save that money for watching Captain Marvel on IMAX or whatever

Amazing performances and dancing for the first half, also some genuinely funny moments.

Then it turns into a horror movie. I’m gonna watch it again if I can find the time.

I don't like superhero movies. They are nothing but CGI. Nolan Batman series was watchable tho.

climax was decent but it never went far enough

keep in mind, this is a director who has filmed someone being violently raped for 8 minutes, had a scene where someone got their face bashed in with a fire extinguisher while he jerked off in the background, and has had insane drug related hallucinations and visuals

he finally directs a movie about a small army of ego freaks locked in a room together on a near lethal dose of acid and whats the worst we get? a girl cuts herself for a second (who isnt even high), a kid gets zapped off screen, and someone’s hair is on fire for 2 seconds

this was the film to go all out but noe was unusually restrained and I think it hurt the film rather than helped. For just a moment to see what the characters had seen, for the characters to act more fucked up and destroyed (instead of snapping out of it when its convenient to the plot, for example watch the scene where the girl cuts herself, suddendly everyone is conveniently sober enough to organize around her and roast her), more violence, rape, brutality, general insanity. Most we get is an inverted orgy

cinematography and acting were good, music was sick, but it all never went off the rails enough despite its premise and name

all it did was have a contrived reason for changing the lighting and turn the camera upside down
the climax of climax was simply irritating to watch and I was totally over the film by the last 15 minutes, which is a shame, because I mostly enjoyed it until then.

The Shaun of the Dead style resolution was also totally out of place and pointless.

Meh, not Noe’s best or even second best it’s a 2/5 at best
Suspiria was actually much better and on point with a lot of the strangeness the early one captured. It’s deifnitely nothing like the original but as a stand alone reboot it’s not bad
I compare the two since they both involved themes of dancing and things going awry
