Green Lantern's power is that he can will anything he imagines into reality, so him being involved in any sort of danger or difficulty has always struck me as contrived and unbelievable. Making him some subhuman greaser cunt is a perfect counterbalance to such an absurd and infinite power.

But in a world with Wonder Woman being a powerhouse in the trinity and Batgirl being an instagram heroine as of late new52, there's plenty of female heroines in the spotlight in the DC world. Also, the idea that you can only be inspired by people of the same sex or race as yourself is pretty odd. There's plenty of noteworthy blacks and women that are pretty cool imho.

Here's what you do. You put Cruz in the first movie. She's brought in to replace Hal, who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. She's partnered with professional asshole Guy Gardner, who teaches her the ropes, but Guy is focused on trying to find Hal.

Whole thing leads to Guy and Cruz rescuing Hal and the three of them teaming up to take down... whatever, let's face it the villain doesn't matter.

That depends on who you cast. Hollywood does not allow hot women anymore because that´s "objectification of the female figure" or sexualization and that somehow inhibits or detracts from deep character development... They rather cast ugly mutts and still not give them propper character development.
