Character shoots a shotgun in a confined space

>character shoots a shotgun in a confined space
>he doesn't immediately lose 60% of his hearing in both ears and develop lifelong tinnitus

Name ONE (1). Nah just kidding. Llewelyn Moss does this in No Country For Old Men and he appears totally unharmed afterwards. Very unrealistic.

This isn't even exclusively shotguns. How do retards pick up a gun like a desert eagle and fire it right next to their face without any prior experience and not immediately deafen themselves?

thats why i love that sopranos scene

Ohh you mean the Patsy's brother murder scene?

shotguns aren't that loud, it's worse when they shoot actual rifles like it's nothing

I don't get this thread. In a real-world scenario where quick action is required, are you supposed to take your time and put your hearing protection on before pulling the trigger? What about wars?

soldiers wear earprotection. back in the day and still today in non-professional armies people sometimes use stuff like cigarette buds as earpro, or they open their mouths when shooting. stuff like that helps and prevents your eardrums from bursting when you're for example firing a rpg, but still, most people in past wars and current asymetrical conflicts are more or less deaf.

Didn't some actor shoot a gun for a movie and ruin his earing

>shotguns aren't that loud
Not true. Linda Hamilton forgot to put ear plugs in while filming the hospital escape scene in T2 and she damaged one of her ears when Arnie fired the shotgun as she stated.

If guns are so damaging to the ears and have been since muskets, why haven’t militaries made it a priority to remedy this? Honest question

i heard this story once before and iirc it was val kilmer during the shootout scene in heat

I think it was for "Heat".

that's what surppressors and professional earpro are for

duh

DO YOU HAVE HEARING LOSS DUE FROM THE MILITARY DUE TO FAULTY EAR PRO?
WEVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT YOU ABOUT A LAWSUIT OVER FAULTY HEARING PROTECTION.
THIS IS NOT SUING THE MILITARY.
ACTIVE DUTY OR RETIRED.

And it's not just guns. The first time they seriously started researching the effects of war on hearing was when RAF personnel would develop tinnitus and would keep them awake at night before an important mission was due.

WHAT I CAN"T HEAR YOU?

The bullets are too fast so you don't damage your hearing.

I was told that 5.56 doesn’t so much damage hearing because it’s loud, it’s also the tone or frequency of it that really causes harm.

Test

you exist

what about shotguns?

You are unbanned my friend

ppp

bumpity bumpity bumpity booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

That's why a glock is better for self-protection.
Not as loud, and it's quicker to shoot than a fucking shotgun.
>b-but it's going to take several bullets to make the fucker die!!!!
After the first two he's already in deep pain and incapacitated anyways.

>WHAT I CAN"T HEAR YOU?
That's why it always has hardcoded captions

Bruce Willis ruined his hearing in his left ear during the scene in Die Hard when he's under the table firing at the guy on top of it, since the director wanted the guns to fire blanks for realism
