Did Alita make enough money to get a sequel?

A better question is where the fuck are the Avatar sequels? Like holy shit Cameron, it's been over a decade now. I want Pandora kino back on the menu.

What a flop lol

>Avatar
>kino
lol no

>286,569,029
This takes into account only the USA and all other markets for the PAST WEEK.

It's pure scifi magnificence. Keep seething bitch nigga.

So yes?

It'll be the only new franchise Disney will have that wasn't a complete disaster like Wrinkle in Time or Nutcracker. This film will break even at the box office and do great on streaming and home media sales. I think a sequel is likely desu and it'll make more since they'll gain new fans who watched it after its theatrical run.

I'd like to see one.
Just saw it tonight - was fun, if a bit hollywood in parts.

C-grade sci-fi schlock with AAA+ production values and some brillantly directed action scenes

>c-grade
>muh pocahontas
Just fuck off, will you

Yes.

Attached: jjba-stardust-crusaders-yes-yes-yes.jpg (1280x722, 284K)

This. ALITA has the usual problems of an unknown IP that had the media against it. It'll do OK theatrically, become beloved on streaming and home video and eventually get two back to back sequels in 2025 and 2026. Screenshot away.

The media has been against it. Especially Deadline constantly moving the goalposts of break even as Alita keeps beating expectations.

Sequel baby

Memes aside why DOES the media fear it?
Haven't watched it yet seems like every other female superhero movie.

The disney shills and media have been against it day 1 because proximity to CM.
But we're gonna have a sequel and Disney will pay for it.

Attached: ironic.png (659x422, 566K)

I'm pissed that Alita wasn't marketed better
I literally hadn't heard of it before seeing the poster at the theater when I saw They Shall Not Grow Old
It angers me knowing so many potential viewers were denied knowledge of this unironic masterpiece

Attached: gnawlita.jpg (693x655, 306K)

>sequel

Yiikes

I like it when she eats the peeled orange slice.
Bretty gute.

Movie hasn’t made one red cent. Forget box office take, you need the post Hollywood accounting take.

>le diznee shills
LOl

Alita is cute, acts like a girl and has a love interest. There's no 'wamen stronk' bullshit, no condescending or talking down to either the audience or the male leads (see how Capt Marvel takes to Fury) and there's only a single, blink and you'll miss it, nut shot out of all of the fight scenes.

I need more Alita bros!

Attached: 1234182734.gif (220x220, 100K)

a porn sequel only lol

I'm seeing Alita on March 6 instead of Captain Marvel, purely because of the media.

Fox's marketing team dropped the ball on Alita because of the Disney-Fox deal. They literally sit and waited for months thinking that the Disney people would came down but the Rat tossed this one aside, probably in favor of promoting CM. So the whole thing afterward was rushed and unorganized. It happened with both Alita and Dark Pheonix. Such a shame really.

I actually preferred Alita to Avatar.

Hahaha, no. Execs and producers are already calling it the Alita Curse, she caused the worst President's day weekend in 15 years.
No sequel.

>"Alita Curse" is the name I just made up. I'm so cool now mom.
Stop your bullshit.

>Hahaha, no. Execs and producers are already calling it the Alita Curse, she caused the worst President's day weekend in 15 years.
>No sequel.
Unless daddy Cameron has something to say about it.

>$286,569,029
Damn that's a lot of money
She deserves every penny and more desu

This movie is pure kino and will get the sequel it deserves.
youtube.com/watch?v=6ySZt5TFo9E
youtube.com/watch?v=YjWXowvRRo4

What was production cost plus marketing (local and international)?

Watching it in 3D in the theater for definitely kino, despite the movie being a pile of dogshit

These things, they take time

I completely agree with you.

YOUR SHITTY LEGO MOVIE 2 MADE LESS THAN THAT YOU SPERG LOL!

I didn't even know that the movie has two 2x Oscar winning actors until I watched it.

user...

youtu.be/h67JpMyrOVE?t=31

No. Remember how Paul Feige said Ghostbusters had to make over 500mil to be considered a success? Well this cost more than that

>This takes into account only the USA and all other markets for the PAST WEEK.
Why the fuck are you lying?

>Why the fuck are you lying?
Honest questions, did Alita made more or less then?
even that seems like a lot of money and I think Alita is a success

It opened in a lot of foreign markets on the 8th or 14th of February and has been out domestically for two weeks now. It's already making less than a million daily. Fucking Tom Cruises Mummy had better holds than this

The media doesn't fear it you idiots. Stop projecting. Reporting that a movie is bombing when it is, that is mediocre, when it is, that it's tracking ectremely poorly, when it is, it's not a "campaign" against the movie.
It's what it is.
It's been a month and the movie is not even close to break even. A journalist reporting this fact is not slender.

Attached: download (1).jpg (300x168, 8K)

This is infuriating.
This is literally the first time I've ever cared about how well a movie does. I know it's a big budget Cameron film but now she's the underdog in my mind.
Also why is everyone acting like theaters are the end all be all? It's almost broken even and won't that mean blu-ray/streaming will tip it into the green?
t. pleb

Attached: 300 year old boomer.png (399x362, 377K)

most of that is foreign so no

Probably around 200 millions

that’s pathetic, man. take up painting or something for fuck sake. nobody’s going to give you a pat on the back for defending a cartoon on a lebanese tranny stalking app.

>A journalist reporting this fact is not slender.
Yeah, the same journalists who made rave reviews for TLJ are telling us Alita is mediocre

The point is that if you put a 150mil into a project, you don't want it to just break even or profiting like 30mil.
You were better off leaving those 150mil in the bank at that point.
No, if you're gonna invest 150mil you want to at least have a 70% profit margin.

>It's almost broken even
No it hasn't

s-so no sequel?

Attached: alita cry.png (633x353, 247K)

I'm just going to add this cost way more than 150 million

Don't worry, money is not a big that stopped Jim to do what he loves. If Alita turns to make some profit, that's enough for him to ask people to put in the money. The franchise can only grow from here. The sequel will make more money than the original. Just look at mega franchises like Fast & Furious, Transformers, MCU, the first DC batman, etc.

Attached: bestseller.jpg (1001x636, 63K)

Doesn't this include China?

Yes

Included China last week but not this week

But remember Captain Marvel has nothing to prove at the box office...according to 'journalists'...GTFO MCU cunts.

This is confusing

No it includes this week it's just that the table hasn't been updated. If you want just add up the table here boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=alita.htm
and you will see they don't add up to 222mil

Yeah it's fucked. Kinda surprised/not surprised that how to train your dragon and green book made this take 3rd place in China within the second week. Unfortunate timing here in the U.S and abroad.

I'm worried that Alita will belong to Disney by that point and we'll get the Rey version of Alita.

Cameron owns the rights. They'll only serve as a distributor. Would hate to see him take it to the Chinese but it's an option.

A loose loose scenario desu, I'm glad we got Alita though

Why the fuck are chinks watching Green Book?

Not even close, sadly. Break-even point was $500 million WW.

I just added up everything on the table because I'm a massive fucking loser. I rounded up a few times, like turning a 1.8mil to 2 to save time and it came to 180. So China's second weekend has been added

I understand that Alita is his waifu, but he is Jim Cameron, explorer of the sea, he will start diving and not care about Alita
Sometimes you have to let go to save yourself from anticipation disappointment

no

Attached: 20190220_091529.jpg (1080x1655, 564K)

He didn't even care enough to make the movie himself

I think the film turned out better because Rodriguez directed and edited the script with input and base script from Cameron
Alita is something really special

The 500 is bonkers and fake
The 350 is reality
Considering the bad marketing, production hell, new tech (that won't need to be created again) and how the word of mouth works (I have not seen one who watched the film and didn't like it or love it) it's safe to say that Alita is a huge success

>it's safe to say that Alita is a huge success
I don't think I've ever seen Yea Forums this delusional before

Attached: 1494147579956.png (584x347, 234K)

>The 500 is bonkers and fake
>The 350 is reality

Tell that to the 'critics' and 'journalists' and haters. Funny cause when Ghostbusters2016 failed it didnt matter.

It needs 350 million per Fox and it'ĺl either be there or very close by the end of the weekend. The idiotic 550-650 million numbers come purely from rival studios and news outlets owned by rival studios.

An oscar win equals "worth" to the chink insectoid nervous system, therefore they swarm out to see it

Yeah you just have to double the production. I mean The Mummy made over 3x it's production. It's why it started a cinematic universe with all those sequels, because it was such a big hit. Or Justice League, that did 50mil more than double it's production. It didn't lose upwards of 80 million dollars. And who could forget the smash hit Warcraft? That made over 100mil more than double it's production. That sequels coming. Yep. Any day now

literally zero chance of a sequel. it would cost the same-ish and earn considerably less

He is busy with Avatar multi sequel and he's old. It was either letting someone else do it or never see it happen.

just like aliens trying to figure out earth culture you know. American movies are popular around the world so let's watch the one they say is their best and see what it's like

Or they just still think Oscars mean something. Is the gay sex scene censored or not in China.

And honestly this may be a blessing in disguise
With everything going on the sequel could easily destroy everything good about Alita
I could never believe before that a film like Alita could be made today
For that I'm already extremely happy

Kinda sad but it makes me irrationally angry that we may not get sequel. Just doesn't sit right with me how this movie was sent to die from a studio and a critical standpoint (some reviews are plain fucking retarded or straight up malicious)

HAHA I just figured out the movie was produced by Alibaba, the chinese equivalent of Amazon. Now you know it has nothing to do with its artistic value and the chinks probably shelled a lot of money for that Oscar

Hw about Cameron making a sequel after the Avatars?

It wasn't sent to die. It had three weeks with it's only competition being children's movies. That was more than enough time it's that people didn't care. Something like Hellboy being sandwiched between Shazam and Endgame, now that's being sent out to die.

Implying I will be alive by then and Cameron won't be a cyborg like Zapan with underwater deep sea diving breathing apparatus permanently attached

>Hellboy being sandwiched between Shazam and Endgam

oh boy, Id watch hellboy over cape but crikey thats terrible timing.

Damn this shit flopped. Did it even have any marketing? Was an alright movie desu, better than most sci-fi action movies I've seen in the past 5 years

Hellboy looks nice but I spent all my money on Alita

If it was between, How to train your dragon and Alita, I'm sure a bunch of people especially those in China would go ahead and pick the former if they just wanted to watch a movie. It's a kids movie but it's popular as fuck. The fact how to train your dragon exists as an option means it could potentially eat into Alita's profit. If a movie like wandering Earth could be the undisputed king over there for so long is a testament to the fact it had no competition because no one wanted/could release a movie after Chinese New year. Green book gaining momentum is definitely a WTF

By the end of this weekend it should reach 300 million. But dont think that will be enough for a sequel. They really needed to do a better job with the marketing, even if this film does have amazing word of mouth so far.

as a looong time alita fan, since, it late 90's

fuck fuck fuck, this movie delivered.

Considering the complexity and depth of the source material, they did so well to get it all in, even with a few tweaks, and the set the ground work for sequels.

there is a massive amount of story here yet to be told.

the author is great ecepting a few bits in las order where it get stupid (his comedy sometimes does not work)

and the altest suff in the mars chnoicles, is wierd the whole spoiler thing about alita ....man Im not srue about that.

But I can see why the sjw are killing themselves about this movie.

Female cyborg, is tough and chiose to take a mans body an revert back to her gender, subconcious truth.

She is massively tough, but calls ido, who is not her father, father.

Normal hetro love interest

until robot lurve, but gender remians intact even then

show how replaceable sjw, bio cunts will be in the future.

Main female is evil, and get her evil, only slight redemption.

main male is generally good and admits flaws

this show how it can all be ok cis normative and fuck you the whole western Disney etc etc system of depravity.

spoilers...
in the end ido is outgrown by alita, and nove is not the enemy and ukillable anyway, the best you can do is for nova and get more nova's.

>when you spend more on advertising that you do making the movie

probably 370 million is the break-even for this CGI cartoon

sounds retarded

Sadly, that doesn't work just for chinks but for the whole general public. Most of people unironically think that Oscars are still relevant.

Well he is out of ideas after finishing his copypasted Pocahontas

i hope not
fuck hollywood jews with their terrible anime/manga adaptations

No need to screenshot something that obvious and plain as day, user. Cult status achieved.

>money is not a big that stopped Jim to do what he loves.
Interesting when he needs a decade to work on his beloved Avatar sequel.

Based Jim will finance a sequel for his waifu himself

Sorry i mean ido wife not alita

>reddit spacing

>Based Jim will finance a sequel for his waifu himself
Dont get my hopes up like that.

But the normies (chads/Stacies)are eating this shit up, it's the left leaning redditors, Disney cock suckers on RT and trannies like you who have been trying to tear it down.

Based China will save it like usual.

alita - flopped CGI

They expected it to bomb like GiTS, and so had written it off as a failure from the start. The critics were proven wrong based on what the average filmgoers felt after watching Alita. Rather than admit they’re wrong, they doubled down on their stance. Disney’s clout just makes their choice even easier

Same.
I would never have even heard of it if not for Yea Forums.
I don't understand how it apparently needs half a billion just to break even when seemingly none of that was spent on marketing.

and it is a failure
things that make no profit, and on top of that, lose money, are failures

Maybe they should have had her say she noticed there were too many real people interviewing and she wanted more virtual seats at the table. She doesn’t hate real people just not CGI ones.

Tried watching the torrent. Total garbage.

it got killed in japan

-50 million dollars in the profit column so far

movie is a total flop
with a 200m budget you need to make at least 2-3 times that to break even which is 400-600 million

I’m just pissed a man’s love letter to his waifu will be overshadowed by Captain Fungus. Fucking Chinamen have better taste than these burgers.

They couldn't even save Alita. Movie is literally running third after How to Train Your Dragon and Green Book. They ain't loyal. Warcraft made over 400 million and that still didn't get a sequel.

>One shekel has been deposited into your Captain marvel defence force cunt account.

>the best you can do is for nova and get more nova's.
What?

Nova dies and gets several iterations of himself reincarnated in Last Order which was shit btw

This is an excellent adaptation though.

no
the only way to get a sequel is if Cameron pushes for it.

I'll let you know as soon as YIFI is out

it's over 310M at this point. 500M should be the targhet for a sequel. It depends if it falls of after this weekend in China. It it keeps going strong one more week it should get to 500M.

lol it's not getting to 500, 430 max

>unironically waiting for Avashit sequels
It will be the biggest flop in the history

It needs 6 gorillion goy. Stop worring about that. Get some hot presales tickets for Capeshit Marvel instead. Don't worry the reviews, they will be great.

Praise the Fungus

Any fan Art of Alita dabbing on Captain Marvel ?

Why would there be? Even Alita is a better movie CM will destroy it financially and will absolutely get a sequel. Alita already lost.

Why is this a question? Did the Wizard of Oz get a sequel? Fuck you zoomer.

It's just depressing that despite the fact that everyone knows and accepts that CM will be shit, it's already a given and basically confirmed it will make a fuckton and beat Alita. Doesn't matter how good it is, the Marvel Paypiggies will fund endless sequels and will be hooked into seeing another turd because of a tiny post credit scene for muh avengers. MCU paypigs are fucking disgusting.

>Did the Wizard of Oz get a sequel?
Return to Oz was even better than the original.

If it makes you feel any better, Infinity War was the last Marvel movie I will see in theaters.

I makes me feel like you should be gassed as punishment for being an MCU paypig for 10 fucking years.

>Best picture of Princess Peach in all of the internets

At least I didn't go see any DC shit after Man of Steel.

This sin will be with me to death.

Shame I didnt screencap my prediction from january:

>Alita fans will love the movie
>It will be the 1st good manga-movie adaptation
>It wont be a success
>There won't be a sequel

>There won't be a sequel
Can that kind of talk right now you sonnova bitch.

Attached: Cogburn.jpg (1920x1080, 847K)

>There won't be a sequel
I will hope.

First off, she's not a robot. She's a cyborg. Alita is a human brain in a mobile life support system that doubles as a weapon of war (the Berserker body). Secondly, 25% of the necessary caloric intake goes to powering the brain.

Rob them back all the money you gave them to make it even. Pirate all their films and seed them too infinite so that others do not pay for them. Make up for your crimes.

Too much effort, I'll just ignore Disney from now on.

Cameron will be 99 years old after Avatar 5.

"Sent to die" means "sent out with no marketing". I have literally never seen an ad of any sort for Alita. The only thing they did was put a trailer on the internet, which is nothing.

>Get Sequel
>It'll be Pacific Rim 2 tier
Better just enjoy what we get, user

Boyega as Figure Four hopefully never

don't even joke about that

20 minutes in. It's so boring.

>Pandora
>kino
Pick one

how can I enjoy what we got when what we got was so mediocre

I will admit the opening is really expositional, and the pacing is off, way to fast. But 20 minutes is actually where I started to enjoy it. That's where it gets good.

Attached: 1551396220417.png (745x1073, 415K)

This. Incels BTFO.

>I know it's a big budget Cameron film but now she's the underdog in my mind.

Because you're a fucking retard.

I only know the movie from the commercials and the trailers didn't make it look very good. They made it like the hero is the best, unbeatable fighter there is. It looked like it was gonna be two hours of 'wow Alita sure is awesome despite not believing in herself, right'. Not saying that's what the movie's actually like because I didn't see it but the ads just looked boring, plus really good CGI just isn't a selling point for a movie anymore

>They made it like the hero is the best, unbeatable fighter there is.

And she is after the first hour.

What a blast from the past...you make me sad

Attached: 1551214568979.jpg (745x1073, 94K)

She literally gets both of her legs, and both of her hands cut off halfway through the film and has to be carried to safety by her father figure as a torso with a head after losing a fight.

FLOP

HOLY SHIT that is all it made? This only made 100 million more than Ghost in the Shell which I enjoyed

not sure what you mean?
he always takes his time
if he was money hungry, he would've pumped sequels lightning fast while Avatar was hot
He went deep diving instead, not exactly as profitable

>doubting based Jim
His levels of kino and box office numbers are outrageous. He’s unironically a genius.

>plus really good CGI just isn't a selling point for a movie anymore
I didn't know that bad CGI was the new selling point.

They released a straight-to-video sequel to Pocahontas, you could just watch that.

Pacific Rim, maybe. Certainly not Justice League shilling.

Unfortunately not. It wasn't considered a box office success because of the amount they spent on marketing and distribution alongside production budget, however from the way it ended it seems like we're getting another film, sometime in the future.

>please, let her live

Attached: 1550908975625.jpg (233x271, 9K)

>Princess Peach

Attached: 1548907744265.gif (480x480, 2.56M)

It gets released worldwide weeks later dumbass, it was just released in China last week, and we won't have any numbers except the weekend.

Same for Japan

Same for every other market

people are going to be so disappointed by the Umbrella Academy comic. the TV-show gets rid of so many campy comic book tropes and over the top scenes. Especially The Conductor and the Vietnam time travel.

Wasn't it around 170 million?

Don't forget the robot dog hunter

This film should never have been released in America they don't fucking deserve it.

Don't forget Robert Rodriguiz was specifically bought to direct the film since he has a knack of not spending too much on budget. So yeah the 500 million sounds completely bs.

But JC owns the film rights and he wouldnt let his baby get destroyed, so a possible sequel would turn out alright.

Its doing pretty good for western adaptation of anime/manga so far, gotta remember most were shit until this point, so its pretty understandable japs have been hesistent on watching the film.

>July 2018
youtu.be/6ySZt5TFo9E?t=1255
>hopefully if this film makes money we'll go on and will continue the story
Jim no
I hope he's isn't really saying that, and he'll fund the sequels regardless of how much money it makes

Attached: 1537255388762.jpg (613x587, 11K)

Imagine if he said, "we'll make sequels no matter how much the movie makes" - why would anyone even bother?

...good point, actually.

Problem is that those are foreign markets, and the studio doesn’t receive even half of the profits.

Has Yea Forums been inspired by Alita today? /ourgirl/ healed us all.

no

get out rebbit

At least now that they've got the main designs and setpieces down, future movies should be a lot cheaper (and faster) to make - since it's clear a lot of time and money went into needing to experiment and change a lot of stuff initially (like differences in visuals from the trailer vs. the finished movie).

>if I call him rebbit he'll conform to my shitty taste

lel

>the X days until Avatar 2 poster died

I never engaged in those threads but found their existence in the catalog each day pretty comfy.

Based women don't exi-

This.
Avatar was OK for its time but it's almost 12 years old everyone has moved on nobody will give a absolute fuck about the sequels 15 years after avatar 1

Impossible, he lives on inside us all eternally.

Attached: 1532501691244.png (249x249, 86K)

This is exactly why Avatar 2 will making buckets. Everyone is so used to generic shitty comic book movies, nothing but capeshit for 15 years by the time Avatar 2 comes out, Star Wars will be dead (already is desu), and in comes Avatar, something with a fresh gimmick that people will go to see even just out of curiousity and a change from yet another capeshit or Star Wars sequel.

Only bit I didn't like was the ending it's like they cut the final act and 30 minutes off the runtime.
I how there is a directors cut extended r rated edition
I'd rather have more oddball James kino like alita true lies and Camerons avatar movies suck he's wasted 15 years on them.

I dont think thats a "problem". The only problem I see is adapting something made for a different culture and somehow making it look and feel western. Which doesnt seem to of worked because everyone I know reacts with confusion to the concept.

Avatar sucked though. I get why he didn't rush to make another one.

>shit how can I fix this garbage, casting Sam Worthington was a terrible mistake
>I'll just wait like 10 years until he's irrelevant and start over

Why Yea Forums has a masters in economics and film yet movies that didnt make four times their budget (the Yea Forums approved standard of how much you NEED to even make 0.01$ profit) got sequels?

Alita isn't very Jap-oriented, tho - it's a much more universal story and that's one of the reasons why Cameron liked it and chose to adapt it in the first place.

seethe more normo

Exactly this. The trailers didnt sell it well for people who arent familiar with source material. It felt kike there were no stakes, and that it would be 2 hours of Alita CGI stomping faceless enemies. Boring as fuck.

>Titanic
>Avatar
>calling anyone "normo"

lol

Holy shit that chick is based.

>bullied guy gets up and shakes her hand at the end

Kek.

On my way to the kinoplex, what am I in for?

is this how you cope? LOL thats how much it made over 3 weeks

To be honest this is true. The trailers honestly didn't make me interested in this film at all. I only watched them because I'd seen the anime eyes girl posted on here and wanted to see her in motion. The trailer looked like typical schlock. I only ended up seeing it because of word of mouth and because once I heard it was good, I wanted to support something that was going against capeshit and that Disney was seething over. While I didn't find the film to be absolutely amazing, I did like it.

Whats the context behind this? somebody give me the quick rundown.

80% boring garbage, awful writing, most of the cast being shit, a start-and-stop plot, and 20% great visuals, action scenes, world design, and Rosa Salazar is a cute

>pic related
is probably the worst actor I've ever seen in a movie this big

What happened to the 700 gorillion in China alone?
Did the guy spewing that meme finally shut the fuck up?

What the fuck is a HDTC and is it watcheable quality-wise

Had the same experience as your post, only I did end up finding the movie to be absolutely amazing.

It's basically 1 weekend into asia release, china is coming in on 2nd week. we're not even close to the end of the run.

you can spot when they ran out of budget at hugo´s dismiss.

if i were j cameron and r rodriguez i would dish out that scene it cheapen the whole movie.

>get Alita sequel
>but it's made by Boyega's production company
>Boyega stars as new love interest

Unwatchable.
Now that I think about it, I should probably thank the people behind making this release so godawful - if it wasn't, less people would've gone to see the movie.

I heard the world building was very good, and it is, but I was going in expecting something really intellectual like the Star Wars prequels with Sheev tier manipulations and DENSE cinematography. And while some parts could be said to be quite dense, Rodriguez never used as many wide angle, slow shots that Lucas did allowing you to soak up the world and atmosphere. But what I did see of Iron city I liked, it's like a more anime version of Dues Ex Human Revolution, or like Ghost in the Shell but even further into the future.

But it's also a bit of a turn our brain off film, and is one of those self insert power level creep battle films where you just get a emotional high of seeing justice served and seeing the self insert/waifu you like kick ass, with the rest of the world just being a backdrop setting. I liked it, it was a fun film. Just expected something different.

>story about an underdog fighting against a rigged system and somehow coming out on top
>ends up being the underdog film, fighting a rigged system, that eventually will come out on top

I am astounded that this scene was in the trailer when it's literally the final shot of the film.

The trailers showed way too much shit, almost nothing was a surprise.

To be fair out of context nobody who hasn't read the manga or anything like that will know it is. Out of context it's just a robot girl with a sword.

that's just a normal day in slav land, no context needed

I need a pic of alita fighting to make a meme. I already have the other 2 pics I need.

It has a message about the public rebelling against freemasons and jews, which is a big no no, the movie must be stopped at all costs as it's against the agenda.

How does it feel like to shill for the same dishonest people in the bought and paid for media?

I sincerely hope you're right.

Serious question: why do you call CG fests movies. They are cartoons. There is barely any real people in Alita, even the main character is not real.

Alita CG has 10x the range of CM’s Brie Larson though. So what is real and what is not?

How come Alita shills and newfags from /alita general/ always compare their shit movie to another shit movie (Captain Marvel)?

Why do you say they are newfags?

>quarter of a billion dollars is a failure to business analysts and other suits

We are truly in the late stages of capitalism

>Opening weekend audiences consisted of 60% male and 40% female, with demographics including 44% Caucasian, 21% Hispanic, 15% Asian American and 14% African American.
>movie about an asian story with a girl main is most popular with white guys
why

it's clear as a day to anyone who has been on this site for at least 10 years
some retard didn't even know how to link posts and reply properly last time I checked that containment thread

stfu faggot

Actual retard

Is it possible that exponential growth just becomes unsustainable at some point?

>Some are newfags.
Like all other Yea Forums threads. I don’t get your point.

>Disney shill's instructions tell him that "newfag" is a dirty word on Yea Forums, so he uses it in hopes it'll gain him cred in a hostile thread
There's only one problem: If you call too many oldfags "newfag" then it exposes you for the faggot tourist you are.

Attached: 1336706992643.jpg (345x466, 62K)

>Disney shill's
Here's that argument again, that's how you spot cancerous faggot from /abag/. You were cancer back then, you're cancer ruining this board now. Drink bleach.
fuck disney, fuck marvel, fuck captain marvel and most importantly fuck Alita

I hope so. Saw the movie today and I really liked it. Interesting characters and a great setting, amazing special effects.

Though I haven't seen the original material, the ending was a bit weird, as it made it seem like Alita could just jump up to the city and kill Nova if she wanted but instead she just keeps playing motorball so she'll inevitably get there that way (?).

>americans unironically and actually racially profile people going to movies

Attached: 1488265687937.png (318x300, 42K)

>not looking up your local cinema's racial statistics
it's like you want your movie to be ruined by black people

You don't know anything about business, dude. Do you know what profit margin percentage the vast majority of businesses consider decent? 5%. Do you know what they consider exceptional? 10%, which is industry average. They're ecstatic to get 10% return. Anything more is simply a shower of blessings. It does vary between industries, but 70% is a ludicrous number even by Hollywood standards and we all know you pulled that number out your ass.

Read a book nigger.

What do you think caused the 2008 recesion?

Unstable growth in the housing market by people who didn't give a single shit if homeowners could actually afford the loans they were being given?

Anyone else watch this in 4D?

Wtf was with that smell they kept spraying you with during the alcohol scenes? It was almost kind of comical.

>This takes into account only the USA and all other markets for the PAST WEEK.
No you retard, it's what it has earned in total so far.

wat
this exists?

Attached: 1522169588219.jpg (720x719, 41K)

>Did Alita make enough money to get a sequel?
No, let's break it down:

Production budget: $170 million
Promotional budget: $40-60 million at the very least

So cost is ~$220 million

Domestic box office (where Fox get ~50% of the box office take): $65 million
Foreign box office (where Fox get ~35-40% of the box office take, except for China which only returns 25%): ~$222 million

So Fox's take of the domestic gross = $32.5 million + foreign gross = ~$80 million = $112 million.

So having earned ~$112 million at the box office, at a cost of ~$220 million, it is still VERY much in the red after two weeks in release and having opened in China and Japan.

Eventually with bluray/streaming etc the loss will be made much smaller, perhaps even breaking even, but that's not enough for a sequel.
