Can anyone post the webm of Alita seeing herself in the mirror for the first time?
Ryder Sullivan
What's the ceiling for the movie? 300 mill? I don't see it getting past that
Blake Cox
I mean it's just one movie, and I feel like everyone that saw it has already put in their two cents on what they thought about the movie whether it was good or bad. But remember we're doing it for Alita
Michael King
Um... user... it just passed that tonight. The ceiling for the movie is 450 million.
Noah Brooks
They're shills and redditors they can't
Josiah Campbell
>Does it bother you, user...That I'm not completely kino?
No I'm just curious. I really want a sequel, but I wasn't sure if the movie had strong legs or not.
Liam Morris
nobody gives a shit about poor yukito. i have seen no shitposting in his official english forum since i posted the link here jajatom.moo.jp/E-top/frame.html
Brandon Campbell
>The end result was 8.5 million polygons per eye compared to Gollum who had 50,000 polygons total for his entire character.
Colton Morales
I am not talking about you, I am talking about the mouse...
Carson Morales
>The ceiling for the movie is 450 million.
dear jesus, we dont talk too often but could you . . . .
Based on my calculations, which I've very realistically taken into account drop offs and accurate numbers, the movie will be sitting above 350 to 370 million on Monday.
Hudson Cox
nice try jerome
Reminder to the lurkers. /ABAG/ DOES NOT like pleb trash the cycle is never wrong >plebs come to /ABAG/ to shitpost and spew their vitriol and negative opinions about Alita: Battle Angel >the patrician regular /ABAG/ posters either do not take the bait or tell the plebs to fuck off >the plebs get bored and leave because they have other threads to shitpost in >all that's left are the regular /ABAG/ posters >plebs hate Alita: Battle Angel since it is a near flawless movie that will be discussed on Yea Forums for decades to come
Jace Roberts
I'll buy it even though I still have 1080p TV for now
Aiden Rivera
400 to 450 million is not bad at all user. Fox insiders have already said the break even point is 350 million.
I'm seeing it for a 6th time tomorrow and then another time next Wednesday. It will become my most viewed film in a cinema and I intend to keep it my most viewed. I fucking love this movie so much.
I only saw it twice. Wish I could have seen it in IMAX but they were making way for dragons 3. I saw them taking down the huge Alita poster down. I also went up and asked if i could have it.
Sebastian Rodriguez
Three so far. Have ticket for fourth already.
Hudson Jenkins
is Yea Forums the only place where this level of irony can exist?
Adam Gutierrez
only 2 X Vmax 3D, but i got 12 other people to see it. also artbook and OST.
Gavin Hall
I can't. It's impossible for me. Please enjoy it for me, anons. I'll... catch up one day.
Adam Wood
>Thinks I'm being ironic You clearly haven't watched Alita user. You haven't been healed yet.
I'm only post here and spreading the word of Alita because Jimmy and Bob came to my house and handed me a large sum of moneys to shill this movie on Yea Forums gotta keep my end of the deal if i want to see more cash by the end of the month.
Landon Howard
Why do redditors need to talk about how many times they've seen it? Is it because they're corporate dogs? Very strange considering the pro commie message
I never thought I'd see the day where people on Yea Forums would be gobbling up capeshit. Before you reply >b-b-but it isn't capeshit even though Yea Forums has universally agreed Star Wars is capeshit!, remember that 1. She is not a human 2. She has super human abilities 3. She fights things with super human abilities 4. She is the hero. Therefore, she is a superhero and thus this is capeshit. Furthermore, the manga was literally based on various capeshit that Japan was into. The fact Yea Forums is supporting this is a sad fucking day. Fuck all capeshit and fuck you for liking it. You're killing the film industry with your banal adaptations which will result in just capeshit. Well, your paving the road to this. Good job.
Ryan Ward
Reminder to the lurkers. Yea Forums DOES like kino the cycle is never wrong >plebs come to Yea Forums to talk about shit and spew random images from reddit and discord >the patrician regular posters casually point out the genuine merits of the movie >the plebs leave because they have capeshit to worship >all that's left are the regular /ABAG/ posters >they love it since movies like this tend to be kino
This movie was fucking terrible, and it's fanboys are the very definition of beta males.
Go hit the gym, you fucking losers.
Carson Torres
3 times in IMAX. Since it's out of IMAX where I live, I don't know if I'll see it again. The last time I went was so great because I had the entire theater to myself. I don't think I can replicate that holy union of comfy/KINO ever again.
No. Fuck all capeshit. Fuck this. It's the same fucking shit. Origin story, punch things, quip 'MUH STAND BY WITH EVIL :DDD' and then punch more things. Defeat evil organisation. All is happy.
It isn't pasta, check the archives, you're free to post it if you want though.
Does it have a non-human with superpowers defeating evil with superpowers? Then yes, it is capeshit. A guy with CIA training and a gun defeating people isn't capeshit as he is just a human. James Bond defeating a bad guy isn't capeshit. None of them are superhuman. You're literally defending capeshit because you want it to beat another capeshit you don't like. They're both shit and killing the industry. Disney can die in a fire RIGHT NOW and I would not care. Same with DC.
I get it, we're supporting a mediocre movie that is essentially a superhero origin story and a billion dollar corporation to get back at another mediocre movie that is essentially a superhero origin story and a billion dollar corporation. Right. Got it guys. This is some epic meme. I like it. Where can I subscribe for more?
Might as well be pasta because i've seen similar post.
Oliver Sullivan
Yes and his death is completely different to the anime and was an annoying part because of that. That's like saying Infinity War isn't capeshit because loads of people died. Fuck off with that. It still ended with the good guy doing good guy things.
Christopher Sanchez
It's happy because she's single again and I still have a chance!
Dylan Gonzalez
Yes
Kayden Sanchez
>Does it have a non-human with superpowers defeating evil with superpowers? Alita is human and doesn't have superpowers though.
Nicholas Hernandez
But you said all is happy, which isn't true.
Jason Allen
Glad somebody else has voiced an opinion similar to mine. It is capeshit and is ruining the industry. I'm fine with people liking it, but you're liking ot purely to get back at another capeshit factory, instead of trying to support films that aren't fucking capeshit.
That's liking saying Iron Man is a human and doesn't have superpowers; he's fucking capeshit tho. Alita is the same, she isn't a full human by our definition and she has powers beyond regular normal every day right here on earth now humans.
Angel Harris
why can't we just enjoy a movie because it's fun
Brody Cruz
Wow, so basically you hate all fantasy and all sci-fi, then. You intentionally limit your scope this way?
Nicholas Barnes
>abusing the term capeshit k
Julian Walker
I already explained that. If Alita isn't capeshit then neither is Iron Man or Black Panther or Batman because hey, they're 'human' and just have suits and gadgets and shit! Ignore their abilities way beyond anything a normal human sitting in the seat next to you can do!
Levi Rivera
Can you do one without lettering and also one of her cut out?
Only sane method to read MartianC is via wiki pages.
Parker Hill
>she has powers beyond regular normal First she's just stronger than her opponents, just like any hero (see westerns), nothing like a "superpower", second I think Sci Fi is really not your genre, just give up.
Oliver Allen
No, because sci-fi and fantasy aren't based around the same core storyboard. Origin; warmup; escalation; climax. Alita is.
Not at all, you just don't like the term because it's about something you like. Lots of people like Star Wars but you search archives for 'Star Wars' and 'Capeshit' and you'll find plenty of matches.
You can, but reading this thread there seems to be the intent purely to 'get at Disneyshills' or some weird fucking gimmick when you're supporting a billion dollar company with the same fucking generic story as the capeshit factory that is Disney and DC. The fact there is a general with outright 'go see it more than once guys' type posts is also fucking gay and is literally shilling. It's a mediocre film that could have been better and the anime is superior. It should be left like that, but a large % of you are turning it into a war with Disney which just ends up producing more capeshit in the end or capeshit similar things.
And she has super human abilities compared to the average human. You cannot deny this. She is therefore 'superhuman' and thus combined with your own words of 'Hero' she is a 'Superhero'.
Jacob Johnson
I haven't been to the theater since Tuesday night. Having Alita withdrawels... gotta go tomorrow
Just got back from seeing Alita on a huge IMAX screen. I cried at the two scenes at the end. I had tears flowing down my face, but I didn't wipe them so nobody can see me crying like a pussy, I let the tears dry by themselves.
You faggots convinced to see this movie twice...I only saw 2 movies more then once at the cinema in my life, this and BR2049....
>Is BR2049 that good? it takes all of the things you like about the original and does it better
James Hernandez
i didn't see it because i love the original blade runner and i fuuuuuuuccking hate jared leto, should i watch it?
Chase Ross
When she’s staring at the ground before she even makes eye contact is one of my favorite scenes
Ethan Cruz
>This BATTLE ANGEL seeks to take flight >...will it be The Undertaker's SWAN SONG?
Chase Barnes
where are you getting this high quality webm?
Xavier Mitchell
If you hate him you'll hate him in this movie too, since his character was written to be. It should work out. Also JOI is basically the 0.9b version of Alita.
No way Joi can be compared to Alita. Alita outdoes her in every class.
Nicholas Anderson
Hence she's the beta version.
Justin White
It happened when Alita was holding Hugo in her hands after he got stabbed, and then she was holding Hugo by his robo hand...it was because of the raw emotion on Alita's face....I cant explain it...it felt so real, I was feeling what Alita was feeling at the exact same moment, not a single movie made me feel that apart from BR2049 and Alita.
capeshit isnt about the characters powers but the origin of their story, Iron man comes from a long line of american style superhero comics generally low on graphic violence and child friendly. Alita is a Manga heroine her story is high on violence and not child friendly.
Cameron Johnson
thanks user
William Martinez
>Punisher. Also capeshit isn't about that, but the hint is in the name. Shit movies based on comics. Alita is not a shit movie.
>and does it better lol no, Harrison Ford is out of place to begin with, he didn't age well as an actor, you definitely can't say his character is better. Not to mention facial-palsy-gosling... And suddenly the replicants are officers and shiet wtf ?
Ian Kelly
>Crying at the final alita/Hugo scene
I do not blame you in the slightest. It was an utterly emotional scene that had no right to be in an anime remake. All their scenes were fantastic. But how you could see her resignation when they realize his arm isn't gonna hold my God. I haven't seen such a good scene of utter resignation in the face of a lost love since didier haudepin's last scene in Les amities particulieres.
Alright anons, I have to go to sleep, but know that I love you all and wish us all great luck in these next few days. We will prevail and Alita will be looked at as the rare underdog adaptation that managed to top expectations. To the OP who is making the generals, I made a couple pictures to make as the head picture. Use them if you want. I'll post more tomorrow night and Sunday, but until then, have fun you guys and stay out of trouble!
>But how you could see her resignation when they realize his arm isn't gonna hold Fuckin same. Literally the definition of "subverting my expectations". My expectations were indeed subverted on that scene alone. It's just so expected at this point that one of two things happens in situations like these, the tension exists but is then immediately relieved as the character in peril is actually saved, or in the other case the tension builds up until the character in peril perishes to the surprise of everybody.
Here, though, it was different. They both KNEW that the arm wasn't going to hold, and acting was so, so goddamn subtle but that resignation in their face moments before the inevitable, Fuck man, that isn't something you see in many movies.
Oliver Phillips
I meant "comics" as US comics, essentially capeshit =/= manga =/= BD.
David Gray
I scoured through youtube to find all the trailers and just made webms off of them. That was just one of them.
>that scene in the cathedral where alita watches hugo die >that scene where she pleads to hugo to come down from the cable These two were the same scenes that made me feel for the exact reason that you said.
There are a few things in life that are truly bad ass. There's me, The Undertaker: The American Badass. There's the Sneed posters, hmmmmm don't wanna mess with them. There's the Baneposters, Pepe's that piss off Janny, Monerbros...and there are those that post in /ABAG/, they're baaaaaad to the bone.
I watched the ova and read the manga. I knew that scene was gonna come up in the movie in the end, but man was i not prepared to get all choked up when the arm broke off.
Jaxon Cruz
Boatman knows his cinema.
Andrew Price
Her voice is fantastic yeah. I love how in the beginning it's just super shy and quiet and how it changes over time. God this character was magic. Rosa really did a number on this honestly alita carried the film.
Exactly. Like the scene where she touched his robot hand after he loses his body. It's not so much the scene but the implications behind it that get to you because of how well she was built up. A lot of people diss on Hugo but honestly this was alitas journey not his so of course he couldn't be too good.
William Rogers
>But what does it matter? I tore people apart. People like you... for money. >Where were you tonight? >I went to stop the others, tell them I quit. >Why? >Because I love you. FUCK YOU MOVIE, STOP MAKING ME CRY
I just saw this movie 40 minutes ago in imax because of how amazing everyone here said it was and outside of the action I thought it was pretty bad
Isaiah Young
It was the voice too that made it too. That borderline cracked at the seams where you could tell the emotion. I need to rewatch this shit again.
Adam Hughes
i hate you
Nathaniel Allen
If I catch one I'm gonna use your pic user
Henry Carter
Sorry to hear that user. Let me get you a refund.
Brandon Flores
Right. taken as a whole, the movie is pretty damn good but still a stone toss away from perfection and masterpiece, but within the whole are individual scenes that are just so unbelievably good that (to me) it excuses or makes up for all the parts that were lackluster or not as good.
I swear, it's the fucking expressiveness of Alita's face. The mocap tech is utilized supremely well here. Rosa's voice work was on point as well.
:57 - 1:02 favroite section of the entire ost. Those 2 notes condense all the magic of that awakening scene. So simple and so melancholy. youtube.com/watch?v=jdQLd94Ix1w
u wot m8 Mars Chronicle is fucking great. Took me a while to warm up to Muster but he had a GOAT sadomasochistic death scene and in defiance of the haters and years of ZOTT the main plot is actually advancing. The first few chapters with all the cute orphan girls getting brutally executed by mercenaries was KINO. Welcome to Mars motherfuckers.
B2049 reflects the worst in humanity and society, and Alita reflects the hope we have for something better. They're both great for divergent reasons. Use both wisely
I just want a ai or robowaifu. I'll even settle for a 3DPD at this rate.
Josiah Wright
excited laughter at motorball is best Alita
Nicholas Cruz
Guys, I had a terrible nightmare. We must NEVER let robots have sexuality. It is too dangerous. We will destroy ourselves. We must destroy all research on Artifical Sperm and Artificial wombs. I repeat, it is far too dangerous.
David Campbell
I'm sad. I just checked showtimes for my local Cineplex for March 7 and Alita is going to be GONE while FIVE out of thirteen are set to play Captain Marvel. Why is this world so cruel?
this movie is kino and i'm going to see it for a third time on tuesday
Cameron Diaz
I know it's playing elsewhere in the city. I'm just pissed that it's getting knocked off the screens in the big complexes while something like "Isn't It Romantic" still gets a screen.
Isaiah Cox
Checked and you just need to find another theater. Mine is still showing Alita and will presumably for quiet a while. They were showing Blade Runner 2049 like up to a month before it released on DVD, if I remember correctly.
Carter Lewis
*psssht* *sips* Yep, the Berserker sure was a great cyber body. Not like that Imaginos crap these kids have nowadays. *sips* Man, they sure don't make em' like they used to.
Looks like they're just selling the tickets for the evening showtimes, which are more likely to be packed. That's pretty standard. Come Monday or so, everything else will be made available when the theaters sends the scheduling info to Fandango/wherever.
Nicholas Cox
>good news: cell phone network still works and you can actually make a phone call into Alita's head mid-game Do they also have Internet ?
I assume she had other attachments because with arms like those, how could she have done anything related to daily life?
Joshua Sullivan
I'll make one tomorrow when I get the chance. Actually I'll make a bunch of webms tomorrow. Remember me as Peaches.
Hunter Diaz
When you think about it, the blades are useless for everyday life, unless she switches the blades out for hands when she isn't stalking the streets at night
In retrospect with all the movie does right, it's not a great OVA at all. Still, it was brought over here early because it's violent and has boobies.
Xavier Bell
So based.
Just saw it for the first time. Fantastic, Rodriguez was the perfect director choice for this, the motorball stuff was right out of spy kids
Jace Scott
My expectations were so low going in that anything above garbage would have been satisfactory. The fact that it was far above that level only made it even better. James Cameon really pulled out all the stops for this project.
Jonathan Adams
>Rosa Salazar got a restraining order from her one month BF, apparently she kept calling him non-stop and leaving messages, even went to his house and screamed a lot, the says she even threatned calling the cops and saying he hit her if he does not take her back
Poor IRL ALITA... do you guys think the awkward teenage love story in the movie made her morer desperate?
Alita is cute and you want to see her succeed. Simpe as that. Tight paced story with a lot of rewatch value and the vibe felt like an action movie from an era we'll never get back. There was just an obvious amount of passion put into what is essentially, a pretty wacky manga and instead of adapting out stuff that might be cheesy, they went in fully with no irony. And again, Alita delivers everything so sincerely that even her psyching herself up in the bar seems kind of badass. Can't wait for more. It was a cool drink of water in a barren movie world.
She was only trying to get her boyfriend to come watch Alita.
Bentley Baker
Her naive outlook was cute and all, but it was also one of her core flaws. She loved him to a fault, and while, the ending implies she'll fight for him and the others she loves, she still learned to mature and distance herself a little for the sake of not enduring more heartbreak. I'm very curious how a sequel would show Alita now.
And I say those flaws were what brought Alita live as a character. I really hope they don't go the route of jaded, super girl-warrior. We already have Captain Marvel, we don't need another stoic heroine. On the other hand, her maturing is essential to her development and it the sequels would fall flat as stories without it. I hope Cameron and Rodriguez can balance that.
Samuel Harris
Yea Forums dubs alita ova ep2 ending
Michael Davis
>not 3D
Kevin Richardson
niqqa wtf what backwoods shithole country do u live in?
Nicholas Butler
ittsa good show
Adrian Perez
just came back from seeing it tl;dr, it was an enjoyable action flick with some flaws that ultimately don't ruin the movie I really liked the design of the world and the attention to detail in making the characters feel like they're a part of that world the action was solid and for the most part didn't rely on quick cuts to obfuscate what was happening I wish they had spent some more time fleshing out Alita's initial relationship with Ido before going straight into the rebellious teenager stuff really the first third of the movie in general felt a bit rushed, but I appreciate leaving the last half of the movie more intact and that time had to come out of somewhere I actually kind of hope an extended cut could exist at some point to restore more of that first third teeny-tiniest nitpick I have is that one scene of Alita coming home late and arguing with Ido, then IMMEDIATELY transitioning back to her with Hugo, when it would have clearly flowed much better the other way around all in all, I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and went and saw it in the theaters
Oh yeah, I'm sure they found a way to make her still a little charismatic while still emotionally a little stunted. Considering they strengthened Ido and Alita's relationship in the film greatly, they'll make sure she still is a unique, fun character, just with more dark and jaded tendencies.
Jeremiah Flores
is a salty, soa soa salty.
Alexander Diaz
i've always been part of tv im the one that made this for the mr. bond meme with le chifre
It's an origin story sure, but it's far from capeshit
Bentley Nguyen
It's much more enjoyable in the second view. You pick up a lot more and the romance doesn't feel as bad and you actually understand it was an essential part of the film.
