Tommorow I'm going to watch her movie again, I don't have a lot of money but I want to help Alita fight with the Mouse.

is this our generations bladerunner gosling?

Alita felt shallow as a film. They hamfisted in elements and lines from the manga but there was no continuity or interesting but subtle exposition. It looks good for a film and I'm glad the violence isn't toned down for the film.
But as a script its poor. This is the problem with the marvel age of film making. Films are made up of big set pieces meant to be used in trailers that are stitched together with awful and poorly written downtime links between them solely so that the audience don't get too jarred between set pieces.
Sci fi films no longer feel like just good premised films with enough realism that you can immerse yourself within the world. For instance people acting realistically to the world around them. None of that happens anymore.
For alita it felt just shallow. A rollercoaster theme park ride meant to carry you between fight scenes which have none to very little purpose. Villains no one cares about and without an ending to even speak of. Just a promise of a sequel I guess.
I'm so disappointed with marvel age film making. Everyone is just another joss whedon, hacking away at anything good or imaginative.
There's nothing that is immersive or interesting to watch, with characters you can care about.
Its all so tiresome.

>felt shallow as a film
My first thoughts exactly, but I watched it again because I had a nagging feeling I was missing something. It's by no means perfect, but it's actually a lot less shallow than it initially looks. There's a lot of stuff that is easy to miss first time around; every line of dialogue has a lot of significance. Is it a good adaptation of the manga? Not at all. But it is a great film that I really enjoyed for what it is. Once you step away from the manga and view it with an open mind they actually did really well for most of it.

Idk I really bought into it. Even the YA romance. All the character interactions with Alita and her responses were really endearing for me. Movie gets better when every viewing for me

Going again Friday, taking a friend.

>Is it a good adaptation of the manga? Not at all.
huh? everyone says the opposite. They say it's the first true-to-source adaptation ever

It is true to source to a point, but it is more faithful to the OVA than the manga. There are new characters like Chiren, they replace Makaku with Grewishka, change the order of the plot etc. As far as anime adaptations go it's fantastic in terms of adapting the source but it's more of a reinterpretation I think than an attempt to accurately recreate it (which isn't a bad thing). If you go in expecting it to be just like the manga as I did on first viewing you will probably be disappointed. If they wanted to make it a true-to-source adaptation then it would not be a PG for example. Also they made a lot of changes that seem nonsensical, as they could have just followed the manga but chose not to for whatever reason.

That being said, I still personally think it's an 8/10 at least and well worth watching. The changes they made actually make sense on the whole once you step outside of "the manga did it better" mindset which I was in.

I've watched it a few time now and I don't agree. There's so much wrong with the film. The way in which she discovers her body is so far fetched its ridiculous. The sub plot of the boy jacking parts was poorly played off. The speech in the hunter warrior den was bad. The fight just so she could show off.
There's nothing endearing about the actress either. Alita in the comics is a spunky 90s manga girl. Here she is doe eyed and unsure of herself at every turn. There's nothing about her that I find endearing as a character.
Although that's more often down to poor script if the characters are not given time or the situations to really shine as individuals.
I just felt drained. In the current joss whedon age of throw away junk food style movies its not that bad. It reminds me of a worse speed racer.
But overall as a film in its own right its shallow and has tons of lost potential.

I felt the for the most part was an improvement over the manga and ova. Take for example Ido, his motives and relationship to Alita in contrast to how creepy he acted in the manga. Got some Astroboy vibes here

>tfw have lots of money but too lazy to go see Alita in the cinema

Sorry girl, I'm sure you'll do just fine even without me..

I think a lot of this including the cheese was intentional. I think it's fitting that a teenage girl, angst and all who was literally born yesterday to fall in love with the first boy, also happens to be someone to give corny bar speeches from an ideologist perspective. Displaying her naivity in willing to do anything for Hugo to her transformation into a woman and being jaded at the end. It got me and I'm sure this movie would fall apart without this character. Hugo was some dude who did bad things and just like a lot if us who falls in love with her, the same goes for him by the end hence him thanking her for saving him

>discovers her body is far fetched
I didn't like this at first but I actually do now, it's very video gamey but that's why I like it; it taps into my nostalgia and creates the feeling of being a kid again. It's the old "finding the magic armour in the dungeon" trope but in a cyberpunk context which is really cool

>sub plot of the jacking parts was poorly played off
Could have been done better I agree but it really wasn't that bad

>speech was bad
That's the point

>fight just so she could show off
She's an overconfident teenager who feels invincible, the fight against Grewishka quickly snaps her back to reality

>nothing endearing about the actress
Objectively wrong, film Alita is way cuter than manga Alita, the acting is phenomenal and she is one of the most believable characters I have seen in a long time

>she is unsure of herself at every turn
Name literally one moment

It's a once life time experience. Motorball worth the price of admission alone

Its slimy shill speak.

Its just about 100% true to the OVA, with added bits. Then it includes some cribbed lines and sequences from the manga. So if you act like the OVA is the source material, it is true to source. The problem is the OVA was garbage.

The changes from the manga are all about tying everything together into a much smaller package. The problem is it does all this with hollywood cliche. Dead kids, hearts of gold, mustache twirlers, etc. It sabotages the characterization of nova and ido, makes nova alita's target for over 300 years, makes nova over 300 years as well, drops the salem baby factory, controlled reproduction, and brain replacement, makes basically every manga plotline either unworkable or reliant upon more bullshit hollywood cliche to force ahead.

Whats most confusing is how the movie's actual plotlines and character arcts are identical to the OVA's. But the OVA covered all of them in 60 minutes. This should have given the movie some breathing room, but, instead, they jammed in as much as they possibly could and ended up with something simultaneously boring and rushed. For instance, they kept the "is ido a murderer" subplot, but run through it, start to finish, in about three minutes, without even the bit where she ends up with a murdered prostitutes arms. Because the first body she was given was made for ido's OC daughter.

Alita will belong to the mouse soon.

>They hamfisted in elements and lines from the manga
Thank god I didn't read the manga nor watched the OVA, I usually hate adaptations of comic books I like because I'm autistic about every detail.
It was a fucking good movie to me, worth watching for the SFX in itself, but I also liked Salazar's performance beyond expectations.

Nope, she belongs to Cameron.

>Let's make the 1000 pictures Alita thread.
>newfag shills don't know about thread image limits yet
yikes

This film could have been spliced in 2 or 3 movies. But because of the normies they have to make it one movie otherwise they will complain about the slow pace and lack of action. If anyone blame normies, even after formatting the movie for them, they're still shunning because they don't know what it is, it's scary. They prefer big names like Star Wars or Captain Americuck. Things they know.

Nope, she belongs to me, forever

To be honest the brain chip plot and Nova being a lunatic isn't the greatest thing ever that you manga people make it out to be. I'm sure Cameron can make things right more so than Kishiro did to the story in the shonan bullshit that turned out to be last order

I'll blame whomever thought it would be a good idea to make a movie with more sequel hooks than actual movie, thanks.

Whatever your disingenuous opinions are, the point is anime/manga is popular because it is not standard hollywood bullshit. Thus why all anime adaptations fail. They can't help themselves from loading the material down with standard hollywood bullshit.

Why is Alita so perfect, Bros?

Except general reaction from fans and audience says this movie is good and there's an overwhelming want for a sequel

The flop is already in, friend.

>fans and audience says this movie is good
General masses are extremely easy to manipulate and brainwash unless there's too much forced idelogies coexisting at once.

>live action Alita
>"cute"
Could you be anymore fucking wrong with your shit observation?

How many robot dicks can she take at one?

Hell yes. I'm seeing it again this weekend. Also, requesting a shoop of Alita raising the Damascus Blade toward a Zalem that's been replaced with Disney's Magic Kingdom.

>Thought he meant literal 1,000 pics.
