How is it awful? Both of those battles convey the proper significance to the story and the nuances of the characters. You learn more about Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in their fight in the OT, while in the PT you are shown the culmination of Sheev's character, cackling as he shows a complete disregard for thousands of years of tradition, looking down at even the most powerful jedi at the highest point of the shot.

You are shown literally all of that in the PT. Qui-Gon's repeated disregard for the jedi council and his penchant for just diving headfirst into what he wants to do is a perfect display of his hotheaded tendencies and weariness of politics. Darth Maul clearly craves power but is still a naive young man who trusts too much while never really growing out of his edgy phase; he has faith in Sheev despite knowing of how treacherous the Sith can be. Padme is shown very well to be young, idealistic, and in possession of political acumen she has trouble showing.
Actually watch the movies instead of RLM reviews. The PT isn't very good in the first place, so there's no need to make up bullshit to criticize it.

because Disney aren't "racist" aka in denial about real phenotypes and the impressions they conjure in the viewer. George Lucas put a greedy, lying, slave-owning miniature elephant chameleon with wings in Episode 1 but noone who saw it will ever forget that character because somehow he does look like a greedy swindler who might own slaves or even the ships that brought them over from another continent, I mean, planet. his attributes weren't selected randomly. they started out with an owl-like face and more slug-like uniformly fat body (pic related), more resemblant of jabba, the sort-of basis for the character in true "it rhymes" structure. but they moved towards elephant chameleon and only a fat mid-section and suddenly it works perfectly. you take the creature seriously despite how bizarre it looks, because the cues you are getting are exaggerations of features that ring true in some way.
Disney's shit is forgotten the moment it leaves the screen because there is no truth to it, because the truth is not politically correct and risk-free.

Not really. Years before TCW was made, Lucas said in an interview if Jedi couldn't have relationships and he said they could have sex, not that they could be celibate. And Satine was already a character who was romantically involved with Obi-Wan years before TCW existed in a comic series. It also makes the dichotomy with him parallel against Anakin make even more sense. He stays with the Order while Anakin was prepared to leave it for Padme.
