What is your honest opinion about Spike Lee and his movies? Did he direct any of your favorite kinos?

I've only seen Inside Man and BlacKKKlansman and I enjoyed both. The man is a childish piece of shit, though.

Only Spike Lee "movie" I have seen is the story mode for that one basketball game, which he directed. I knew nothing about him before starting it, not even that he was black, but by the end I hated both him and every single one of the characters in the story.

For all his faults I love the guy. All his films from the eighties and nineties are solid, and a couple are genuine masterpieces. At his best he has a great quality of being very immediate in his film-making, he's not subtle but it works because he has no need for dicking around or covering stuff up. It is a pure use of cinema being used to show you something. He is a true artist and deserves to be as much of an old crank as he wants.

Black clansman wasn't Spike Lee's best film. His best film would be Bamboozled.

However, the best Spike Lee film to ever be made was written and directed by Boots Riley. Sorry To Bother You accomplishes everything Spike Lee ever tried to accomplish in his films, without succumbing to melodramatic stereotypes of blacks OR whites, except when the protagonist is specifically putting on a melodramatic white stereotype in-character to make sales. It even has the signature "what the fuck" ending that Spike Lee is known for (that Black Clansman actually didn't have,) and despite having a clear and racially charged message that doesn't shy away from taking a stand and making its side known, it doesn't resort to making anybody cartoonishly snidney-whiplash-evil or dudley-do-right-good purely because of their race.
