Welp finally finished Stargate SG1 and overall a pretty great show despite those last two seasons being kinda meh at times. At least the finale was decent. Are the two movies essential to watch or are they just trash?

The first movie is boring, but the second one is pretty great and feels like classic SG-1. Honestly, the Ori stuff was just awful, all the ancients / ascension stuff from Stargate is just cringe-worthy in general.

You should watch Atlantis too OP, it's similar to SG-1 in many ways but at the same time great in its own way, though like SG-1 it gets worse in the later seasons.

Anything post-O'neill is skip-able.
O'neill makes a few short apperances in Continuum but beyond that the movie feels like Old SG-1 with something missing (namely the Colonel).
Arc is basically a long finally episode for the last two seasons. If you are curious, you can watch it I guess.

>spends 200 hours watching the show
>can't be bothered to watch 4 more hours
just fucknig watch them fag

If you have actually watched the show it makes sense. The last two seasons of the show basically just peter out. There is really no momentum going into the movies.

*ascends your dick*

10/10

I love window of opportunity and 100/200

Would watch Wormhole X-Treme

Ark is basically a glorified season finale, but it has some kino space scenes

Continuum is excellent, like the SG-1 of old while sadly missing RDA. I highly recommend it for closure purposes

>It doesn't actually say "colonel" on my uniform

Wormhole X-Treme is getting cancelled. Sci-Fi is replacing it with Gender Balanced Science Adventure Team.

It's kinda insane how hard the show quality dropped once Jack left.

tell me a jaffa joke

Wrong

RDA really tied it all together, although the bigger loss was Brad Wright and Joesph Mallozii getting busy with getting Atlantis off the ground. Then they both left and turned it over to that fat fuck Martin Gereo who fucked up the first 2 seasons of Atlantis Kino and gave us shit like Trio and Harmony. He was also the brain dead fuck who compressed the best Atlantis episode (Be All My Sins Remerber'd) into 1 instead of the two parter it should have been just so he can get more screen time for his top Connor Trineer

DUDE REPLICATORS LMAO

The real catch phrase was "Holy cock fuck shit ass tits cunt nigger faggot spic kike balls"

Currently on season 6 of my re-watch. It's amazing that the show is actually great without Daniel, and Jonas isn't a bad replacement character in any way, in fact he's much less annoying than Daniel.

It's actually really shitty what happened, he becomes a full fledged cast member for a whole season, and then the asshole that played Daniel wants back on the show after leaving it because he thought he was "too good" or was wasting his talents there, or wasn't being respected enough or some shit, despite him being a very average to mediocre actor in general. Then the actor that plays Jonas essentially loses his job because of that shit, makes me angry.

I thought at least they could have made Jonas a recurring character because I started to like him near the end of S6.

Jonas was great, but the Danny fangirls kept sperging for him to come back. That and Shanks failed to get any meaningful work outside of Vancouver and lost a shit ton of money trying to get a horror movie off the ground, so he came back for the steady pay cheque, and you can tell thats what it is cause he absolutely phones in every single episode.

He was so nepotistic that he pushed the producers to give Lexia Doig a reccurring role in season 9 just because he was banging her.

He did come back in I think 1 future episode, one where they were on some drill or something with a goa-uld, right? I kinda remember that.

Yeah he did that one episode and they told him to fuck off.

The poor guy was so pissed off that he basically quit acting over how they treated him. It's too bad.

One wraps up the Ori, the other is great if you like Ba'al and good if you don't.

Actor who played Ba'al made him based. Give that role to a lesser actor and Ba'al would have sucked.

It's been over a decade since anyone has actually been prosecuted for Piracy fren. Worst case secenario, MGM will send you a nasty email.

Ba'al is literally the ONLY reason to watch seasons 9 and 10. Mitchell, Vala, and Landry are just too obnoxious and shitty to tolerate otherwise.

>wait, this isn't a real show? DOES MY AGENT KNOW THIS!?

Reminded me of Ares from Hercules and Xena, Kevin Smith. Both kiwis if I'm not mistaken. Also both based.

This, he would've been all over Trump.

Wait, for real?

The episode where he tortures post-Tokra Jack is one of the best.

Landry was alright by Beau Bridges was absolutely the wrong choice to play him. The dude was too homely to play a military leader.

They should've moved Shephard and McCay to SG-1.

To the best of my knowledge. They were serious about prosecuting people for a year or so, then realized that a) piracy isn't really doing much damage to the bottom line b) even the most cucked judge in the country isn't going to put a guy in jail for not paying $10 for an old dvd and c) every single attempt to shut down torrenting has ended in dismal failure.

Basically as long you don't do something stupid like admit on your stream your pirating shit or move TB of files at a time, you'll be fine.

The first DVD we ever had was a Stargate movie. It was awful.
The second DVD we owned was Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me, that was much better.

Shepard, and yes, he would have been BOSS against the Ori.

I'm a brainlet but I'll look into this.

Was that code for something? There's no fish in his pond and he doesn't even have a good fishing spot. You would think O'Neill would at least have a boat or some shit

It's because the Goauld are at least interesting as a bad guy, while the Ori are just fucking stupid.

They should have removed the stupid replicator sub plot and made it the final episode.

The first stargate movie (the one that wrapped up the Ori shit) was boring and bad. The second movie (Continuum) was time travel kino and felt like a classic SG-1 episode.

i thought so at first, but watch it again, it started way too fucking slow since it was a follow up with lore, the whole thing is very lore heavy or weighed down by it which kept them from moving forward.

its about 20$ but I do worry they will shut it down if it gets popular. The whole thing is just an experiment really and sometimes its down, though it never happened to me.

I have it but I havent been on it in a few months, I buy it just to support the show, great resource though, I think it has bonus feature stuff too like from the disc sets people would buy.

Showtime was full of ultra leftists and feminists. People forget sometimes that's where SG1 started.

I give Pete a pass because the actor was a DeLuise sibling. You can't go wrong with a DeLuise.

I didn't know until several months later that Joe Flanigan's house burned down in those California fires. Dude lost everything. At least Momoa still hangs out with him though despite big a bigshot capeshit star, they seem like good friends.

Wasn't it a DeLuise that played Urgo?

Dom Deluise.

Watching Vegas atm, I remember from the commentary that Brad was putting together a pitch to do an entire Vegas style series, just have SGC be background spook type people and look at dudes on the ground dealing with aliens and shit. I think it would have been kino

Attached: 1385416013446.gif (300x228, 1.91M)

there were a bunch of pitches even that one guy who had all the financing in place but whatever they just died. so sad :(

Wait, there was a replicator subplot in the arc of truth? I don't remember that.

Yeah that wasn't great behavior from him, but I always liked his character. And I think he really appreciates Stargate now. Still does conventions and talk about it. Stargate is and was such a huge part of the lives for so many of the actors.

Well I remember Joe got a bunch of dudes together to try and buy the rights from MGM but they turned him down. David Hewlett ended up buying like 80% of the sets with Micheal Shanks and Momoa has been pushing meetings with the high ups, but it just seems none of them got anywhere.

Well except for that fucking kike Emmerich, but it looks he fucked up too since they don't even have a script ready.

At least Brad Wrights have been in talks with MGM. So some good shit might happen. A new series set in the TV universe canon and respecting it, while at the same time telling a new story with a new cast, with reprisals from the other actors would be good.

Trips for truth.

I've met Shanks a bunch of times. He's a nice guy but he has an ego and he think's he's shit when really he's just a modestly successful Canadian TV actor. I don't blame him for trying to get better work, just the fact his actual talent didn't meet his percieved talent, and he was a bit of a dick about it on the set.

I'm not holding my breath until we see a trailer. Talks mean literally nothing unless something real comes out of them.

Yeah, outsidd Stargate he hasn't done much. I realize of course he wants to be known for other stuff, and as much as he appreciates Stargate he don't want it to be the only thing people will know him for. But Stargate is in general such a well liked show that I have never, even here in Yea Forums seen anyone talk negatively about. At least not those who have properly watched it, and that speaks to the quality of the show.

Indeed. But that MGM actually talks to him is better than nothing.

It was a 15 year franchise that didn't exactly blow up the ratings but had a solid core audience that stayed with it pretty much right up until the end. It's like Brad said, someone will figure it out eventually.

And it really is bar none of the best sci-fi series of all time, and for my money the comfiest

>try and buy the rights from MGM
Ya know... they could license the rights.... and even be granted that license for free... just throwin that out there.

>Dom Deluise
>a Deluise

Attached: 1435381617975.jpg (380x247, 32K)

You're right of course. I'm glad at he at least has a seat at the table. Who knows, maybe something will come out of all it. I know he's supposed to have another meeting with them at some point in the spring via twitter. Wait and See I guess.

They wanted to buy the rights outright because MGM was only willing to give them the bare minimum for a production budget, the idea was to shop it to another network to get it moving again, or try to sell it to Netflix. MGM refused to play ball with them at all, because they're banking on kike magic (Emmerich) to save them, which ended up going bust anyway. They were basically dicks for the sake of being dicks, and continue to be so to this day.

>puts tits in your science

Attached: 1451689034693.jpg (852x480, 45K)

Yeah some IOA stooge shows up and has the Asgard computer create a replicator so that it can eat their ship and then hopefully fight the Ori. As if the replicators that were defeated by an ancient device that wasn't even built for that purpose would pose a threat to another group just as, if not more advanced.
He gets his body taken over by replicators like some meat puppet and then gets incinerated leaving a cheesy replicator skeleton.
It's awful I'm not surprised you don't remember it.

>It's a Todd episode

Seeing F. Murray Abraham or Christopher Heyerdahl in the opening credits is always a good thing.

YO WONDERBREAD

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 13K)

The movie itself isn't that bad but even dumbfuck Mitchell calls him out on the IOA's stupidity, literally saying "That is a terrible plan"

Ah yeah I remember that now, it's been ages since I watched that movie, and I remember the cheesy skeleton bit too.

The movie as a whole isn't. The magic box of plot convenience wasn't great but they didn't have time to give a good solid ending so I don't hate it. The replicator part was just so that Sam and Mitchell had something to do.

Yea the whole box was a bit silly but I could see they were up against the clock, so it works. The space battle of Odyssey vs Ori was pretty sweet too. Blue not phasers ftw!

>when you're a four star general and a joint chief and the Iraq war is going on and you still take the time to go act like yourself on a TV show

>They wanted to buy the rights outright because MGM was only willing to give them the bare minimum for a production budget
Hmmm I thought they got the funding? Well if they walked in with funding they wouldnt be much of a problem as long as those investors could get their money back. Im surprised nothing could be worked out with the studio.
>or try to sell it to Netflix
MGM doesnt have much in modern times IP wise, that would really piss them off Id imagine.

>They were basically dicks for the sake of being dicks, and continue to be so to this day.
Who are the dicks? MGM the people pitching, maybe both?

With Orville on FOX maybe they could find a competing network but who ? Doubt CW since they got that big budget Supernatural show so cant do it. What about TBS or something, is that network still a thing, if they got nothing maybe they could do something?

Yeah and this was the second time it happened. And other shit too

They had the money but MGM turned them down flat, because Emmerich had favored nations in his movie contract that said he'd be the only one to play with Stargate if his movie actually went forward, and at the time they figured they'd have better luck and make more money with "an established director"....

I suspect HBO might take a run at it. TBS maybe. I think Netflix would be the goal though.

Did any of you anons start watching Stargate because of Yea Forums? And did you think you'd like it as much you do before you started?

That would be sweet, Netflix might not be a good fit for anything sci-fi, also they got burned hard on that STD show which they payed for so doubt their going to go down that road again anytime soon at least.

>Are the two movies essential to watch or are they just trash?

The first one wraps up the Ori arc which is meh; but if you watched through it you'll probably want to see how it ends.

The second one is a self contained adventure that isn't really important but its fun and more entertaining then the first movie. Plus it has Baal who was the best thing the last few seasons had going.

So where do you guys think Stargate should go from here?

Do you want to see what happens after SG-1 and Atlantis with humanity being a space faring civilization like The Federation?

Or do you think the series needs a reboot to return it to its glory days when humanity were underdogs against the Gao'ld trying to blow up alien motherships with C4 and balls?

Attached: Stargate WACKO!!!.jpg (1024x576, 172K)

>So where do you guys think Stargate should go from here?
Nowhere. Keep it dead and don't desecrate its legacy any further.

Insatiable millennials need not apply.

Attached: 1435189413946.jpg (340x366, 44K)

STD def put Netflix on the sour note for supporting any scifi for who knows how long since JJ burned them with that shit show since it wasnt real Trek, its that robot studio BS spinoff stuff that bombed in the theaters because they cant into scifi.

>So where do you guys think Stargate should go from here?
Nowhere really humans are too OP now and prequels are rarely any good.

I'm in the reboot camp; but an alternate universe reboot that regards everything that happened in SG-1 as canon.

My idea is that they do it in an alternate universe (which are canon in Stargate) where humanity has just reactivated the Stargate instead of doing so back in the 90s and all the characters have gone on with their lives as if the gate program hadn't happened, O'Neil is a general (and maybe fills Hammonds role again), Carter has a Nobel Prize or two, Teal'c is still first prime of Apophis and Daniel is trying to sell books at Conspiracy Con 2020. And you introduce some new younger characters to be SG-1 but you could still have cameos or even regular parts for the original cast. And at some point they could even do a crossover episode where they visit the original show's universe. Going the alternate universe route let's you keep everything that happened in the original show as canon but also lets you reset the time frame back to when humanity were under dogs against the Gao'ld when the show was at its best (IMO).

Attached: Stargate That's gotta be a record.jpg (1024x576, 68K)

I want to see humanity stall on being the Federation "ideal" of becoming a "world peace" just like in real life

Attached: daniel ooh.jpg (326x397, 31K)

>aliens need us for our lesser intelligence

>I'm in the reboot camp
meh... but with that idea I wouldnt mind a series about SG-2 or SG-ALpha or anything corresponding to the lore, that would kind of float the boat of a reboot without it being a reboot ya know? It could work?

Oh, and no ascended beings this time around. I hated that crap. It went against the whole premise of the show. You set me up a universe where aliens are impersonating Godlike magic using advanced technology and then a few seasons in you tell me people can ascend into pure energy through meditation and the power of positive thinking. That's not technology, that's real fucking magic and that's not what I signed on for.

>Carter has a Nobel Prize or two
Well her work would have to be public user.... did the show ever reach that point where they were all public figures?

Nope.

Supposedly the last idea being floated around for the show was to deal with the consequences of humanity finding out about the Stargate program and alien life after Atlantis crash lands at the end of its last season.

That could be interesting; but as another user said humanity is too OP at the end of Atlantis, the don't even really need the Stargates anymore and with a huge space fleet the show ends up feeling more like Star Trek than Stargate.

200 is post O'Neill, its definitely not skippable.
