Can movie theaters continue to withstand strong-arm tactics like this? They stand to lose a ton of money if Disney is going to coerce them into pushing out the older-run movies that those theaters make a better return on. Ms Marvel basically has to be mostly full in all these overbooked theaters to justify placating the mouse. I'm assuming there are no payouts from Disney to offset the losses, btw. I have no plans to see CM and would even enjoy watching it fail but you guys are retards. Most cinemas only let you pre-order tickets for new releases weeks in advance. Until Wednesday of this week, I couldn’t buy tickets for anything but the new Madea movie. But as of today I can see Alita, Glass, HTTYD3, LEGO Movie 2 etc.
Look at every Friday of every upcoming week. There is usually just one movie showing that you can buy tickets for, like March 22nd there will be Us screenings but it’s obviously just one screen. The other films that day the theater determines based on their box office so they don’t plan to screen flops three weeks ahead of time. The only crazy thing is my local cinema will be playing Captain Marvel on 4 screens (2D, 3D, IMAX and Dolby) but that’s standard for Disney tent poles.
Timetable for my local shows 3 screens playing CM at once. They have 4 screens. For 5 straight days. Even if they are running other movies yet to show up in the timetable, that's fucking ridiculous and unheard of here.

What's going on is that nobody can read theater listings. I'm in NC too. Checked all theaters near me, everything is normal. The times you listed show 3 screens playing CM. These theaters obviously have more than 3 screens. You see those because they already know that's what they're running. They're still deciding on what to show on other screens.

Check your theaters two weeks after Marvel is slated to release. Then up to one month. You should be able to see a full block of films lightyears in advance. There is nothing keeping the theaters from placing the other movies next to the Captain Marvel release. They already know what the advanced screening schedule is.
And even if they put up presold seats- this would not account for the entire country, or even internationally, for an untested, new IP in the Marvel universe.

And having worked for a theater shut is napped out for weeks and months but they do switch things up depending on performance. I worked in Idaho and Napoleon Dynamite stayed in first and second run houses for some 3-4 months. That want planned but it was simply adjusted. They know release schedule and plan that out so you can't say theaters only plan one week at a time or whatever these cum drinkers are saying

Theaters do it every week, the reason this one is special is because it's the only movie coming out on that day. They'll add more showings Monday night into Tuesday morning. Very rarely will they have a set scheduled for the week when a big movie is opening.

standard is being shown on 3 screens, 3D/3DDbox is 1 screen, DBox is usually part of a normal theater, they're just special seats that move, same with XD.

People saying it’s incomplete are correct. For big movies they expect to sell, the schedule is always only showing presales for new releases to get people to buy advanced tickets. In all my years of working as a theatre drone, I’ve never seen a single movie take over the whole store, that’d be business suicide. Even TLJ and Infinity War took up MAYBE 30% of the houses.

Disney buying out seats in theaters wouldn’t break even for the business lost in lack of concessions. I also can’t say I’ve ever seen it in the past, not even for Black Panther in areas like mine that are close to mostly black towns where they could legitimately fill all those seats.
