god damn you're stupid. the movie isn't even that good. how the hell do you miss the point of the shooting that blatantly?

it was a huuuuuge mess. not even a cool one. the shooting scene was, by far, the best. the opening, also, very classy, artsy fartsy stuff.

it all falls downs when natalie portman overacting starts. them comes thats fucking ending, that stupid, inconclusive, ending, with the shittiest songs.

> natalie portman doesnt convince ANYONE that she is 31. sad.

very blasé and superficial social commentary imho. would prefer watch a prequel of the school shooter.

> years go by
> everyone looks the same, girl becomes natalie portman

but they did

Raffey Cassidy is the only thing about the movie that works. It's worth watching for her performance, she will go far.

But they never bring it up again in 2017, I wasn't expecting a flashback but at least some acknowledgment considering her career was born out of it and then 18 years later another shooting happens with which she is indirectly related

>would prefer to watch a tranny
kek this board

When?

I thought she was pretty terrible

>I thought she was pretty terrible
who gives a fuck what you think is or isn't terrible? you probably only get entertained by something cringeworthy you say to yourself, that only you think is funny. no one wants to see you happy. go take a shower you fucking loser.

pls post you're feet raffey, you are a cute!

wow... wow... wow...

the tranny spend his holidays with the family that he kills. that movie would be kino, the movie about those niihilist croatian terrorists would be kino as well.

and thats the problem: open a bunch of doors and decide to offer... nothing.

maybe it was the intention, but i feel it was all a hack job - the director CLEARLY didnt know how to sit down and say: "natalie. please. a little less, all right? youre doing a ten, give me an eight."

I thought she played a 10/10 manipulative cunt pretty well

the first hour was promising and then as soon as she turns into portman everything nosedived. also i had to look up her age because she looks damn near 50 in this. shocked she's only 37.

that scene at the dinner, with her daughter, was borderline cringe, imho. too much. way too much.

the redemption was the breakdown, with her sister, but them comes that fucking stupid piece of shit ending and i was just not caring anymore.

> the audience wanted shooters killing all those fans, could say the faggot director.

youre goddamn right, i would say.

couldnt tell one song from another and that what kids those days listen to, jesus christ if this shit is not some kind of mk ultra hypnotic plan.

Do you have mental illness?

> 31 years old.

no fucking way she could convince anyone, for a second, that she was 31. it was an embarassment.

reddit spacing, buzzwords, reaction pics with every post, something about a CIA conspiracy...

reaction pics are the CHARM of this place, my nigga.

anyway, it was a disapointing movie that, like the other guy said, nosedive when natalie portman appears.

conflicted about williem dafoe voiceover. nice voice, but it sounded like director not knowing how to fucking TELL A STORY.

It was obvious the songs were discarded Sia demos but a couple were still pretty catchy

I saw it in the theater and got absolutely blackout drunk and apparently pissed off everyone around me because I kept laughing at it and talking
Woke up the next morning fully clothed in my bed with some nice pizza next to me

>reaction pics are the CHARM of this place, my nigga.
no one cares about what you think the charm of anything is. go back to rddit where you can be an attention whore with aplomb.

Well I've seen Corbet's first film so I knew before watching this film that he isn't primarily interested in telling a story but communicating a mood
And like Childhood of a Leader I think it captured a lot of the uncomfortable anxieties of the late 20th and early 21st century - like mass shootings, celebrity obsession, sexualization of children - which, going by the movie's byline ("A 21st century portrait"), was I think it's main concern
Certainly Armond White seemed to agree

ok, fair criticism. but the lack of an ending was just annoying. but there are moments - the opportunism at saying, at the press that the shooting could be about her being an 'independent woman', her former believe in god, it all nods to a decadent woman.

them the end comes and she is a queen and youre like... ok... the message is...? she is a mess but nice... but a mess...? just turn it all off and let enjoy power shitty pop songs?

i feel like it could be a different product if portman wasnt the producer. maybe the director had his views cut off. we never know, really. i tought it was all too vague for something that had "chapters" - the lack of a satisfaying conclusion.

> the best we have is this explanation that comes from the narrator, i mean, jesus christ how lazy and dumb.

That's another thing the movie touches on a lot - faith
She tells the school shooter that she''l pray with him
Then at the press conference she has a quasi "bigger than Jesus" moment, saying that she's the new religion
But then right after she forces her daughter to pray with her
I think the ending was just subverting the audience's expectations - that something bad or radical would happen at the concert and that there would be a satisfying denouement, certainly something that would lead the viewer to think of Celeste as anything other than the fucked up person she was - but the concert goes on without a hitch. And then the narrator says that her entire success could have been the result of a deal with the devil, and in that moment you realize that the whole plot, from the shooting. to her sinful life, to her unapologetic diva persona, are just a product of a very evil society, and you see just how curious her words a the press conference were: "I used to believe in God...if they want something new to believe in, they can believe in me, 'cause I'm the new faith"

i don't understand why they set the movie in 1999 if they were gonna do bizarre things like have her go viral for her musical performance like it was the youtube era or have a whole scene centered around her filming a music video in 2001 and then have the video look nothing like the very distinct look of early 00s music videos. felt lazy. dare i say, dishonest

This, Wrapped Up and Private Girl were the only good songs
