Why do critics hate it so much?
Why do critics hate it so much?

Look at it
it was shit
Marvel is in seriously deep shit with Captain Marvel, and they know it.
Because it doesn't feature enough feminism.
It's an action girl trope, but she's still servile to her daddy figure creator, like the good little maiden she is. This is too traditional, and eventhough every normal person (especially women) love it, it doesn't sit well with the SJW and cultural-marxists outlets.
It was bad and critics are all in pockets of didney.
Probably because even if they know it's a decent adaptation, they know that it isn't really a good movie. Looking at it purely from a stand-alone cinema experience
>cringe dialog
>too much shit crammed into a single movie
>that in turn ruins the romance completely
>romance further crushed by miscast hugo
>no R rating that hamstrings the action when the action is basically the only actually great thing in the movie
>tried to be too faithful in too many details that actively ruin what could have been good scenes, mostly dialog/henchmen shit like "little flea" and evil laughter like it's a fucking saturday morning cartoon count chocula
It's a damn shame, it could have been pretty good.
>Why do critics hate it so much?
they hate her cuz they aint her
Help. Please. I ate too much and now I don't feel good. Please help.
They can't allow Captain Marvel to have any competition... Marvel has too much riding on CM.
not only critics, the movie flopped worldwide, remember when you shills kept spamming "CHINA WILL SAVE US"?
>Yea Forums unironically believes Disney wants ABA to fail when Disney now owns ABA
>robots programmed by men are far more tolerable, useful and capable of love than actual biological women
You tell me
I figured the scene where the inglorious basterds guy was going to save the female victim only for it to turn out that the female victim was only pretending to play the victim, would have pissed off a lot of angry feminists
Disney owns a lot of things, they get money from lots and lots of places, plenty of movie studios included
You think they only get money from MCU movies and Disney movies? Yea Forums is full of low IQ retards
China did save it. You are not good at telling lies, user.
the only correct answer
Disney does not own ABA. Fox does not own ABA.
Cameron owns ABA.
Strong female character that doesn't conform to false feminist principals, ergo not easily manipulated. Can't have a true positive example right before the "First Female Super Hero Ever" movie comes out.
havent seen it
what % of this film is romance and what % is action?
>sit well with the SJW and cultural-marxists outlets
>"Iron city", originally "Dumpster City", was a hellhole of human and inhuman misery devoid of morals, everyone is trash and treated as such. Everyone slaves off for the factory, no one can rebel against them, motorball is not a sport, but a beastly distraction for adrenaline addicts. Happiness doesn't fucking exist.
how it is presented in this "movie"
>oppressive technological dystopia but who cares, we live in a beautiful vibrant multicultural favela where everyone mostly gets along and lives fine. multikulti south-american shithole with fancy metal arms which are seen as completely normal and not generally as a loss on humanity, woo-hoo.
i haven't seen this capeshit-with-more-cgi-than-even-the-usual, but i mean, look at it..
this if I am being honest my family member
It's not what happens though, because she defies him and he has to accept it, and her future choices. It's more feminist than Disney could ever hope to produce, but not SJW nonsense.
>n many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends
prove that i'm lying, it only made 64 million, which is pathetic
Poor trolls see Alita general at #78, and can do nothing but sulk outside. : )
The dialogue is shounen tier
64 million opening in China is excellent.
If you know it was 64 million, then you read the articles that said that was an excellent opening.
So you lied, shithead. : )
keep making threads, it needs 500 million to break even and it's still at 280 million, how embarrassing
Because it reminded people
>oh shit there have been loads of action movies starring super women
And that's no bueno when the first ever soli female superhero movie is coming out soon
It's reddit approved so that should tell you what you need to know
>keep making threads, it needs 500 million to break even and it's still at 280 million, how embarrassing
It needs 340m, mousecuck
this doesnt answer my question at all i dont get it
i dont go to reddit
UH OH there's a television board and movie board on reddit, Film and TV are Reddit approved. Jesus christ man, why does 4channel allow this reddit ass board on our epic site for chads?
350 million, user. It is already well over 280 million- foreign numbers don't come in until Tuesday.
You know who else got this upset when their favorite product was called reddit? The guardian of the galaxy and /got/ plebs
makes you think
>"I-IT'S NOT FLOPPIN AAAAAAAAAAAH NO NO NO IT NEEDS 340 MILLION TO BREAK EVEN WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT REDDIT, AAAAAH WE'RE GOING TO MAKE IT!!!!"
hahahaha fucking discord trannies, fuck outta here and stop embarrassing yourselves
>hahahaha fucking discord trannies, fuck outta here and stop embarrassing yourselves
Prepare to eat that Blu-Ray, mousecuck
You guys call everything reddit though. It's like your go to criticism to any movie you don't happen to like or approve of.
if you don't like it, go back
>discord trannies
Very true considering the first post you replied to
Unironically based and redpilled.
It isn't a proper feministkino, that's why.
>hahahaha fucking discord trannies, fuck outta here and stop embarrassing yourselves
i thought trannies don't like this movie
Why the fuck would I want to watch this movie after reading this post? Sounds fucking awful.
one of the main shills is this tranny
Yea Forums got raided by discord trannies, reddit, twitter and facebook shitskins, the board is officially dead
the last good thread was Alex Jones on JRE from a few days ago, all the reddit tourists and trannies were kept away because they hate Alex Jones
This is what I thought. It actually felt like watching an anime which is fine in a cartoon but kind of weird feeling in an actual movie. If this story was split Into 3 movies with more depth and detail and without all the cringy dialogue it would have been amazing.
>we live in a beautiful vibrant multicultural favela where everyone mostly gets along and lives fine
That's not exactly true. A lot of innocent people are suffering either from gangs which rip them apart for mechanical parts or getting killed by psychopatic cyborgs.
And let's not forget that the movie is shown throught a lens of perception of Alita. It's all new and unfamiliar for her and she doesn't know any better.
The fact that sneeditors haven't gone after the alita general makes me believe they're from the same place they came from. the hotpocket watches over that general the exact same way he did reylo
Maybe he is an Alita fan? Dunno, what is said about generals on Yea Forums? There was a Twin Peaks general, I remember.
because it's going to make more than captain marvel, and it has a feminine hero.
Because men enjoyed it.
Agreed. Still liked it but I noticed all of the above noted. Wish it were better because there is much to love in it.
>there is much to love in it
There's also a lot of love that went into it, it's why my experience was soured to such an extent. As a long time fan of the manga, I could see these little details and such an adherence to the source material and it only made the faults more bitter, because I know that many of those faults were probably forced onto it from decisions out of Cameron's hands.
I think I'll still get a blu-ray despite how I kinda think it's a 4/10 movie just because of the love put into it, so I can watch it for the little details and try to put aside the cringe and enjoy it for a fun action ride.
Unironically this. There's no political message so its bad
They don't, really. It got mediocre reviews because it's a mediocre movie.
>Because it doesn't feature enough feminism.
>It's an action girl trope, but she's still servile to her daddy figure creator,
No she isn't. She loves him, but she becomes a bounty hunter against his will, becomes a rollerballer against his will, sneaks out at night even when he doesn't want her to and insists on living as a warrior when he rather had her be his clinical assistant.
If anything it's a pretty realistic depiction of teenage rebellion where a child may turn out differently than her parent wants her to but he still loves and supports her.
God, did you just make me defend the writing in this shitty movie?
Well yes, people suffer from the handful of bad guys the film introduces but they are directly related to the evil upper city. It was portrayed as some happy go lucky place during the day with the Doctor fine with letting Alita go out on her own where she would meet all the wonderful multicultural people, buy delicious food and play games.
Eyy someone else posted the quote. Its true, the mouse has fallen a long way
this movie is kino, rip the mouse we once knew
It was a lighthearted movie. Sure, it could have gone full on grimdark but I think it made the right call portraying it's setting as a place where people are holding on and making the best of it, despite living in the aftermath of a devastating war that was, at that point, multiple centuries ago.
The character was really cool looking and likable but the plot was uninteresting. The acting was also bad. Not a memorable soundtrack. Uninteresting shots.
based
yes
This
Looks like capeshit
>The acting was also bad.
depends, some bad and some good moments
>Not a memorable soundtrack
the whole movie feels like a throwback to the 90s and the soundtrack fits that, it wasn't super original but it was mostly effective
and there are still some inspired moments so I kind of disagree with your statement
I suggest listening to this:
youtube.com
>Uninteresting shots
there's plenty of interesting shots, the Motorball sequence for example is a masterclass on how to properly frame action so that everything doesn't become a blurry CG mess
shit quality webm doesn't do it justice but you can still tell how well the action is presented
It's not a Disney movie, they aren't allowed to give it a good review
huh?
A big budget movie starring a female lead needed to be panned and forgotten so the disney big budget movie starring a female can seem more unique and "important". We can't pretend most critics aren't owned by disney at this point.
Name literally any movie shilled harder or more brazenly on this board than this one. I'll wait.
Captain Marvel, there are about 5+ threads at all times of the day.
They no longer distinguish simple plots from primitive plots.
Infected with gray morality cancer.
There are no minorities in the film which are terribly insulting.
Finally they were not paid.
>60% critic
WHY DO CRITICS FUCKING HATE AND RALLY TO MAKE THIS MOVIE FAIL??????????
>his most important rule for her is that she not become a hunter
>she becomes a hunter anyway
Much servile. Very cowardly.
Users score 94%
Eh, I liked the plot just fine. It just could have been cut better. No movie should ever go for more than 90 minutes.
>no R rating that hamstrings the action
Most of the fighting is between cyborgs though, that one mutt who died got cut in half and it was quite gory.
this
seeing how passionately anons jumped into "we are being persecuted for liking this anime waifu" mode because critics have a lukewarm reception to it now explains how the jews have fostered so much goodwill over the years off sympathy points, how SJWs came to be, and how the alt-right have managed every single white male that they are in fact the ones being targeted by big media. Apparently if everything doesn't go exactly your way, there is some conspiracy to make you fail and to ruin everything you like.
Green Book man is in it, maybe it doesn't count since he's a villain.
The MC is the only Martian cyborg in existence. If that's not a minority then I don't know what is.
You know what also has a huge critical and audience score discrepancy? Boondock Saints, a film with flashy action, cliche characters, and generic dialogue. Huh... kinda sounds like something.
Because of Captain Marvel
Cringe.
Why is it shilled so hard?
critics just don't understand kino like we do
Imagine making such ridiculously sweeping generalizations based on anecdotal evidence and pure conjecture and then feeling so unbelievably smug about it that you write this dumb fucking post because you actually think you're explaining something but really you dont know shit and you're just another dumbass with delusions of intelligence
boy imagine being so mentally deficit you're easily convinced by a single dumb opinion on a taiwanese thread stitching forum
imagine being so utterly butthurt that I described you with pinpoint accuracy that you actually decided to reply to it instead of ignoring it like 80% of the (you)-less replies on this thread
Is that what you were imagining? Since you just did it
Lol
>he was so buttblasted he replied to you pointing out how buttblasted
That floaty cgi in that webm looks like shit family.
The critics are in the same position as the trolls.
Marvel is all they have... and Marvel is starting to crumble. They hate the core audience too much not to change the formula, just like they did with Star Wars.
So, they lash out in a rage at anything else.
All they've done with Star Wars since the prequels is to slavishly adhere to the formula.
>The critics are in the same position as the trolls.
A 60/40 split would more than imply that the critics aren't even in position with each other.
