>Be Korean
>Go to theater
>Literally every Korean movie long 120m~140m
>Choose one
>Turned out it could be better film if it was trimmed down to 100m
>Talk about tendency of overlong Korean film with friends
>Everyone says 'Its good because I can enjoy more time at same price'
>Articles say long film do better at box office
>Frustrated by Korean's 3rd world mentality
I despise Korean 3rd world mentality

Korean movies are so fuckin' gay. Almost all of them have these long cringy melodramatic slow mo montages of the main character crying. Get that fuckin' shit off the screen faggots.
but this exact complaint is also valid for Hollywood movies since for the past 15 years. including how normies see it as more bang for the buck. I fucking hate this trend. I can list very few movies that are over 2 hours long and wouldn't benefit from being trimmed to 90 minutes.
You watched lots of Korean movie tho
K-Dramas are even worse.
They have constant exposition and flashback scenes to extend the episodes. Their seasons are 16 episodes but the actual content could be told in 7.
>Go to theater
theres your problem m8
That's especially valid for capeshit. Imagine sitting through 2+ hours of vapid bullcrap. At least action movies in the 80s were short.
Give me the name of the 128 minute movie if you can. I love asian historical movies.
>implying non-whites are on based 4channel
South Korea is basically a third world country with first world infrastructure and technology.
so a first world country
Exactly. Tvn shows is fucking epitome of overlongness. I also searched how korean react to this overlong k-drama.
Unfortunately, Korean love looong k-drama because they can enjoy more time. I really hate this Korean 3rd world mentality
Got im
I wonder if there's some soap opera influence in there?
I sometimes got hurt by you guys teasing us plastic gook, muh tacky version of Jap etc. But I embrace it.
larping faggot
At least they can make movies unlike NK
ouch
I've seen over 100 Korean movies and that's really annoying. I like long movies most of them are overflowing with filler.
The Wailing was probably the worst by being what seemed like 4 different movies in one.
The Fortress (2017)
You mean that 128 minutes film on the picture? Admiral roaring currents
This is a big problem. I remember watching A New World, the plot wraps up, and there's still 40 minutes on the clock. They just don't know when to stop. Though the idea of building an epilogue into a movie. You can walk out earlier if you want or sit and keep watching sounds cool in a way
I'm glad Jap shows/movie are just long enough. But their acting is still trash though
What makes me really frustrated is Korean dont see it as problem.
When I talk about this problem with others, they usually disagree with it.
'Korean movies are not that long'
'You cant concentrate on 2hours huh?'
'As long as movie is fun, I dont mind at all'
Even the Wailing that foreigners often complain about its running time, Korean rather loved it.
I hate the mandatory fat goofball comic relief characters more desu. I see less of it nowadays but you dudes were putting basic slapstick characters in movies about national tragedies and shit.
>that adhd retard who cant enjoy long movies
I was just thinking about this today. I watched The man from no where today and I felt like it over did a lot of the dramatic moments. Overall I felt like it was too long.
That being said, I really did enjoy it
It's not about length, it's about editing.
>dude you either love all movies that drag on too long or you're an adhd baby!
why don't you throw the transformers/capeshit argument while you're at it.
Haha. I agree it. I hate that too.
I think its our culture that love to mix genre.
It is Bong Joonho who made it to mainstream and lots of Wanna be-Bong put comic scene out of nowhere.
But it is not all about Bong's influence.Like the Save the green planet(2003), Korean directors always have been loved sudden tonal change.
I hate that goofy comic scene come out of nowhere in Korean cinema, too.

Based. South Korea was unironically the only country where Satantango made a profit.
I know what you mean i watched Hit and run squad and out just dragged on. Koreans don't understand subtlety
I went to go see a Chinese movie called An Elephant Sitting Still the other day and had to leave an hour early because the movie was 4 hours long and I needed to work.
You missed the part where the girl gets raped by the main character because she was dating the teacher.
you're watching movies from the wrong korea friendo
>Watching Korean capeshit like Hit and Run
It was flopped even in Korean box office. I dont get why foreigners watch shit movies that failed at both commercial and ciritical wise
it was watchable desu
>Korean movie
>Classical music starts playing
>The protagonist is a father who loves his daughter
>Fat guy only talks about food
>An extra has severe plastic surgery face and it's sad because her career will obviously never go anywhere
I'll recommed hidden gem.
'The truth beneath'
youtube.com
It is only 102 minutes long.
Though it flopped at box offcie, critics gave
generous reviews. And it is quite well made thriller.
Also,it is co-written by Park Chanwook
Not that guy, but what other hidden gems (outside of Asia) you got?
Yeah Ive seen it. Expected some some shitty thriller but got some interesting story. I was quite suprized, despite seeing most of modern korean movies. I prefer 90s korean kino thou
What I hate most are the tearjerking korean movies, they are literally melodrama porn.
This really was a disappointment failed comedy/family drama shit
How the guy who did The King of Pigs, The Fake and Train to Busand said this was his longtime loving project? was damm shit.
I agree. Korean public loves over-sentimental story and sad ending. Its our taste.
Young generation are tired of it, though and ridicule how shit 'Miracle in Cell No. 7' is.
chinks and koreans are bug people with low genetic emapthy, literally emotionally retarded
Its why their stuff is all weird
no such thing as bad porn
They are good at it though. Hope (2013) was brutal.
some scenes were ok
But I always fail for it and I hate it. Like this. This is sentimental torture you see from far away but end falling for the ending everytime
I embrace it. But China has a lot of decent art house filmakers at the moment. They are way better than Japanese art house who rely on few directors.
Chinese and Koreans are nothing alike mentally.
Chinese plainly have no empathy, Koreans are sad and angry all the time about everything bad that ever happened to Koreans.
the difference between china and south korea is literally communism
the difference between south korea and japan is PTSD
yes koreans are far less worse than chinks
Does Korea have a vibrant indie culture? I was listening to a k-indie playlist today and all the songs are mostly the same mellow generic love songs
it interests me that Korean people hate their country so much whilst simultaneously being perhaps the most nationalistic people I've ever met.
not really, or im just too pleb to know it
most indie music is just 'chillout coffee music'. I once heard an uncensored version of Look At Me by xxxtentacion in a camera shop full of dictatorship era boomers though, that was funny
Only in film industry. We have quite big film industry for 50m population.
Korean go to theater 4.2 times per capita and it is world highest country.
en.wikipedia.org
Despite being 50m population, we 220 millions tickes sold in year. It is higher than France(205) and Japan(185).
But when it comes to music industry, indie culture is not active. K pop overtook everything
The only reason our film industry is smaller than UK and Japan is because of ticket price.
We have much more movie goers overall.
But music and literautre industry is almost dead
i understand what you're saying OP but south koreans have also made some of the best kino of the past decade. id say you guys are probably making better mainstream movies than us in america if you compared the numbers. i have a question for OP or any other koreans still here. are guys like chan wook park and bong joon ho considered big stars in south korean similar to how our biggest directors are here?
Is this a meme? Because that's a very minor problem, and South Korea film industry is one of the few successful ones outside of the US so there's a lot to be proud of. Today it is up there with France, Denmark and Mexico, and it probably makes more money than all of them.
Come to the real third world and see what shitty national cinema really looks like.
inferiority complex against their country neighbours
>Mexico
No local mexico films are shit
it's just Korea's national pastime whenever they're not protesting. They LOVE insulting their own people, just don't make the mistake of doing it if you're an outsider because you'll be lynched
everything in this thread applies to anime
Korean critics love Bong wayyyy more than Park. Bong is considered as one who set the standard of 'how to make Korean style blockbuster'.
>
Critics: Lee changdong>Bong Joonho>Hong sangsoo,Park Chanwook
For general public, yeah. Park and Bong is two biggest star.
But the thing is, out film industry's strength is not at 'art house film'. Tbh, 90s taiwan films Iranian and Chinese are better than us.
What we are good at is mainstream movie that is also received well by critics.
our film industry
>it's a korean director makes a great film, then does nothing in next 10 years and when he does his next film is shit
this is not fair
I'm curious. How do you we love PROTEST?
Do you live in Seoul?
Protest take place every day in Seoul.
People love to talk how bad our government and society is. Then they go to protest.
Some of their hobby is literally protest.
Jews, Americans, Africans,Muslims and Koreans all mutilate baby boys cocks as soon as they are born
How do you know we love protest
Hunting Time btfo. Yoon Sung-hyun on suicide watch.
based editfag.
movies should be 90 minutes or less or 3+ hours with intermission. Search your feelings you know what I say to be true.
What does that have to do with 3rd world?
because it's how Indian movies are made? lol?
i lived in Seoul for a year, Nowon-gu to be exact
I loved it there, but there was definitely a lot of protesting in the city
>i lived in Seoul for a year, Nowon-gu to be exact
Yeah, Seoul is the city of protesting.
Old generation used to protest against military dictatorship during 1970~1980.
It became our tradition since then loool.
baka xDD
I love NCT 127
They are Poles of Asia
Why would you watch a Korean movie when Japanese movies exist?
Japanese film industry is stagnant.
Eh, Koreans don't really like Jews
They are pretty much one of the most antisemitic Asian countries if you exclude Muslims
For mainstream film, korean film industry is better.
For art house , 90s taiwan and modern Chinese films are better.
>implying japs aren’t as well
cringe and bluepilled. anime has rotted your mind
is right. for some reason jews are really trying to push some weird narrative that South Korea and Israel are similar. It's bullshit just like SK apparently being blacked according to /int/. They love hip hop shit but they see it as Korean, not black in any way, shape or form.
reccy some korean flickz
Why is it so low in North America? Everyone hates kikes there, it's no great secret.
