As an old dude who was around for Madonna's prime, I agree with you. Gaga is a better singer and actress. Without a doubt, Gaga mimicked Madonna early on. As far as songwriting goes, it's very close. They both have hooks big enough to catch Jaws, but I prefer Gaga's songs.
I just wish she hit us with another dance album like the first two. I know she can still do it because the "generic" pop song from A Star is Born may be my favorite from the soundtrack even though it is just about lust.
