All Adam Curtis documentaries, which are secretly connected into what I call "the kinda true but painting in very broad strokes cinematic universe"
Also I have a feeling this didn't age well but it was twisty as a motherfucker when it dropped like a decade ago.

Microcosmos (1996)
Documentary about this:

Basically the retarded looking, sick, little girl on the left murdered her mother. Why? Well, it's revealed that the girl on the left is actually in her 20s, and her mother had been deliberately making her ill and passing her off as a small child in order to get charity money. The mother claimed the daugher suffered from leukemia, asthma, muscular dystrophy, and several other chronic conditions and had the mental capacity of a 7-year-old due to brain damage she suffered as a result of her premature birth. In reality, there was nothing wrong with her, both mentally and physically. Any illness she did have was deliberately caused by her mother.
>Dee Dee Blanchard was a Missouri mother who was murdered by her daughter and a boyfriend after having claimed, for years, that her daughter, Gypsy Rose, was sick and disabled, to the point of shaving her head, making her use a wheelchair in public, and subjecting her to unnecessary medication and surgery. Gypsy possessed no outstanding illnesses. Feldman said it is the first case he is aware of in a quarter-century of research where the victim killed the abuser.[67] Their story was shown on HBO's documentary film Mommy Dead and Dearest.[68]
The girl's mom sort of brainwashes her daughter into believing she has tons of life threatening illnesses like cancer, among other things, as well messing with her birth certificate so she can always keep her under her control. Whole reason she did it was so she could get fame and money for being a parent who had a terminally ill child. The daughter meets a 30 year old man online and he kills the mom
Suicidekino
>The Bridge is a 2006 British-American documentary film by Eric Steel spanning one year of filming at the famed Golden Gate Bridge which crosses the Golden Gate entrance to San Francisco Bay, connecting the city of San Francisco, California to the Marin Headlands of Marin County, in 2004. The film captured a number of suicides, and featured interviews with family and friends of some of the identified people who had thrown themselves from the bridge that year.
>The film crew shot almost 10,000 hours of footage, recording 23 of the known 24 suicides off the bridge in 2004.[5][6]
She looks like Dan Schneider
Absolutely and unbelievably based
This was way way way better then I could have ever imagined a documentary about typeface to be
You mean her and her boyfriend killed the mom
This documentary is trash, talking heads and terrible editing. 3/10
Season 1 (one) and season 1 (one) only of How the Universe Works
Defamation
F for Fraud
High School (old one from the late sixties: climax is a principal reading a letter from a soldier in Vietnam who died -- not in protest but in support of the establishment)
Waco the lie continues
A Noble Lie OKC
The raw Naudet footage (inconclusive and unclear, of course, but very compelling)
The forbidden Bill Browder one that gets taken down as soon as it's posted because in America you are free to do as you are told
CROPSEY
The scariest horror movie you will see in a year, and it's all true, and it features Geraldo Rivera
>Fatman meme/11
>better than crumb
jesus christ this is some shit taste
saw this ages ago but remember it being really good
Does anyone know of any documentaries with spooky/creepy subjects like Cropsey, or The Nightmare?
Dirty Money episode 3 Payday
better go blind, not even reading episode description
I thought it was powerful and weirdly beautiful.
Speaking of a documentary ruined by terrible editing. See pic related.
>Comics guy documentary
>Good
Sounds like I ain't the one with shit taste here, pal
Yeah, the editing was annoying. They really had to drive it in that whatever was going on was a real emotional scene.
Polarizing choice when it comes to editing. Especially when it in the end it manages to deliver tenfold the same mix of emotion with the addition of a story to tell.
it was pretty funny and Crumb's family is so crazy it just wrote itself
Documentaries are indulgent, fascistic trash.
History kino
It's mostly declassified films but still very much worth a watch

Thinking Dear Zachary's editing is trash is one of the biggest pleb filters in cinema.
Most Interesting: All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace
Best: American Movie
that Ryan Murphy FX show was shit compared to the Academy Award Winning documentary.
The one about 2 guys who stalk the 80s one-hit wonder Tiffany
>all he got from the doc is that he made comics
fucking yikes.
Brainlet and shit taste
Finished watching this yesterday. Pure kino. Apparently the guy has made a few other documentaries and I'm gonna check them out eventually
based
>implying that's what I said
Based insecure kinolet, upset a superior being like me deemed his fave documentary a mere 6/10. Deal with it.
The Emperor's Naked Army Marches On
Are you a Samurai?!
Far too late brainlet, you have sullied your reputation as a film connoisseur and a human being. I suggest you take your leave.
Beat me to it. Brilliant documentary
Grizzly Man is great, but the first two are very overrated IMO. Dear Zachary is good the first time, bad the second when you see the absolutely atrocious editing ()
This one was pretty good. Capturing the Friedmans is a really similar one
American Movie is kino. Love the soundtrack of Mike playing classical/Metallica songs on a shitty acoustic. So good
AMAZING documentaries.

The three part (and later edited into one long film) German documentary about the battle of Stalingrad is the most interesting documentary that I've ever seen. It's both fascinating and horrifying how bad that battle was.
ohh thanks for sharing i will watch this now.
Probably recency bias but this was really good
He faked the calorie count of his Mcdonalds meals
Watch "fat head"
>The Act of Killing
>Overrated
Ok pal
>Dear Zachary's Editing
see
Great story but I don't see how the editing thing is a pleb filter. I've seen better edited fan documentaries. Great story but it shouldn't rely on exploitative editing, the story is emotive and strong enough as it is.
Inside Job
Going Clear
Hoop Dreams

>ywn be a manipulative alcoholic with Down Syndrome who shoots heroin with prostitutes
kill yourself already fat faggot
Crumb is really good.
Mr. Bitchin', the one about the artist Robert Williams is really good, too - same era, underground art. (He did the robot rape painting GnR used on Appetite)
"Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead" is worth watching. The doctor in it is Furhman, who's behind "Eat To Live." Fuhrman is a extremist in veganism, but his books have a TON of good nutritional info, and the basic ideas are solid: no sugar, eat nutrient dense foods that are low in calories, and eat a lot of it. If you want pizza, have it, but don't eat the whole thing. Have A slice.
These days, Fuhrman is on the "Im gonna live forever eating nothing but raw vegetables" train, but his book is a good place to start to clean up your eating. Just treat it as advice, not a bible. The documentary goes into getting off medications through diet, which is an important topic these days.
Shut up faggot, nobody asked you
The Ted Bundy doc on Netflix was good. abducted in plain sight for the wtf factor
Grizzly Man is probably the best documentary ever made
Black Metal Veins

Ok. Grizzly Man is great because of the beautiful footage Treadwell accidentally shot, the intriguing unhinged nature of the guy, and because it is unbelievably funny if you choose to watch it that way. First time I watched it, I watched it seriously. I showed a friend and she laughed harder than I ever heard her laugh.
Century of the Self is amazing because it shows how Freud's nephew used his ideas to create modern consumerism. It shows how advertising preys on our underlying weaknesses to get us to spend a bunch of money that we don't have. There's lots more to it but that's what struck me, as someone who started college right at the time of the financial collapse.
That good enough for you, you cunt?
