You can project as much as you want onto a cat, but cats are dumb and scientifically proven to be far dumber than dogs. Dogs are more social and that requires more brain power, which dog brains have, while cat brains don't. It's also obvious just how dumb cats are.

Eh. Dogs certainly had a lot of use and fulfilled vital roles (early warning, attack etc) when humans were more of a hunter-gatherer or shifting cultivator society.
