Jesus Christ I think you're on to something

And it's still better than all your movies Mousedrone

The real question is, will it surpass Frozen in total sales?

Attached: 519093.png (1000x875, 88K)

I imagine Pokemon's merch sales already beat Star Wars several times over

I'm pretty sure the ticket pre-sales have outstripped Alita already and that they're already planning a sequel before it's even been released.

Pokemon is about 90 billion net to Star Wars 65 billion net. Pokemon has only existed about half the time of Star Wars. It is the highest grossing Media Franchise in the world.

and capeshit or transformers is glorified advert for toys

If they make some nice figures of their abominations I'm in. They look like they have some SOUL even if the movie itself is probably trash.

4 billion easy

no less than 2.5b

It's done so well with test-audiences they've got an entire cinematic universe already in the works.
People seem to fucking love this movie.

What a twist

CUTE!

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 130K)

Best design in the movie by far. With Psyduck, Snubbul and Mewtwo as distant seconds.

Ludicolo looked pretty based desu

Forgot about Bulbasaur, which is god-tier as well.

Every form of Pokemon is an advert for merch. Every mainstream kids cartoon is.

I'm probably in a minority on this issue, but I'm not really sure if this Detective Pikachu movie will be anything but mediocre. Sure, the effects look pretty impressive, but the dialogue and scenes shown in the trailers look more like they're intended to be resharable .gif and .webm bait, rather than trying to make something that works as a cohesive film.
And another thing: whose bright idea was it to use licensed music for the trailers, and of all songs, why did they pick So Happy Together and Holding Out For A Hero? It's like they were trying to make their big budget film look like a straight to Pokémon TV B-Movie.
Full disclosure: I've been a long-time casual fan of the Pokémon games, with little investment in the Pkémon media franchise, so I'm probably fairly biased against the concept of the film in the first place. If you take my words, take them with a grain or ten of salt.

It's just a tech demo for live action Pokemon. If it's accepted(which it seems like it will be), we will get a proper Pokemon journey film.

They should release a discount version with no nigger kid and no Ryan Reynolds voice acting.

I just want to see the CGI.

how much more money would this make i the lead was a qt asian girl and not a mutt?

Still sound more interesting than anything Disney is doing this year

Oh, great, this must be the timeline where Pokémon become real and then take over human civilization. I'm outta here. Peace.

It looks like MCU movie tier. A typical blockbuster. What'd you expect, high art?

God I fucking hate this franchise. I despair when my supposedly adult university classmates go on and on about monsters from a sub-par children's videogame. What is so interesting about the concept of Pokemon? I really don't get it; even as a child I found the games and anime boring as fuck, there was simply better shit out there. Like I was gonna sit playing Pokemon red and aquamarine or whatever the fuck they were called when I could be playing Star Wars Battlefront or Halo, or watching Spongebob.

Because they were social and you became invested in your pokemon?

No wonder an autist doesn't get it.

Shut up commie

>Because they were social and you became invested in your pokemon?
wat?

I was already a fan by the time I was 5, I honestly can't tell you what actually got me into Pokemon. All my friends were into Pokemon at that age, as was everyone else. It's a franchise that stayed with me because of childhood nostalgia. Then when I was a teenager they started releasing genuinely good spin-offs like Ranger and Mystery Dungeon.

AND THAT'S A GOOD THING

Literally nothing wrong with that

>All corporations are inherently bad

Attached: brainlet.jpg (645x729, 57K)

They are, though. You literally can't become a huge corporation without fucking a lot of people on your way up. Thus, corporations are evil by definition.

Unironically nothing wrong with that. Most blockbusters only exist to make money and sell merchandise. I just hope that we get some low-concept movies once the Pokemon Cinematic Universe shifts into full gear.

You can say that for nations too, but I don't hear you screeching about how evil every country in the world is.

inb4 Pikachu is the kids missing dad

there are steps inbetween shit and high art

KAAAANTTOOOOOOOOOOOO the movie

Attached: DXQHvUh.jpg (960x960, 135K)

And I don't think it will be shit. It'll be an average movie you can sit down and enjoy with a coke and some popcorn.

yeah man just turn your brain off :). Don't worry about supporting mediocre "cinematic universes" and bringing down the quality of the cinema experience, let's just be content with funni xD cgi animals making quips and EPIC one liners! :DDD

It's been like this for over 50 years now. I enjoy arthouse and smaller releases just fine. Blockbusters don't make my favourite movie of the year lists or anything. I just like things that are fun. If you don't find them fun, don't watch them.

if you're a peanut brain

nice strawman
trying to frame it as "you hate movies that are blockbusters"
no i just hate crap. This looks unenjoyable

KAAAANTOOOOO

Attached: 1544156058388.gif (722x720, 1.17M)

Gee, I don't know
There hasn't been a decent blockbuster since the entire CU shitshow began

Attached: uHZdmV2.png (1244x1322, 227K)

look how fucking cute Pika is, this shit is hitting well over a billion

Fuck that pretentious pseud mindset. I can enjoy both high-brow art and schlocky b-movies just fine.

Doesn't look like shit to me though. I'll be watching it for the cute CG Pokemon, not the plot and characterization. If you have a problem with that, sue me.

Chuckled

fucking rat

Blockbusters used to mean shit like The Terminator, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park etc. Hell, even stupid shit like Independence day had some heart and were genuinely entertaining. This Pokemon thing is just another addition to the soulless, boring garbage pile

I am unironically hyped for this movie.

I don't know what this means but there's tons of pokemon in the trailer from the new games.

>I'll be watching it for the cute CG Pokemon, not the plot and characterization
Confirmed uber-brainlet

...and that's a good thing!

Did you played the game?

You keep strawmanning, its not about being "low brow"
It just looks bad. Bad story, world and humour

They're not TOYS unless you like Marvel or "Marshit" as I like to call it. Can a kid buy a "TOY" like this you brainlet? No. So just stop talking like you think you know my industry, you don't know anything! DAMN.

Attached: aquachad its the best hes based fuck marvel and kids movies.png (1198x646, 892K)

That's your fucking opinion. The world doesn't look bad to me, and that's enough to make it worth watching.

>muh soul

grow up and let the kids enjoy their stuff faggot. The trash you enjoyed as a kid doesn't have more artistic value than the trash now. Everything went shit when they stopped Bretton Woods.

Attached: s3g1s3.png (201x250, 5K)

You’re right. And it worked. I WANT IT ALL AND NONE OF YOU OTHER WORTHLESS FUCKS CAN HAVE ANY!

All those movies he mentioned will be way better than this shit
>let kids enjoy their stuff
are you the strawman guy from before?
Just because something is for kids doesn't mean it has to be shit. There are lots of kids movies that are good. I didn't like trash even as a kid. You sound like a low iq brand loyal whore

>why do people like things I don't like
>REEEEEEEE

Attached: 10gazillionhoursinCC.gif (645x729, 168K)

And thus, the strawmanning retard runs out of arguments and resorts to playground insults

You never had any arguments in the first place. You just keep posting that the movie looks like shit and expect others to agree with your baseless opinion.

And you keep on posting that you are fine with mediocrity in cinema. Anyway, never said my opinion was fact, but clearly you hold it in high regard to be so triggered by it

>And you keep on posting that you are fine with mediocrity in cinema
Correct. Because there isn't anything wrong with it.

And it somehow manages to look more competent and soulful than any Marvel movie

yeah but it doesnt matter, all anyone cares about is seeing live action pokemon fight eachother

mediocre just means bad. There is no reason to consume mediocre media. You get nothing from it. There's always something better out there

its a meme mostly, but built on a solid foundation. its very simple and easy to get into but has a lot of depth once youre there. then you have so many cute/cool designs that anyone will find something that appeals to them

That's not true. If you want to watch a movie for its concept, and that concept is unique, you can literally not get that satisfaction from anywhere else, no matter how long or hard you look. There is no better live-action Pokemon movie out there. That alone makes Detective Pikachu worth watching.

fuck and suckled

No shit you fucking retard

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I NEED IT
