Why is Taxi Driver still such a relatable and relevant film 40+ years after release?

because there are even more Travis Bickles than there were back then. difference is now they're just fat and posting on Yea Forums and watching anime instead of driving taxis or going to porn theatres
Liam Sullivan
True

If I didn't have the internet and games to sedate me I would have lost it completely a long time ago
Liam Ramirez
Landon Jenkins
it's something only white men can relate to it. it won't be relevant in another 40 years when you're all extinct
Ethan Baker
This
Ryan Morgan
lmao
Lucas Moore
Because 40 years later angsty virgins still exist.
Owen James
based and redpilled
Angel Stewart
Because it is a universal story about how loneliness and isolation can drive a man insane. We are social animals after all. When you add in the abhorrent and unnatural conditions of 1970s New York - you get prime conditions to create psychopaths
James Perry
How is he so relateable?
Elijah Edwards
Lots of movies from that era are.
All we have now is garbage
Daniel Long
This is so idiotic in itself. Yes Travis isn't meant to be a hero or the good guy. He isn't even bad. He is just very neutral after being lonely for so long. But even if you consider him as a true antagonist... why can't antagonists be the leads? Why does it have to be the good guys always?
Aiden Johnson
He thinks he has it all figured out in his internal monologues but he always acts like an autist.
Ryan Wilson
>Lots of movies from that era are.
You have George Lucas to thank for Taxi Driver, Apolcaypse Now existing. Lucas was meant to direct Apocalypse Now (It was his idea) but the war had just ended and was too soon. He was the entire reason the new wave of film realism began existing thanks to his THX short film that was later turned into a feature film and his teenage flick: American Graffiti. Lucas would have done more serious dramas if he never made Star Wars but who doesn't love the OT? And the PG 13 rating was again all due to him writing Temple of Doom during a dark time in his life which is why it is so horrific. True genius.

>tfw that book has bad reviews online
Who could be behind this?
Anthony Young
Antagonist is someone who prevents the protagonist from achieving his goals. Even when the lead is a bad guy, he is never the antagonist, always protagonist.
Colton Richardson
Pretty much predicted the incel epidemic. also a reminder that in the original script, the pimp and all the gangsters and johns in the end who get killed were all originally supposed to be black. it's literally a movie about an incel white dude who gets sick of nigger shit until he explodes into a violent frenzy. quite literally "Yea Forums the movie"
Charles Robinson
So the main lead in film Rampage is the protagonist despite massacring his entire town?
Henry Brown
There was still racism in the movie though?
>"Do you know who lives there"
>Travis eyeing the black guy who was part of his Taxi friends in a very angry manner during climax of 2nd act
John Hill
If he's the main lead then yes, he's the protagonist. Villain protagonists are a thing.
Oliver Howard
>incel
He literally walks into the office of a 10/10 and scores a date with her, completely cucking her horny co-worker.
A 12 year old loli throws herself at him and he's sickened and only want's to set her straight.
This is not an "incel"
fuck off back to redit
Tyler Morales
>"Sweet Iris"
What did he mean by this?
Christopher Robinson
Like all true incels he fucks it up every time he has an opportunity to get laid
Alexander Martin
incel stands for "involuntary celibate" not "I can't get a date" you fucking retard
Logan Jackson
>Every incel is the same
No they are not
Grayson Cook
>tfw literally me

Daniel Rivera
Travis my be an autist an insane but he's still pretty tough. I wouldn't imagine it'd be hard for him to get pussy or go through with hiring a prostitute.
This is not a "incel"
Brayden Wood
>Travis is a walking contradiction. He hates the scuminess of New York but frequents porno theaters and drives around prostitutes. He talks about maintaining a good diet but pours liquor on his breakfast and pops pills constantly. The truth is, Travis is lonely, and as a result he's a mishmash of various ideologies.
>He's incapable of seeing Betsy's dismissiveness as anything but a superficial perception of his persona. And this is key to his character. Travis develops hatred for the lifestyles that reject him, and as a result, his repressed egotism grows.
H-haha, wow. Can you i-imagine being this troubled.
Juan White
You're stupid for needing to ask this. Go back to grade school.
Cameron Wilson
why does he take his date to a porn theater?
Andrew Jones
what is incel, do you have to be genuinely mentally ill like supreme gentleman?
Nolan Carter
Because he's autistic and warped and thinks it's normal?
Jacob Bennett
in that case it's just a dumb buzzword for "single"
Adam Cooper
involuntary celibate. Unwanted by the opposite sex
Kayden Morgan
well what about ugly rich guys? Theyre not really 'wanted' but they have sex
Gabriel Mitchell
Because he’s an incel virgin FREAK!
Camden Ramirez
then they aren't celibate are they
Landon Ortiz
>This is not a "incel"
Cooper Hughes
Man, I miss when movie posters looked iconic.
Joshua Gomez
>He made a negative observation about women
Oh yeah he's an incel alright, no sex for him
Bentley Nelson
It's not about sex. It's about the way he views woman i.e. incel
Caleb Williams
>score Tinder date
>show her your hentai collection
FUCK ROASTIES
Jack White
incel is about sex though. You can have those views and not be incel
Ryder Jackson
>muh reddit buzzwords
fuck off
Isaac Perry
>You can have those views and not be incel
lmao and yet somehow you're still a virgin
Robert Howard
its a movie loved by basedbois that realized live wasnt what their boomer father told them
as long as there is sheltered bois it will be remembered
Dominic Wood
Im not and youre missing the point. Why do you think being sexist has anything to do with being attractive?
Grayson Torres
You can tell this was written by a woman, or at least somebody who knows how to exaggerate like one.
Cameron Lopez
Protagonist is the main character. Protagonist does not mean "good guy".
Michael Anderson
yeah man, you have to be nice to girls to get pussy, they never open their legs for anyone who expresses contempt for them and treats them like garbage
William Hughes
overrated as fuck
Easton Rogers
this cut deep
Jonathan Lopez
go back
Michael James

Thomas Diaz
If Travis had a computer with internet then he would have been fine.
Jayden Rivera
but he's absolutely right
Jason Ramirez
Based and irony-pilled
Dylan James
I-im not fat.
Blake Powell
>even more Travis Bickles
Travis was a Vietnam veteran who was fucked up by his war experiences and lived in 70s NYC surrounded by the scum of humanity.
Jonathan Barnes
They only added the Vietnam aspect to his character since it was relevant at the time. The writer Paul Schrader who based Travis on himself and his feelings of loneliness and isolation wasn't a war veteran or anything. The world around is different but the essence of Travis is still the same.
Oliver Richardson
>High-risk, high-reward strategy
Based and redpilled
Lucas Jones
Scorsese makes asshole fantasies for people that wish they could be the asshole but know they never will. And I love em
Jackson Jenkins
Because guns and growing list of active shooter events
