> not afraid to get in a guy's face > tells people off left and right > not afraid to get loud > can handle herself easily > shows vulnerability > takes charge when needed > kicks exuberant amount of alien ass by herself > doesn't have a love interest >"Strong female character done right"
> any female character showing the SAME traits today > "sjw pandering!" > "what a cunt" > "gurl power!" > "stronk and powerful woman who don't need no man!" > "future cat lady incoming"
you forgot the difference where Sigorney didn't go on about being the best alien hunter in the whole damn alien universe, and that the movie wasn't made for white men, so fuck brie and much love to based Sigorney.
Ryan Bailey
>didn't have a love interest hicks was def interested
Nicholas Nguyen
Ripley was a disagreeable bitch in Alien and that was part of her character. In Aliens she had PTSD.
If there's an ass-kicking young woman in movies now, they wouldn't dare make her a "bitch", if they did they'd go overboard (eg, Vickers in Prometheus). Otherwise, they're Rey-tier Mary Sues.
>She has PTSD >She freaks out over Bishop but slowly starts to trust him >She is nervous and fucks up her talk, causing the marines to mock her >The marines are all far superior to her in strength, training and confidence >She has to be shown how to use a gun and fumbles the first time she has to fire >She is scared but is driven to overcome her fear >She succeeds by using her wits and sheer determination
In the specific construction of each character. Neither Riplrey, Sarah Connor, Nikita, Buffy nor any other of the old female heroes is automatically a good character BECAUSE she is a woman, rather they are interesting well built characters that are female. Being female is undoublty intrinsic to their nature and in some cases it is strongly related to the source of their strenght but it is not what absolutely defines them.
For example Sarah Connor starts with no special traits whatsoever and her motivation to go from a victim to a bad ass soldier is rooted on her being a mother but it is not nearly enough. She had to barely survive the T800 and other ordeals to transform herself and become strong. Rippley is the same, in the original Alien she is more or less just a survivor in a cargo ship but by Aliens she is transformed. Buffy starts as a generic bimbo with the power of the Slayer but what makes her a good character is that she is Buffy Summers. Her relationship with her friends that let her keep growing as a character and facing new villains and gaining new experiences and dealing with more a more life issues.
Comparatively Rey is the greatest jedi ever just because. She has no training, no battle experience, no clear motivations or objectives. It´s not that the character is shit becasue she is a woman rather it´s just that a character that happens to be a woman is shit. The character is not being attacked because she is a woman but it´s been defended because she is a woman. The marketing and the whole discourse around her and current female characters is political while the criticism is made around cinematic or legacy issues.

Hey Ripley, don’t worry. Me and my squad of ultimate Mary Sues will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting Vice articles. VWAP! Fry half a Yea Forums board with this puppy. We got bland character writing, bypassed compressors, paid reviewers, we got sonic electronic ball breakers!
It was in the past before social media. If Alien/s came out now, incels would hate her.
William Stewart
>>She succeeds by using her wits
and gear she had at least some training on early on in the film. As the movie goes full circle with the loader mech. She doesn't just stumble over something, become instantly better than everyone else beat them at their own game or whatever. Also in most of the Alien films, the Aliens beat the shit out of everyone. Even Ripley runs for her life, panics like crazy and so on. It's only with in the last few years that everyone is expected to have super hero level of resolve when faced with overwhelming odds. Same for women just beating the living shit out of men who are x2 or x3 their size and power.
Robert Moore
Ripley was never presented as a woman. She was a person that tried to survive while being a woman. She wasn't even the main character. The "alien" was what made the movie good and Ripley a good character that played off the monster.
Andrew Wright
Give an example of characters doing that now and we will tell you why you are wrong. Also Ripley earned how to be a badass by being terrified on the first movie by an alien killing machine.
Brayden Collins
>any female character showing the SAME traits today Where? There are literally no female characters today that are comparable to Ripley.
Oh, I see. OP is just talking out of her ass.
David Ramirez
lot of black gary stus as well
Kayden Ross
Wonder Woman, who was shown training for a majority of the movie, is constantly wrong, built up her strength, learned lessons, and needs friends to help her out wasn't hated for being a woman at all. Any hate came from the movie being bad (which it was, DC movies are typically like that), or her being an Israeli which was rare.
Benjamin Nelson
Nowadays there would be tons of outrage over her being sexualized, given all the sweaty clothing and skin showing.
I rewatched Aliens recently and was impressed with her development.
Even when she is a non-combatant she helps them out with the loader. Ripley mind you learned how to work that loader as a new job when she was grounded from being a pilot.
Ripley watches how the marines work and fight for the first half of the film. When non-combatants have to start fighting later on, she applies what she's learned in that prior hour (as well as has Hicks teach her the ropes) to fight the Aliens.
Her own experiences in the first film kick in.
Ripley is a well-written character, male or female, an observant individual who adapts and survives. Stronks are not and immediately masters at all.
Ryan Butler
indeed
Cooper Ramirez
>> "future cat lady incoming" But Ripley's already had a kid, and bonds easily with Newt.
>first half of the movie is about needing protection from men and the other half is about maternal instinct That really destroy the feminist narrative.
you are wrong with something, when the first commandos went to kill the aliens they couldn't use explosive weapons because of muh biollionaire energy stuff.
Hunter Howard
>If Alien/s came out now, incels would hate her. Just like they hated Edge of Tomorrow and Alita, right? Also, as much as Yea Forums hates Marvel capeshit, most people here would agree that Winter Soldier is actually decent and that Black Widow was the best part of it. Other movies that often get praised around here: BR2049 (we incels love Luv) Dredd (hard not to like pic related) Atomic Blonde And while there's not great consensus on Mad Max FR, those of us who liked it think Furiosa is great, up there with Sarah Connor and Ripley
>You like this character so you MUST like this other one who is completely different "No!"
Jacob Gutierrez
"never watched it?" i fucking own it.
Brody Green
I forgot to add how much love Snyderfags have for this outstanding bitch, maybe the only genuine praise beyond all the memeing and the shitposting. Perhaps the best female character in the history of capeshit.
LMAO good luck trying to get this meme off the ground. I don't think it has a lot of potential though.
Jack Morgan
Hicks shows her how to use a gun; he and his buddies saved her from the facehuggers in the med bay; Bishop saves her and the squad by remote piloting the 2nd dropship and flying off the planet
Nolan Lee
that character with like one fedora tipping line about evolution that made no sense?
Brayden Barnes
> best character > virtually has no character
Wyatt Jones
You're not wrong. Culture warriors would be up in arms if it came out today
You clearly weren't on Yea Forums leading up to the release of WW if you think the Male Justice Warriors stayed silent over how the film was marketed
Alexander Howard
So why is this meme happening today? Ripley was a character with actual flaws. Marvel YAAS KWEEN SLAY bullshit shows no real flaws. It's just stupid action hero garbage.
Aliens was not stupid action hero garbage, it was literally the story about a person breaking the fuck down under pressure. Fuck off simpleton.
Lincoln Flores
>Ripley mind you learned how to work that loader as a new job She was a lieutenant on a space truck, I guarantee she's had to load freight somewhere in her career.
Eli Baker
wasn't talking about cm at all. guilty conscience much?
Zachary Reyes
Was Ripley competent because she was a fulfilled woman, or was she competent because that's what the story required?
Dylan Roberts
Ill tell you the difference. Real post, not a troll.
She was vulnerable, she was likable Yeah she was strong and kicked butt But she needed the help of men to survive and was not ashamed to ask for help from men or mad about receiving help. She understood how important men were to her survival. She understood cooperation was important, she didnt take men for granted. She didnt hate men. She didnt feel lesser or better than the men.
Thats whats different. Same with kill bill. These characters are missing that dislike towards men that feminists have
Look at wonder woman. The perfect hero
Kayden Bennett
It's like someone has shoehorned politics where they didn't really exist. Like in Predator how no one gives a fuck that Dillon is black, or that the same black helps Rocky become world champion. Yep, it's almost like someone has started to point out issues that no one paid any attention to, presumably for political reasons. If I had to hazard a guess as to who, I would say it's the people who finance such ventures. Therefore, Jews.
Brayden Flores
The difference is that Ripley earned it probably because the entirety of the movie was created by men. Today's films just place female surrogates for sub par female (and weak male) writers so they never have to actually work to earn respect.
Henry Lee
Women in the 1970s and early 80s weren't entitled, they were empowered.
Brie was in acting school at 6 and is a spoiled little entitled brat.
Parker Collins
Yup. That comment on evolution comes from a genetically engineered soldier which is very ironic (and sad.) You decide if that was Snyder's intention or not. Either he is a competent filmmaker and storyteller or a complete retard.
>best character >virtually has no character And the point still stands. The absolute state of capeshit.
