old movie. The witch seems to have total control over the forest so I think the Winchesters need protective hexbags so they don't get messed up psychologically or otherwise, and they probably should set up anti-magic wards as soon as they enter the forest to further dispel any magic that could disorient them. This way, they will force the witch to show herself and by then a well-placed witch killing bullet should do the trick. The problem is it will take too much time and effort to sweep the entire forest if they didn't know about the cabin. Still, I think that would be the safest and most effective way to sweep the area and flush the witch out

Yeah the show lost it's grit as it went on. The whole "sacrificing everything for family" was also degraded when it was shown anyone can come back from heaven or hell and sam and dean go back in time to visit their parents every other week.
It was losing its grounding by season 5 but man did the show become a cartoon after that. I miss the lean and mean first seasons that tried to take themselves and the threats seriously.

Demons weren't the only things relegated to Putty Warrior status. By season 5 anything that wasn't an Angel, a pagan God, or lucifer just wasnt a threat anymore (even though Sam and Dean hasn't exactly escalates in power themselves besides Sam's demon blood thing), and it had already been established that death is meaningless and the melancholy from the loss of their mom and dad was negated by the time travel episodes. Monsters and demons only felt threatening and terrifying in the first 3 seasons, and it had nothing to do with the brothers giving up on trying to save possessed people. After that it became the Angel soap opera show and nothing feels scary no matter how much exposition they throw out about how this seasons big bad is totally a super serial threat.
Hard to be scared for them fighting a wendigo when we know they'll just be resurrected anyways.
