Germany has a semi decent indie scene and made some great movies but have you ever looked at all the mainstream "high budget" pop stuff? I mean all these romantic comedies starring Till Schweiger and the other actor who isn't Till Schweiger.

For mainstream oscar bait stuff its UK

Japan I think.
Im not a weeb but they do make some kino, both live actors and anime.
Early days of cinema I would say England, but they aren't so good any more.

Only if you like natural lighting and shitty acting. I don't know why but Japan's film industry is a joke compared to what it used to be. 21st century live-action that comes out of Japan is almost always utter dogshit.

Sweden once did if you count Bergman, otherwise i would go with Italy. I just can't say no to spaghetti westerns and the bisarr horror movies.
