That could be Darth Maul

Just imagine.

Opinion: Darth Maul's character design was good and that, had the writing not been shit it could have been an iconic character.

this would be the intro song for Darth Maul

>a ginger with a thinning head

The design we got was better.

Terrifying, isn't it?

Maul could've saved ATOC if Lucas didn't kill him off stupidly.

So, seeing that this design clearly depicts a little kid, would Obi Wan be the one who killed a youngling in that timeline?

darth maul is still iconic

Not a bad drummer, btw.

Face looks too young. Looks like a kid who got spaghetti dumped on his head.

That's just one of many renditions. Lucas just asked his artists to draw the scariest thing they can think of, then he chose the one he liked the most.

He's superb.

Hes an amazing drummer.

darth maul is fine. villains dont need to speak or monologue about their bullshit. maul is plain and simple, which today is refreshing. all he does is try to kill jedi, and looks good doing it.

Maul could have been a way to show why the sith are more fucked up than the already dickish jedi

they could have shown him prepping up and meditating in his torture dungeon or something

plus Darth Maul was originally going to be played by Benicio Del Toro. But since it would involve Ray Park teaching him the movies, and Maul was going to be covered in make-up, they just used Ray Park and redid his voice.

Darth Yachty

Not a bad design at all actually. Speaks to you in a more primitive level, but in a way it's more intimidating than the final product.

I remember the artist talking about this on the old starwars.com. Like George told him to draw his biggest nightmare. Guy drew this and George was
>okay, second biggest nightmare
Guy drew a clown and the third one was Maul as we know it.
Funny story, but it shows that Lucas was pushing his artists till he got the desired result.
That's why John Willaims did better work on the prequels, and just forgettable shit on ST. Cause Abrams and Rian were just fanboying around him, while Lucas made him work for the check he was writing him.
When you read those "Art of" books for TFA they're full of snippets how Abrams approved the first design and how supportive he was. Some guy designed Rey's sleeping quarters inside that AT-AT, JJ just stamped off on it and the guy was
>but usually we do this for months
Also they would constantly talk about expanding their horizons in terms of designs, but in the end always they would just do a repaint of some OT design like they were scared the ghost of Ralph McQuarrie is gonna haunt them or something.
Pic related is by the same artists who drew this version of Maul. He just pasted Luke's fucking face on top of sand.
