I think you'll find that they didn't stop, there are still b and c parody films being made and there'll probably be a big one soon.

The Documentary Now! series which the third season just started again is fucking genius parody for example. It's extremely well written and they go to autistic film nerd lengths to match the style of the documentaries they're parodying. If you've seen any of the films they do, then definately watch their mock episode.

I'm suggesting that two of the co-writers on Scary Movie went on to make cash-grab bullshit that nobody liked and effectively killed a whole sub-genre in the process.

Borat is novel in that it's the movie equivalent of reality TV, but the schtick gets old and the movie doesn't hold up to rewatching imo. Still decent overall.

My main point is that the kind of comedic writing in The Naked Gun or even Airplane will never come back because of the stranglehold jewy, brainless comedy has had since superbad
