shame it is on constant hiatus.
>tfw you will never read that chapter for the first time ever again
Pretty heart shatterin moment
Visuals and audio was the weakest part of 2011 adaptation.

Great audio medium.
O
seething
garbage
This, but the base material more than makes up for that in forming the best animated anything in history. Personally I liked some of the stuff the old anime had: the grittiness, and some of those "fillers" like the ship thing in between the hunter exam trials, it underlined the sense of paranoia, what's an exam and what's not, are they judging us now, etc.
why do hunterfags think they're part of some secret brotherhood for liking it
Based and gonpilled
What's masterful about it? The 'great' chimare ant arc was full of juvenile garbage themes and people crying for no reason. It's like if a teenager made it.
The praised character development is just the transition from 'who am I' to 'well I now kinda know who am I' and from happy gon to angry gon
>he didn't get the kino
I liked the boat arc in 1999 version, felt reminiscent of the classical comfy 80's and 90"s animated shows and films, mainly Jonny Quest
If you boil anything down to its most basic parts then of course it sounds uninteresting. The Chimera Ant arc isn't just a story you can read on the wiki page, it's an experience you need to partake in to savour all the little details. Only true kino connoisseurs can appreciate the Chimera Ant arc, and even then one must have had read/watched the story before it to fully grasp it. In other words, you are a low IQ pleb
Did I make a mistake of watching the anime instead of reading the manga?
not really, the anime is practically beat for beat with more consistent artwork

now that One Piece is on hiatus and Togashi is set to have a record breaking year for chapter publication will HxH retake its crown as the king on shounen?
One piece is on hiatus? I've been trying to save up chapters for a big read, haven't read anything in two years or so
O
Its hilarious how Huntards claim this shit is a "deconstruction of shounen" but the MC literally breats his overpowered opponent with a (asspull) rage powerup ripped straight from Dragonball
You need to watch more film if you consider that anything but juvenile garbage. Sorry you have shit baby taste
>retake its crown as the king on shounen
can't retake something you never got in the first place
>One piece is on hiatus
its not
you should be able to recognize a shitpost when you see one
Someone post the napkin scribbles put out as manga pages
Gon's fight didn't even metter that much. In all of the ant arc he only beat one opponent. He was practicly a side character. The villain was the real MC.
oh, zoomer thread?
Perplexes me how One Piece is so popular.
O
No it is consistent with the description of the way nen works. Kurapika demonstrates the laws by having great power but having it limited to the scope of who is trying to find. Gon pledging his life for temporary great power, and then paying a great cost for it is balanced.
Jesus Christ did this turn to fucking shit. The current arc is one of the worst arcs I have EVER read in a shounen
This thread belongs on .
I can't blame you
>endlessly creative
>genius world building
>incredibly likable characters
>best longterm-stroytelling in manga
yeah, I wonder
you have to be a pretty incredible homosexual to put up with these shitty characters, world design, and arcs. All for a dry orgasm of a payoff. This is the first shonen I've attempted to watch that has been garbage. I could see myself enjoying it if If I was in middleschool again. Watching this is like watching yu gi oh as an adult.
>tfw only read hxh because expected Gon always to look like this
To say that Chimera Ant Arc gets everything right would be a huge understatement. What this Arc says about human history and the ways that people create their own destiny and mistakes makes for some truly compelling storytelling. Working in so many ways, as an allegorical story, as a monster story, as an epic, as a character study especially, and as a war drama, this Arc was near constantly engaging and thought provoking in so many ways. You could spend hours dissecting things like how it draws on real life parallels, most notably with the use of this universe's equivalent of North Korea to illustrate its point about humanity, the series' heavy use of symbolism with the parallels between characters, the minor tragedies characters each face inn what they don't achieve, the incredibly grey morality of the compelling antagonists which most impressively starts them off as extremely intimidating monsters to be stopped only to then bring us into their perspective and impossibly manage to make the audience feel sympathetic for them. HxH, in addition to just being great, is a genuine work of Art which encapsulates the power of great and compelling storytelling.
No other show has made me cry like a little bitch the way this show did. Especially during the ant arc.
> dat neko loyalty
> dat ant King sacrifice
> dat gon sadness
> dat gon/killua friendship purity
> dat ant girl returning to her mom
I’m so fucking sick of Hunter fans complaining about hiatuses. Try being a Berserk fan, where a single arc takes over a decade to finish, and when it reaches one of the most important plot points since the fucking 90’s, it goes on a long hiatus yet again.
The Succession War is the most complex, well though out, multilayered, finely paced, tightly packed, battle royale in manga. You literally are incapable of following the complex plot Togashi has been branching in each new chapter. I'm having the best time of my life reading and analyzing this arc with its amazingly well written characters including the princes and bodyguards. The arc is a masterpiece in the making (much like Chimera Ant Arc was). The way he's dealing with like ten different POVs and tighing them all together in such limited time and space shows us how much of a skilled writer he is, on par with the like of Takehiko Inoue and Miyazaki. I haven't even mentioned his top tier panneling and page composition that literally trashes on all manga alike from shounen trash like OP and BNHA to actually good stories, the like of Berserk and Vagabond. Togashi's art may not be as detailed, but it's extremely subtle and smart. Also his fight choreography and sense of a viewer's angle is sublime. The succession battle is the best arc of HxH. If you disagree, I'm sad to tell you that you're just another low IQ shonenfag who will never get HxH.
hxh has some of the worst character design among famous manga
just look at the royal guards and king
>cat with pants
>faggot
>red guy
>cell but with a bicycle helmet and the worlds gayest vest
this is supposed to be the world-shaking xenobiological threat, and the lower ants are even worse with things like cartoony octopuses and penguins
>antagonist is a gay pedo magician who also dresses like a homosexual pervert illusionist.
>Gon has pretty standard shonen design but is hollow as a character. they follow the formula but still fail to give the protagonist a soul.
>emo gon is an edgy 7 year old with the temperament and skill of a 40 year old veteran assasin
>gon and emo gon both look like they might still wear diapers but are actually much older
>when gon goes super sayain he looks like he's wearing a crop top and booty shorts with long flowing hair (this is your protagonist)
>the guy who teaches them nen is a painfully obvious nip self insert making those episodes unbearable. He's supposed to be a master of nen but he looks like every japaneese teenager who has ever existed. It's not subversion, it's pandering.
>every villain has awful design, the King at the end somehow manages to look like a gayer frieza which you wouldn't think possible.
Everything in this show is either awful or barely passing besides some of the combat scenes. You must be born after 1998 to think this passes for a good show.
I agree with all of this, except for the last part. It's anime kino.
Was I supposed to actually feel sorry for the ant king at the end?
Seriously, fuck that dude and that sniveling shit girl who played games with him
I'M GLAD THEY DIED!!
when the anime kino standard is one piece, yuyu hakusho, oldschool db, kenshin, normoid bebop, etc how can you say this is even in the ballpark- neigh, the alleyway near the street adjacent to the parking lot of the ballpark that these other shows are in?
Imagine growing up having this homolust shitshow as a psychological framework.
fuck gayer frieza btw
old monk guy is the only cool character
Who are these people who unironically enjoy this 5/10 parody of a shonen?
>oh my rubber nen.jpg
