i rewatched this recently and it's shit
foster is great but hopkins is a giant fucking ham who completely ruins the role by being a brazen evil literal suckering psycho rather than a weird and compelling synthesis between a psycho killer and a cultured man

and he does his ridiculous sniffing noise over the 'i ate him' thing and downgrades the wine and it's just shit

What did the bee over her mouth symbolize?

Hopkins wasn't hamming it up as Hannibal until Hannibal and Red Dragon when the character became a caricature. He's mesmerising in this.

Sneed

trannies would lose their shit over it

>bee
it's a moth, faggot

she was silenced

[formerly chuck]

It was lightning in a bottle like Alien or the first season of True Detective.

Excellent writing and filmmaking that fell together brilliantly.

How can I make myself watch movies with female leads? I even have trouble sitting through movies in which female side characters take up too much time on screen.
I know it's supposed to be a great thriller but I can't imagine empathizing in any way with Jodie Foster

>After saving the senator's daughter, I can finally hear the Silence of the Lambs

It's actually pretty cool how they portray the FBI as a boys club that doesn't take her seriously until she steps up and proves herself worthy.

Mads > Hopkins

Mads is cool but that show was mediocre as fuck. Basic NBC crime show with the gore cranked up. Would have been so much better as an HBO series.

Clarice Starling is a great character. It's easy to watch female leads when they're well-written, have clear motivations, have obstacles they need to work at to overcome and being a woman is just one feature of them and not their defining characteristic.

Don't you ever feel small? Maybe you aren't so sure about situations at times but you find a way to perceiver? She's not a side character, she's the main character. You follow her 75% of the movie.

Wrong. The show was art. Pure art. It wrecks the asshole of the movies.

>they stressed the "he's not a real tranny!" point to avoid offending mentally-ill degenerates
>tfw today something like that would not be enough and the movie would still be piled upon and accused of being transphobic

it deserved all 5 oscars

Jodie Foster isn't a femme, she's based and basically a man's woman, the kind you could crack open a beer with

I still get a little nervous when the lights go out in the house and I've seen this like a hundred times

Yikes.

We had a lesbian friend like this in high school. Extremely fit and beautiful - not at all a stereotypical lesbian but she was very much one of the guys.
Incidentally she's one of the only gay women I knew growing who is still gay. The other ones ended up dating men after all.

amen. One of the best "Best Picture" winners. Terminator 2 was a good contender though, along with DeNiro in Cape Fear

Will was a faggot. Show was meh at best. Mads carried the show and that's it.

she cute
