If they dont make a 4th movie i will be seriously depressed
If they dont make a 4th movie i will be seriously depressed
dawn >>>>>>>>> rise >>> war
Should it be another remake of the original though? I kinda want to see how that would play out, myself. Yes, even after the Marky Mark debacle.
That's not going to happen without Serkis.
Dawn was a fluke.
Maybe later, I would like to see an end to this continuity. Though... Conquest was the best one.
Aren't they pretty much intended to be the same continuity though? That's what I meant, another Planet of The Apes but done by the same people that worked on this trilogy. Unless by continuity you mean more stories following Caesar's brood. Which I think could still work.
Planet of the 4pes?
Was dawn 2? I like 2 the best with the monkeys on horseback and based Koba
Caeser is dead
If they do I want it to show people and apes actually living together for a while, before things went to absolute shit. I want to see apes laying down the foundations of their society and caste system (which was hinted in Dawn)
Koba isn't
I read that as Planet of the faps
3rd one already saw a drop of quality from the first 2 so I don’t want the next one to happen and be absolute terrible and end the series with a bad after taste
Ceaser killed that dumb fuck, he's dead
>koba not ape
yes you are you stupid fuck
Monkey fapper detected. Hopefully its at least something top tier like Tiny Kong.
The story is pretty much over with War anyway. The apes get the planet while the humans are either extinct or become endangered species that won't be much of a problem anyway. I am not entirely sure if they all turned into 'feral', lower intelligence creature like the colonel said or they just become mute.
Yeah Dawn is the second. I think all the movies have the apes riding horses though.
war was so fucking bad, I had so much hopes for it after dawn
they become feral we see it a couple thousand years later when heston arrives
why did you hate War? too slow?
Dawn was a slow film, but it was still good. War was just fucking bad, boring, and forgettable. It was so bad I can barely even remember any of it other than the ending and Caesar's family getting murdered.
War was great
I was hoping Koba and a warband of apes would pop out at some point during the last movie, but I guess he's really dead.
What we got was enough. It's actually surprising that the trilogy was as good as it is. In any case War made less than Dawn so that's probably why they won't make any more. It's never gonna hit say Jurassic World numbers.
Is the third movie worth watching? I've only seen the first two and liked the first one more although the Maurice "...Run!" scene in 2 was kino.
>if they don't make 20 more filler movies that are dragging out the circumstances of the apes taking over the Earth then I will be seriously depressed
yeah it's still worth watching, but that title is a misnomer. It's not a "War", really.
The prison escape was good
It is slow, and its not really a war, its more like ceasers personal revenge story, I liked it
NO. NOOOO
Another remake would be shit, SHIT. The plan for this series of films was to produce another 3 or 4 movies that would lead up to a proper remake but with an incredible amount of world building and story telling leading up to that point. The writers described this series as Tolstoy of the Apes, it was supposed to follow seperate generations through an epic tale of race, allignment, culture, history, just so much, SO MUCH amazing subtext and now disney bought fox and wants to throw it all away for another shitty remake
That would kinda negate ceasers guilt for killing him, so no
War looks great in 4K.
I have the 50 Years of the Planet of the Apes collection.
Pretty good deal, got it for $25. When the prequel trilogy in 4k was going for $35.
The story is NOT over with War. There is still a looong way to go before the society of apes is like the society we see in the original planet of the apes, and that was the original intention. The writers even said they wanted to do much more
> annoying comedy relief characters that ruin the mood of the movie
> few other “funny” and inappropriate moment that ruins the movie mood as well such as the avalance sequence at the end
> many things that push suspension of belief too far for the sake of the plot / emotional moments that it becomes retarded i.e little girl walking into the camp to see caesar undetected, the whole final battle looks like a bad B- movie action sequence.
> Sniper guy basically a pointless character taking up screentime who is solely there as a red herring and “subvert expectation” while other characters have straight forward character arc anyway.
> The main theme of the movie is based on caesar’s revenge. However, the resolution was a cop out scenario as the colonel was inflicted with the disease and begged caesar to kill him anyway. Caesar refusing to kill him there really muddle the theme as perhaps caesar refusal to kill him is the more malevolent choice. That seuwence also has no major consequence and seems to be a minor Caesar’s detour moment rather than directly affecting the monkey’s clan escape plan
Pleb
Ceaser was still broken up over killing koba, he never wanted to kill anyone, the "comic relief" character is one ape and he was interesting and actually really sad once you see past his goofy antics, sniper guy was indeed basically pointless
It was Caesar's story.
Not according to the writers. Caesar was only part 1.
Bruh, Ceaser already killed a shit load of human. Koba’s death was a major moment because Koba was his own kind and a long time acquaintes of his. However, Caesar was definitely wishing vengeance on the colonel for killing his kids. The main point is that Caesar lie to himself that he was hunting down the colonel for the sake of the clan but the true motivation in his heart was personal vengeance. Koba’s ghost haunted him because Koba also took action for personal vengeance
I can see it working, a second trilogy dealing with the rise of the apes, and ceaser turning into a messianic figure with an entire religion being created around him
They need to make a fourth that explores the rise of the economic prosperity of the Planet of the Apes. They can call it Monkey Business
Ceaser killed plenty but he didn't want to, over the course of the trip he learned that, 'Muddled' is an accurate way to put the conclusion to the whole revenge arc though, fair enough
And comedy relief monkey was literally jar jar binks tier. There is no way to defend that character. The only time he fit into the story is the brief when he discusses his past to the group when they first met. He’s just there for inappropriate comedy relief till the end of the story
you don't want it now
it would have gay and tranny apes and win oscars for being progressive
Thats the idea but also the writers said the 4th film.would begin with the society of apes that caesar fathered coming into contact with other tribes that are not as virtous or had different, opposing genesis, and would have major impacts on the evolution of the ape society at large
Nah, the narrative was finished with War nicely. Everything after the movie is just the rise and evolution of ape civilization until Chuck Heston crash lands.
Rise is a lot better than War. War sucked.
I'm in the minority it seems but I also didn't think Dawn was significantly better than Rise. I like both a lot but find myself more drawn to Rise. Funnily enough the stuff with the humans dragged it down. I wouldn't have minded had Dawn only been about the apes getting their burgeoning society going and the issues they had internally getting it running and then only introducing the humans at the end.
Also the story would follow complications of housing Nova who is treated basically as an ape, in particular her relationship to Caesars youngest son
>And comedy relief monkey was literally jar jar binks tier.
Fuck you I liked bad Ape. He's just so ugly he's cute.
whatever was left of Koba died with Caesar
This
>It's not a "War", really.
Yes it is. The war just isn't against the apes. It's between Woody's militia and the other humans.
Im OP and actually i agree, war is a bad title and a premature busting of their nut. They called it war causr it sounded bad ass and more americans would see it. Other countries the title is Survival of the planet of the apes, much better, and saves the title War for a future episode.
their was nothing comedic about him trying to keep the kids safe at the end
that could be good, also they should've saved "war" for that
No, no, thats still for later, this one be called "Gathering"
Well which ever one the various ape factions fight each other for control of the planet,
>we'll probably never see space shuttle icarus crash land onto a planet ruled by non human apes
Yeah and in the og planet of rhe apes, rhe society are religious zaelots, so they have to show how that comes to be also, and i can imagine its another societys impact and their own history coming into contact with caesars tribe
Also they either forget or purge the info that humans use to be smart, i'd like to see that with maurice or similar trying to maintain accurate history and others rewriting it
Oh shush
Oh yeah that sounds dope, cause the rangas are the apes that are the historians and scholars and maurice is a good one but over time they are dogmatic and suppress information for better control
"Congregation" would be better. Then the next one is "war". Then after that just "planet of the apes" and thats the last one
exactly, I'm really coming around to this 2nd trilogy idea
But then they need to get to the icarus, so thats trilogy 3
Rise > Dawn > War
Dawn>War>Rise
They could just do 2 trilogies and then one more with the icarus, the icarus situation doesnt need its own trilogy, just one stand alone film to tie it all up i think. But hey im not turning down more films, thats for sure, if they thought they could make it work id fucking be down.
When [co-writer] Mark [Bomback] and I came up with the idea for Bad Ape in War, that was to imply the idea that there would be apes out there in the world that Caesar and his apes knew nothing of, and that they wouldn’t have had the benefit of Caesar’s leadership and the values that he had instilled in his community. Future conflicts in this kind of epic journey [may] take us toward the ’68 movie without necessarily ever getting there [and] could be about conflicts between apes, not just conflicts between humans and apes. And so, to me there are many more exciting stories to be told, and I would love to tell those stories.”
Thats the writer of Rise/Dawn/War talking
I hope someone gives them the cash for it, seems like they got a lot of support to make these films, give it a few years and maybe it'll happen a lot of people really like this series
Rise was by far the best. War and Dawn both had cheezy moments but I think Dawn wins because of the better plot and an actual progression.
Its about if disney wants to do it. Disney bought fox and they are deciding if they want to do a sequel or theyre own reboot...disgusting
ah shit, the mouse ruins everything
Ye
