Reminder to the lurkers. Yea Forums DOES NOT like this pleb trash the cycle is never wrong >plebs come to Yea Forums to talk about it and spew their optimistic and positive opinions about it >the patrician regular posters either wait for for the rip or are in the minority >the plebs leave because they have other boards to shitpost on >all that's left are the regular Yea Forums posters >they usually hate it since movies like this tend to be shit
Copying my post from last thread here for more discussion:
(You) Speaking of streaming services and the home release, I wanted to add that I cannot wait for it to drop finally on Netflix/Prime/Hulu/whatever. Not because I wanna see it again (I'm getting the BD of course), but because I feel this movie will be vindicated then. Your average viewer will likely check it out at some point, in the comfort of their own home at their own pace and realize how good this movie actually was.
I'm hoping that will generate legitimate hype for the sequel. And at that point, it falls squarely on Cameron and his team to not fuck up and go above and beyond this movie. Should he do that, this series place will be cemented for sure.
Would anything bad happen if you came inside of her?
Landon Edwards
>put off by trailer >fall for Yea Forums shilling and decide to see the movie >it's really good, went again anyone else had this experience? It seems to be pretty common
Matthew Bell
I'm almost proud of you for managing to post this in EVERY thread. Good job user!
As you said its pretty common. I guarantee some bored user from the UK just took the initial dive, saw it, and then started heartfully shilling it so we may all have our eyes opened and be healed by Alita.
Dominic Perez
Reminder these Alita plebs have constantly proven over and over that the cycle is true and that they're not from here
Chase Johnson
I just went randomly with family with low expectations of an anime adaption. It seems like low expectations played a part for many viewers.
Owen Allen
Zapan scenes were good
Christopher Allen
worked for me
Nathan Gutierrez
It definitely helps with first viewing, considering the fast pace. But once you know what you're getting into and you like it, subsequent viewings generally only improve the movie somehow.
That's a sizable slab of chocolate. kinda makes you wonder if she was constipated after
Liam Robinson
Saw it the second time (out of four) with my mother, she enjoyed it. She also liked the live action Ghost in the Shell movie. Wish I could have taken my father, but he's a wetback with a "relaxed" brain and wouldn't have understood the plot/story or enjoyed it.
Connor Moore
Last time I saw such a long running general on Yea Forums was BR2049, is this comparably good?
Brandon Perry
this and her crazy-face expression after fighting off Grewishka are my favorites. Still waiting on hq webms of her angrily panting after fighting him off.
>Angry anime-loving conservatives (that's a thing!), whose natural habitats are normally Yea Forums, Twitter, and the comment sections of every gaming site on the internet, have now banded together to shit all over Captain Marvel while simultaneously kissing Alita's ass.
>figma japs hated it, why there would be a nendo? a modern scale based on the manga/anime would be great though
Jacob Wood
Someone paid a lot to people to shill this movie. Thank god based critics know what's up and treat it like the rotten, misogynist, problematic garbage it is.
Connor Hernandez
Alita becomes real
Nathan Robinson
Is Japan the only country that managed to fuck up in the box office? I seriously disappointed.
The films popularity is spiking their cost too high for me right now. I'll be waiting for the price to go back down.
Elijah Torres
Both Japan and the US are the only disappointing markets. Everywhere else ranges from good to record breaking.
Christian Johnson

I just had to rewatch BR tonight. More aesthetic, but not as genuine.
Chase Ross
Don't be too surprised. Tonde Saitama aside (whatever the fuck that movie is), its amazing that Alita even got the number 2 spot. It's based on a niche manga in Japan that's been mostly forgotten there since the 90s, and its another Hollywood live action adaptation. It's also battling other movies like Into the Spiderverse, Aquaman, Mary Poppins, and other Japanese movies.
Carter Sanders

I'm just (austistically) trying to prove the obvious point that people from all tastes and walks of life can and do love Alita.
David Reyes
there's probably hundreds of twitter essays on how the movie is 'bad'. Who cares. and I say that as a lefty. I didn't see Alita as some pro-anything vehicle.
Luis Ward
I said this in another thread, but both times I've seen Alita, I just feel better about myself. It's like, I'm a huge loser and the world sucks, but maybe I can be better and maybe the world can be better too.
It's a "powerful female written by a male" and "we need to come together as a nation to stop James Cameron from writing female characters".
Jason Brooks
I browse buyfag thread so I'm familiar with that
Zachary Sanders
>tfw you'll never get your skull caved in by Alita's megaton steel ass.
Robert Miller
"No!" If there's one thing Alita lacks it's exposure. People just don't even know it exists. User rating on RT is evidence as much. Most people who actually show up like it.
Michael Carter
James Cameron would be proud of you. If only he saw all these threads.
Cameron Walker
I know dude, fucking hypocrites. So much for their acceptance movement.
Wyatt Morris
I'm honestly surpised, it seems like just the movie they would review - an SF blockbuster helmed by James Cameron (and Robert Rodriguez). Hell they even did Plinkett reviews on the Titanic and Avatar.
Honestly though, I'm assuming they are saving their next Half in the Bag episode for Captain Marvel
The movie is extremely popular with leftoid gays and super freaks(trannies). The shills were originally saying they hate it yet over and over it's been proven that they're the biggest fans of it. So it's not really a surprise when you see something like that That it's a film for conservatives with actual taste in cinema. Otherwise you're just shilling your own article for your dying site
Because I'm an autistic Yea Forums fanboy, I went searching through RLM's (and their related guests') various social media accounts for any mention of Alita, and the only solid mention I could find was from that fucking canuck Jim, pic related.
Considering making and marketing Alita cost $700 mil and Fox will only take in around $280 mil estimated at the box office it can be safely said Alita is a flop.
Owen Powell
it's doing "ok".
Brayden Reyes
I wish they made a video on it, everytime I'm interested in what they think of a new movie they never make a video on the movie
Eli Anderson
Actually it cost them $1 billion. Only by taking in $2 billion can it be considered even. Not even $5 billion is enough for a sequel. If it's not making half of US GDP it's a flop, basically.
Chase Martinez
He makes a good point All three are terrible flicks loved by retards. Take the old trip deschi for example, if he was here these threads could have some merit to them because even though he had terrible taste he knew things about cinema.
Hunter Hughes
>700 You forgot the costs of developing the bionic prosthetic hands they gave to that girl, that's another 130 million at least right there.
Andrew Flores
Absolutely wrong - he doesn't know because he hasn't even seen Alita. The Wachowskis haven't made any good film since the Matrix, which they obviously dickride. Comparing their schlock to this movie is disingenuous.
if it was common, the poster count in each general wouldn't be diminishing.

My book doesn't have this issue. Although I bought the volumes individually as they were released.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was just mine. I did get the boxset. Several pages are repeated with others mixed in out of order, and that includes two sides of the same page being mismatched numerically, so it's not just like they were bound in wrong.
Jordan Lewis
Ah. Guess I'll just buy the books individually.
Carter Rogers
I think you mean >4-6 people making 40-60 posts each >everyone else posting once or twice
its like you think no one has ever seen a general before.
Hudson Lopez
What the fuck how can something like that even get published?
ITT: doxx shit posting picture of normalfag liking Alita to prove that Alita's fans are "bad"
Listen retard, normalfags are the majority of movie goers. They are the ones that made capeshits movies, which you are shilling for, successful. The very fact that normalfags like Alita means it has popular appeal, the very thing you have been trying to prove against.
>inb4: I hate capeshit too I don't see you running around 10 CM threads fronting your bs about "CM's fan bad." You only attack Alita because you know people here won't put a hammer on you. MCUfags will not be tolerant for this kind of trolling behavior.
Matthew Sanchez
Anyone know where I can buy a copy of the Chinese posters? Or the Chinese war god interpretive posters?
I checked some video reviews and didn't see this problem but I'm still way too scared to actually buy it.
Jordan Smith
Any other issues with that boxset? Is it just the first volume or do the printing errors run throughout all of them? I was thinking about getting the box for a gift, but didn't have any issues with reading through the volumes I had when I got them before there was a boxset collection.
Bentley Cooper
I think pic related is the best reaction face from the entire three manga series.
>still going with this false narrative Boatman owns complete rights to Alita. He can have a sequel made if he wanted to. Neither disney nor fox have any say in that.
Can't happen, as Cameron owns all the rights to any sort of adaptation of Alita. He just uses Fox as the distribution company. Now should Cameron die... then all bets are off.
Adrian Hall
Reminder that Fox does not own the rights :^)
Andrew Fisher
James Cameron owns the rights to Alita himself. He can pick it up and go to any studio.
Lucas Parker
I've only noticed it in volume 1 so far. Based on the other comments, I'm starting to think it's just mine. The only other issue I have is that the box got scratched up during shipping, since it's a heavy item and even avoiding Amazon didn't help me out there.
Yes. I've only seen Alita six times and I saw BR2049 14 times in theaters. Alita edges it out being a bit better so far, IMO. BR2049 is not as explicit. BR2049 relies more on its aesthetics and pace to give the viewer opportunities to think through the questions it raises. Alita is spared from being told that she was created to be subordinate so she has a very different internal journey from K. Her journey is slightly more oriented externally. This. I'm pleasantly surprised because it wasn't apparent to me how many fans of BR2049 were drawn in by the conflict of maintaining personal integrity while exploring the truth of one's nature in a dystopian world that is actively trying to corrupt individuals with tempting lies, willing amnesia, and despair.
Eli Diaz
I want to watch more things with Salazar in it, does anyone know if the Maze Runner movies were any good or not?
I don't really understand this line of criticism because it has an obvious downtrodden workers vs. exploitative capitalists hoarding wealth narrative. If anything, it's probably much more leftist than Captain Neoliberal.
Question: why didnt disney just go with the flow letting Alita help promote captain marvel side by side? There different films.
Year of the wahmans or something. They could easily rig the scores for that.
Landon Perez
Because the deal isn't closed yet.

They don't want other films to affect their magus opus. Alita presents a different kind of woman heroine that Disney wants nothing to do with. They are neo-feminists now.

(1) The two characters that push the plot of Alita are Alita herself and Chiren (Hugo's ex-wife) (2) Alita is pretty much the most powerful person in the plot and BTFOs everyone (3) The main villain is a White MALE living in a sky city (4) Even when she is "defeated" by Grewishka she was still able to pluck out his eye in defiance
>and victims of men Lessee: (a) first body destroyed by Grewishka (b) Chiren is seduced (and BLACKED) by Vector aka literal exploitation (c) Vector has Chiren killed so that he can send her parts to Zalem.
tl;dr you're full of bullshit. I agree that Alita is superior to Captain Marvel in every way (which is why I saw Alita thrice), but Alita is a feminist vehicle, or at least has feminist tones in line with what you are saying. The only it doesn't have is a feminist Mary Sue, which is what Captain Toefungus is - at least Alita is a flawed individual, despite her upgrades. The same applies to Chiren.

How can people complain about that? The 20 volume tournament in Baki was fun.
Liam Thomas
dont worry, its only 100 chapters enjoy the 20-chapter 700 year flashback in the middle of it
This is such bullshit. I have never read the Alita comics or seen the OVA. I went in with a completely fresh mind and set of eyes, and I loved the movie and had no trouble understanding it. Rotten Tomatoes is full of retards who probably think The Last Jedi is not a flaming pile of dog shit.
What do Terry's Chocolate Oranges taste like? I'm on a low carb diet and I am wondering if I should get one for my next cheat day.

I really like them but it's nostalgic for me becuase I had them a lot as a kid. Give it a shot because they're segmented so if you don't like it you can wrap the other segments and give them to a friend or Alita
>(1) The two characters that push the plot of Alita are Alita herself and Chiren (Hugo's ex-wife) Only Alita pushes the plot. Chiren has the same role as other supporting character. I would say Nova pushed the plot as antagonist since he keeps throwing obstacles against Alita through his proxy. >(2) Alita is pretty much the most powerful person in the plot and BTFOs everyone With her body, which she must need Ido to install for her. >(3) The main villain is a White MALE living in a sky city There are other villains too. And the final boss was a black Hindu living in an even higher place. >(4) Even when she is "defeated" by Grewishka she was still able to pluck out his eye in defiance Without others' help, she would have been stomped by the guy.
>(a) first body destroyed by Grewishka It's a fight >(b) Chiren is seduced (and BLACKED) by Vector aka literal exploitation Chiren used Vector to get to Zelem. Both of them are using each other while being control by Nova. >(c) Vector has Chiren killed so that he can send her parts to Zalem. That's Nova's orders. If you notice, he was hesitant and worried when Chiren worked out that door. He did not show malice at all.
Dylan Scott
This movie proved to me that Evangelion Live Action doesn't have to be shit. It will still probably never get made though, and there's about a 50/50 chance that it would be low-budget Netflix trash.
These are Disney shills. Have you ever heard them complaining about not knowing the comics before watching capeshit? The film is practically just like the animated, except it has more stuff and therefore more easy to understand. i never read the manga either. This kind of opinion are 100% dishonest or she really mentally slow
Kevin Brown
you'd like to think so but no
Alexander Martinez
Worst part is that he's considered a 'top critic', what a joke
Jaxson James
I just realized something.
How come Chiren has a brain, and not a chip in the movie?
Julian Turner
Maybe it's not Chiren
Robert Lewis
Didn't it play out that way in the OVA too?
Juan Bailey
It seems like a weird thing to lie about.
Zachary Thompson
I don't know, I didn't see the OVA. but the wiki says Chiren has a chip.
Jason Long
Alita isn't really a woman. She's a 300 years old robot designed for warfare. You might ask why did they design these robots as cute teenage girls.
Sebastian Martinez

Matthew Ward
>Alita isn't really a woman. Her brain is human. She has human genetic information at least in some biological parts remaining of her. Do you even cyberpunk bro

The entire Brain/Chip plot is probably not even in the movies. Unless Victor was just showing Alita a random set of organs that were getting ready to be shipped, and Chiren is actually still alive.

This is why I am quite concerned for the sequel. Gunnm gets pretty fucked up, and I can't really see how they can do it while staying PG13

>Evangelion Live Action Is going to be trash Evangelion works only because there is the series before it You can't rush it Evangelion doesn't have filler At first viewing you think that some episodes are filler but they are not They are essential The complexity and how all of evangelion fits together is something astonishing Anno is (was at least) a genius I hope they leave evangelion alone, it's perfect as it is

I believe they will deviate more in the sequels

Evangelion could use hell of a ton of editing, especially in the second half. It's muddled by its production, don't even front.

The white guy in Zalem looks strangely like James Cameron himself, was it him? I was also suprised to see Jay Courtnay do a 3 seconds cameo. And Gurishika looks like Sam Worthington. That was weird.
Levi Rivera
Edward Norton, not Cameron.
Dylan Green
All white people look the same to me. I thought when Nova took off his glasses that it was supposed to be Dr. Ido double but it turns out it was Edward Norton
Michael Powell
Just came back from it. First half was pretty slow and a little corny, but it picked up a lot by the second half. I was kinda surprised when it ended on a cliffhanger though, for some reason I thought it was going to be a stand-alone film.
Anyway, even though I enjoyed it, I can see why it flopped. I was able to keep up with the story, but that's because I'm not a retard and I'm aware of the level of backstory detail manga usually goes into, which is something your average normie isn't, and so I can see why your average 44 year old soccer mom and her three shit-f0r-brains kids didn't understand what was going on.
I think if it had been marketed a bit differently, perhaps emphasising more the story aspects and less the pure action aspects so that it seemed like more than just "Dumb Sci-Fi Flick #283", then it may have been able to draw bigger crowds. Also the PG-13 rating left it in an odd spot, it felt like it would've been better either going for a regular PG rating or a straight-up R.
Anyway, these are just my two scents. I hope the sequel gets made, even if just to see what villain Ed Norton is doing up on that fuckhueg floating city. Maybe market it to the Chinks, who knows.
Caleb Gray
The first time they show him in a flashback as a hologram I thought it was Paul Dano, I thought that would be ridiculous if that was him.
>I was kinda surprised when it ended on a cliffhanger though, for some reason I thought it was going to be a stand-alone film. Why is everyone saying it ends on a cliffhanger? Did everyone become stupid. The Force awakens ends on a cliffhanger and it's fucking unacceptable for movies of this caliber. Alita is a complete movie that closes up a chaper. At the end you get a little tease that the story could continue but it's not a fucking cliffhanger.
Jonathan Sanchez
There's no guarantee there will be a sequel.
Kayden Barnes
People feel it's a cliffhanger because the climax is very muted and because of how they've set up Nova. In reality it's no different from the first Matrix (which ends similarly, but because it has a proper showdown and no real setup of further conflicts yet it works better).
Luke Mitchell
Get your head out of your anus. Evangelion is a good show but it has a ton of problems and mistakes that came from budget cuts and the creator having a meltdown. The fans ruined it by telling themselves that every little thing in the show is dripping with meaning and subtext as if a cartoon can hold the secrets to understanding life and the universe.
Evangelion is much more enjoyable when you take a step back and just accept it for what it is-- an interesting and entertaining show that gets kind of shitty in the last few episodes.
Isaac Kelly
I can guarantee you there won't be, the numbers are looking worse than they expected and it won't even break even at this point, it needs around 700 million to break even and it only has a week left before the most important movie of the decade comes out.
Daniel Thompson
I hope it makes more. People were saying Pacific Rim was going to flop but then it managed to get a sequel. Too bad the sequel was trash.
You know what I meant, you fucking nerd
Hudson Davis
This user gets it, there is no cliffhanger It's just that the public has been conditioned by Marvel trash to lack critical thinking Alita is a complete story with closure (like the original star wars) but the story can and will continue This is not a cliffhanger

The numbers go like this: 170 x2 for marketing 350/2 because studio only gets half the ticket sale money That's without taking into account taxes though so it's really closer to 800 million, and I heard the actual budget was 200 million, so x2 for marketing we get 400 million x2 + taxes and it gets up to a whopping 900 mil range. YIKES
It's 15E because it was 4DX + 3D. I don't like 3D but I had not choice, these bastards don't offer 4DX alone
Noah Long
You have no idea how these things go, do you? 200 million budget x2 for marketing, that's 400 million Domestic box office is 61 million. Studio gets half of that so 30.5 million - tax so let's say 23 million. International is 203 million. Studios only get 30% of overseas BO so that's just 61 million, minus taxes that's 46 million. 46 + 23 = 69 million. So currently Alita has made negative 331 million dollars. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A STICKY SITUATION! YIKES-A-DOODLE-DOO!

Fucking love the manga, just saw the movie and I was honestly amazed at how good it was. They absolutely nailed Alita and Ido and the movie's beautiful to look at.
They definitely shoved too much of the manga into the movie though. Like why's Motorball even in there? It made for the best action sequences in the movie but that could have easily been lifted out and it would have made for a much more streamlined story.
Tyler Cruz
>Like why's Motorball even in there?
>It made for the best action sequences in the movie
I really hope it does bad numbers, although it probably won't. Usually I just don't care about capeshit but it's just so obnoxious. Maybe Yea Forums is right this one time
it will likley underperform but a bomb is unlikey due to the brand. personally im indifferent to Capeshit it can have cool eyecandy but no soul and i feel nothing for the characters , i presume people get more out of them if they read the comics.

Yeah, that's bullshit and malicious. Other than an understanding that some of the cheesiness comes from the source material itself,(Ido's jet propelled hammer comes to mind) I went with zero previous knowledge. There's nothing revolutionary in the worldbuilding by 2010 standards, and the story and character archetypes are easily understood. The script omits things for the sake of brevity, (how Chiren gets to be in place to help Alita saving Hugo's head, but in any case her motivations are stated which I believe is more important), but it's a minor problem compared to what the film gets right overall.
