1994, gangsta rap around the same time, and emo/scene music around 2005 or 2006.
IF YOU'RE NOT ORIGINAL, I GUESS YOU WILL GET SHOT
>as a whole has lost credibility
Based Puck.
If rap does die, what do you think will be the next big thing? I can't even think of what it could be.
Yeah high schoolers don't fuck with "woke" shit at all. They want maximum ignorance because they think it's funny and they literally perceive the world as a meme.
Damn when the 2000s nostalgia era it's going to be so shitty. I mean don't get me wrong, some of the shit in the early and mid 2000s was prime, but a lot of it was just shit like this.
There will be no next big thing. We are a culture in the stasis of decadence. There are no new ideas left, only endless rehashes and repackages.
*when the 2000s nostalgia era hits
I don't think it matters as long as it just fucking dies already.
This is a better answer though.
