Why is Spike Lee a one trick pony hack director?

>Spike Lee's version was 140 minutes long, but the producers heavily re-edited the film to 105 minutes[25][26] (re-edits by producers also included the "one-shot hammer" scene[27]); Lee and Josh Brolin were unhappy with it.[26] Lee even removed his trademark "A Spike Lee Joint" credit for a more impersonal "A Spike Lee Film" during the editing process.[26] Brolin has also said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he prefers Lee's version of the film, though it is not clear if this cut will ever be released.
And yet even with this it's far better than the plebby entry level trash korean version

>pasta opinion
Kys

This. I'm not stirring up shit but it's better. Simple. This and inside man are the only Lee films worth watching

la criatura de la televisión

>any of Spikes movies are worth watching

I've always been amazed by how transparently terrible this movie poster looks. If I just saw this thing without ever having heard of the movie I'd assume it was some kind of indie comedy.

Spike Lee had a trick at one point? I thought he was like the edgy inverse of Tyler Perry.

Garbage director making a garbage film. What a surprise.

Well they stole the idea for the poster which was better than this and made it a hack job.

It perfectly sums up how the movie went down.

lee oldboy is one of the most hack remakes of all time

Yeah, I forget what the original concept poster looked like exactly but it was miles ahead of this trash. The fact that the studio never paid the guy is just another reason to dislike this film. As if we needed another.

Lee's Oldboy is one of his worst films, and it's still better than the Korean version, which is trash.

I was disappointed with the the twist ending was retained + Olsen twins sister was cast instead of say a JAV model in her place.

This.

It's an opinion, that's all. Or maybe I'm ignorant and prefer English

Lee and Perry hate each other.

>We got a black president and we going back to Mantan Moreland and Sleep 'n' Eat?

You're a fucking retard

Fuck you, you fucking chink

So are you if you think the Korean version is good

Lee's oldboy is legitimately boring and retarded when there's no reason for it to be. He has no idea how to do an exciting style or pacing - also why miracle at st, anna and inside man sucked.

>Lee even removed his trademark "A Spike Lee Joint" credit for a more impersonal "A Spike Lee Film"
Powerful...

Its an ok movie really without a point its just a series of events and its hard to stay interested.

>Lee even removed his trademark "A Spike Lee Joint" credit for a more impersonal "A Spike Lee Film" during the editing process
lol cringe

>Spike Lee gets mad when capeshit loses to an actual film

Oldboy 2003 isn't perfect but this is such a weird opinion to have. Can one of the people ITT who hate the original so much explain why exactly?

it's mean spirited

So? Why shouldn't a movie about revenge be mean-spirited?

I'm also curious. I don't get it.

They're söygoys who love niggers and hate asians.

He doesn't care about how "good" the movie is, just that it advances niggers somehow. That's been his whole career, he had one decent flick his entire career and has been riding off being an angry nigger ever since. Mo Better Blues got him in trouble with the Hollywood jews and he put out Jungle Fever to placate them and was able to shit out Malcolm X thanks to Denzel Washington being a good actor but then just pissed away the rest of the 90s with crappy movies. The dude is a mediocre director stumbling along due to token nigger status. Just the way it is.

His best movie is Bamboozled, and by best I also mean funniest (unintentionally)

why was soulbrothanumbah3 shilling for this when it came out so hard?

Paul Mooney. There's usually one actor carrying any one of Spike Lee's "joints". From Danny fucking goddamn Aiello to Denzel Washington, you can point to one actor in any movie Spike Lee has shat out that saved it from garbage status.

I watched the original, it was neat, probably even has a longer hallway fight but the remake is pretty much beat for beat with a few different things here and there. It's just good. Joe's imprisonment was good too. But you're still not happy with the answer?

>It's a shitty US remake of a korean adaptation of a japanese mango
we need to go derper

And I like Elizabeth's tits vs Korean tits

moron

The source material is honestly one of the worst mangas I've ever read, Spike Lee's version is almost a better story

not only do I like Lee's Oldboy, I also think its better than the original and his best film

Cocksucker

Inside Man is good

I watched this recently expecting it to just be a mediocre remake, but it was spectacularly fucking stupid. Felt like a parody at times.

His best film imo is Chi-Raq

Yeah I like pretty much all of his work except the Miracle one. Im not American though, I think that if I were American I would either like even more or hate his films, I dont get all of the race and political stuff but he's funny and charismatic

I was very drunk while watching it, but I remember liking it. should I watch the Korean one?
