Previously: What is found footage? Found footage consists of feature length movies, shorts, or webseries designed to have the look and feel of actual (non-fictional) filmed events that were lost and subsequently discovered and made available to the viewer. HOW TO FIND FOUND FOOTAGE FILMS ONLINE: AN /FFG/ GUIDE
a) Download Sources from best (1) to worst (5)
1) Private Torrents (PTP, CG, and THC are the best for FF and THC is easy to join) 2) Private Usenet accounts (Get these from private torrents and private piracy forums) 3) Public Usenet (use Binsearch, get a free usenet account, slow but it works) 4) Public Torrents (use BTDB, torrentz2, zooqle, rarbg) 5) Public and private DDL (warez-bb, filehosts)
b) Streaming sites have quite a few. Type in google "[name of movie] 123movies"
c) Amazon Prime has a lot of them if you already have an account.
d) Ask /ffg/ for the ones you can't find using above methods. Remember to archive the rare ones for your fellow FF fans!
e) Here's a still-evolving pastebin of FF movies you can watch on Youtube. These are NOT recommendations! pastebin.com/HBBBdXPu
the OP movie is probably my favorite found footage flick
Levi Sanchez
sure
Caleb Evans
One of my favourite found footage films alongside Rec 1. I really liked the catacombs atmosphere and setting. The girl in it is also cute
Josiah Cook
The concept is great because the paris catacombs are really fucking scary, execution gets a little sloppy near the end when it just devolves into jumpscares but there's some nice tension building around the middle of the film.
Christopher Gomez
someone post the webm
Parker Ward
fell apart at the end. everything up until the final 20 or so minutes were great.
As Above So Below is overrated trash and I'm not being contrarian. It's an aimless mess of a movie that starts out as globetrotting treasure hunt, goes occult thriller and turns into horror, but doesn't deliver enough on any front to justify the change as a tweest.
Lucas Cooper
scarlett is cute!
Bentley Taylor
I agree.
Jackson Moore
It's like a Lara Croft horror tale
Joseph Russell
I'm dropping jacquie for scarlett.
Ian Mitchell
I watched this for the first time huddled with 20 other people in the rec room of a 378 foot ship, at 1am, sailing down the coast of Panama. The cultists were the freakiest part
As above so below was pretty decent. A bunch of explorers are under Paris in those catacombs looking for Flamels' grave so they can find the alchemists stone Decent acting, good atmosphere, nice spooks, and the ending is pretty neat. Worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet
Grayson Anderson
nice webms bro
Matthew Parker
Is Apollo 18 considered found footage? Good premise, average story/ execution.
Only thing I hated is they had cool shit like the hooded dude and the statue/wall creatures but we barely see any of them due to the shaky camera. I know it's found footage style but still. Also the fact that they mostly get out alive at the end aside from 3 people seems dumb to me I fully expected them to Come out of the manhole and think they're in the clear but realize they're still in hell and it just looks like the streets of paris
Ethan Phillips
its complete shit. just watch the first 10 minutes where: >the main female character escapes certain death, declares she speaks latin and lockpicks a fucking door >says she needs help reading some fucking tablet she found before a bomb exploded in the first scene and conveniently the only human being in the world who can read this is a 20 something american who looks like a faggot from american pie >she finds this asshole fixing an ancient church bell that hasnt worked for a billion fucking years but he manages to fix it no problem because hes a cool american :^) >cool american also happens to be this girls ex boyfriend or some shit >then this cool american uses his cool american seduction skills on a museum qt to get them inside after theyre closed >then this super duper 10/10 genius female character figures out that the million year old tablet has hidden text on the back and that she has to pull le old liquid and fire trickeroo to get the text to show or some shit
I kept watching after this because it was actually mindblowing how bad this was but cant remember anything else for some reason. Dont get memed by these retards on this general into watching it unless you do it for the laughs, most of these morons have absolute shit taste in movies, which is a pretty accurate description of this general for subhuman losers
Do you guys just role play and pretend that there are good found footage movies besides Chronicle and the Blair Witch Project ?
Cooper Bennett
Watched Cat Skill Park. Was alright, dragged on too long at some part, and the cgi at some points was terrible, but was alright. Finally watched Badder Ben, pure comedy.
Oh no, how will I ever deal your different taste, user? You're so bold. It's a mess of a movie, ans that's my opinion, for which I am not bold to have, for everyone has an opinion.
I've seen The Tunnel and The Borderlands, both are far better movies than AASB.
hey i was wondering if you guys were streaming a playlist somewhere, could be fun to chat about these movies live.
Liam Cooper
I have a Deepak Chopra book that I can read. Is that good?
Landon Mitchell
no
Henry Ross
It has some very creative scenes but I didn't really enjoy it overall. It relied a bit too heavily on the characters who I found to be mostly unlikeable.
It's fucking retarded. But I guess compared to the usual trash around here it's OK.
Sebastian Wood
I found Hell House LLC to be surprisingly comfy
Xavier Richardson
could be easy to do , tho. bunch of linkssssss andboom . especially would be worthy since i can't watch through 80% of those movies because frankly tey are shit... always flake of gold somewhere but really it makes the whole thing better when having an interactive shitpost chat as we watch it. great place to develop ideas .,
Damn I wish people made more alternative posters for films, especially older and foreign films. It would spruce my kino server up a lot.
Juan Ramirez
add the / to the end you baffoon
Logan King
wait is this a korean or japanese movie?
Easton Hall
I don't even know what you're talking about user I'm new to movie poster collecting and nobody has a good newfag collector's guide teach me retard.
Jack Sanders
There's found footage movies on pornhub and redtube too.
Hudson Campbell
no thanks
Jose Myers
I didn't know it was FF, thought it was standard
Aaron Gray
>As Above So Below I fucking love this movie. Perfect balance between Tomb Raider-esque adventure and found-footage horror. Takes too much time to get started though My friends hated it, the fucking plebs.
Oliver Gutierrez
what was?
Kevin Gutierrez
A Record of Sweet Murder
Ryan Perez
it's probably another runaround to get you to waste your time.
Anthony Rivera
cronkle
Justin Flores
>There's found footage movies on pornhub and redtube too. ew
First half-to-two-thirds is features some of the best atmosphere and tension building of any ff horror, but the closing stretch is fucking trash. I don't know what the hell they were thinking.
Kevin Roberts
good night
Kayden Edwards
This post hits the nail on the head, but it doesn't do justice to the shitty ending where Our Perfect MC starts punching demons and backtracking through literal Hell like a fucking Castlevania game post-Symphony. Fuck this film, based cameraman deserved better than this trash MC.
Gabriel Sullivan
This. Tomb Raider x Dante's Inferno. Maximum comfy, and I even liked the ending, sue me.
Carter Fisher
not even close
Elijah Ward
retard
Caleb Price
lol what
Brayden Campbell
watched this last night, it's a well done low budget ff and actually pretty hilarious
the pig farm section with the Polish guy is comfy as fuck
>is capable of expertly butchering a person >for some reason cuts a tiny square section of meat from a body to cook a huge stew Why?
Thomas Scott
to conserve it probably
Parker Mitchell
So it's just horror and mystery films?
Julian Lewis
no
Blake Wood
me too
Grayson Wood
It's literally the same thing.
Caleb Reed
yeah pretty much to conserve I imagine I do the same thing when I have a lot of something
Jonathan Davis
I'm not following
Hudson Price
I'm a big fan of Scarlett from As Above So Below.
Jack Miller
Are found footage films capable of being true kino or are they just a crutch for low budget film makers to punch above their weight? Blair Witch was the only groundbreaking found footage that I can think of and that was more to do with blurring the lines between fiction and reality.
Connor White
t. only watched three FF movies
Christian Reyes
>Blair Witch was the only groundbreaking found footage that I can think of and that was more to do with blurring the lines between fiction and reality. Everybody who says this nonsense has only seen a handful of FF movies. Many of us have seen most of the movies in our guide, which hasn't been updated in a while. FF is more than you think it is because you have certain biases in your mind that don't let you explore the subgenre.
I've only seen a few, yeah. I'm about to watch Long Pigs and I'm interested in the format. I'm not being a dick, I'm just asking your opinions.
Sebastian Rogers
>need a specific cut for stew >cut out a perfect square (including skin) from a cadaver that corresponds to not a single anatomic structure >later pictured expertly butchering an entire body, packing up and labeling the meat for storage
Parker Campbell
I'm a FF pleb, I'll admit it freely butI have liked what little I've seen which is horror mostly. is this a real or meme list?
Easton Ward
This is our best list and it is real, yes.
Jackson James
Been working through this list, it'd be nice if it split them between faux-documentary and "recovered footage" but I can't really complain if I'm not willing to do the work.
Leo Rogers
You should start with the featured film in the OP. It's more entry level than Long Pigs.
Caleb Ramirez
Got it. I'm trying to find a good link for Long Pigs right now but what's your recommendation. AASB looks good and I've heard good things about The Conspiracy. I've seen most of the normie stuff; Blair Witch, Rec, Clovergield, Chronicle, VHS, and Grave Encounters.
I'm writing a film right now that feels like a found footage approach might work but I'm worried it will just be more of the same and I'd like to avoid that if I can
Kevin Evans
You think? I can't find a good link for LP right now so I'm waiting on an amazon tree trial email to come in. I'll watch AASB the now and get back to LP
Elijah Scott
Yeah and when I say entry level I don't mean it as a negative thing. You have to get used to the format and the way they do found footage to really appreciate it. And Long Oigs is pretty low budget so when you dive into those lower budget films you need to be comfortable with the way they're filmed. Long Pigs manages to look sort of realistic though, even with the small Joey.
Evan White
small budget*
Damn iPad
David Anderson
I just started AASB and I'm glad I did. If the thread's still up when I finish I'll be back lmao
>but what's your recommendation Just go through the whole list, start with the ones whose premises interest you the most. I've found that recommending FF doesn't really work as well as what I'm telling you to do right now because what I like may not be what you like. For example, Lake Mungo is beloved here but some people get angry at it because it's "not scary to them" even though nobody told them it was "scary" in the traditional sense.
Thomas Russell
Hey man, thanks. I'm just going to trust you've not given me cyberAIDS
Lucas Allen
Luke Mungo is interesting, I'm a bit lukewarm about it overall but I feel like it has some of the most "earned scares" in the genre.
Damn, that was actually really good. Thanks for the recommendation lads
Nolan Johnson
True
Zachary Powell
Guys, I'm going on a trip to a place pretty much in the middle of nowhere with some friends tomorrow. Can you recomend some movies for that kinda feeling?
I'm downloading Exists (2014) and the OP's movie already to start the night.
converting all my mp3s to a lower bitrate. it literally (used in the correct sense) took more than 24 hours to add 6GB of files to iTunes. so I decided to take a breather for an hour or two and it ended up lasting all night i made one or two posts anyway, but like 75% less than I usually would
no problem, it's cool to see them all laid out like that. I imagine it might be useful to anyone interested in making their own horror movie/story
Carter Fisher
damn g is the computer running a little better at least?
Jaxson Ortiz
I can't even tell yet honestly. that 6GB was only one folder of albums I've downloaded recently (including all the Anticon stuff), I've got dozens more. it's easy to do, pretty much clicking and dragging, but it takes so long and I don't want to open anything else that might cause the programs to crash. and I'm only up to the steps of converting and adding them to iTunes, I haven't even synced them onto my phone yet. I'd estimate that I'll be able to listen to some new music some time next week. fingers crossed.
Ethan Jackson
what's going on?
Anthony Sanchez
Well that was also an interesting one. It's like the Making a Murderer of a horror movie's aftermath. Wish it hadn't been zombies though.
Michael Richardson
hi Marvin!
Josiah Reed
lol
Jonathan Ward
What does /ffg/ expect from a found footage film? If you could tell the creators to do or not do one thing what would it be? Which do you prefer, the "recovered footage" or "fake documentary"?
What's your favourite found footage film and why is it Blair Witch?
Well Mr. Market Researcher, there's a lot of cliches in this genre that badly hamper the movies they're in. Constant screaming, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT????, running so much I can't see shit, unrealistic camera glitches, longface ghost, 'why are you still filming', it's shit we're all sick of and laugh at. Certain exceptions have to be made for the sake of fiction, of course, but you can only press that so much.
I like both forms, but I have a soft spot for fake documentary types, I think it's a format with a ton of potential. For instance, Savageland and Lake Mungo are both fantastic and balance their unnatural element well with the expected realism of a documentary. But things like Fury of the Demon, which had me guessing at points whether it was fake for not, tip too far into the territory of grounded reality. Recovered footage needs to answer a few questions in a way that don't slap you in the face, the most glaring one is why certain scenes are even filmed. For the sake of plot, but the audience ever questions it, you failed. Blair Witch Project answers it perfectly through the character of Heather and her need for control. It's part of the character interactions. But other movies just have the camera running at certain points for no discernible reason. There must be a precedent for it beyond 'hey we're making a movie!', give it a necessity. [REC] answers it better than most since they intend to leak the footage to the outside world.
Budget means nothing, /ffg/ loves Leaving DC for its relatable and kind of lovable main character but also the really intimate feel and genuine spookiness. On the other hand we love shit like Chronicle, an actual Hollywood production. It comes down to the script and the idea and the creativity of the filmmakers. Limitations breed creativity. That's why BWP is so good, it's a student film that does everything right, even if it did sew the seeds of some cliches, it did them first and did them best.
Lucas Roberts
I hope it works out getting some cool ranch doritos right now lol
Isaac Taylor
figure out how to make a scary movie without relying solely on jumpscares. and if you absolutely have to have them, mix it up a bit so it's not the only method. and definitely do not make them pointless and unrelated to the plot with loud audio blasts. it's cheap, lame and never scary. it even makes me respect the filmmaker less. >omg their cell phone rang!! >omg a door slammed shut!! if you can't make a scary movie without resorting to blasting me in the face with a stab of audio every time I'm supposed to be spooked, you need to stop making movies altogether.
I'm willing to forgive one, but as soon as this happens more than once, I lose interest and will actively go out of my way to tell people that your movie a shit.
I kinda dread and like the thought that for the rest of their lives they will wonder if they are actually back in their world...
Owen Wood
Gangweed?
Evan Nelson
That obvious, huh? I appreciate the input.
Jordan Ward
I agree. Jump scares are the horror equivalent of fart jokes. They can be great but there's a time and a place.
Hunter Jackson
>and definitely do not make them pointless and unrelated to the plot with loud audio blasts I cannot stand this shit, 100% agree.
Logan Gonzalez
It's the camera glitches that get me. Take me right out of it
Carson James
>Blair Witch Project answers it perfectly through the character of Heather and her need for control. It's part of the character interactions. excellent point. directors need to figure out an organic way to make it plausible for larger audiences to believe that someone would still be filming.
even though I don't really know if it makes sense in reality, the autistic kid who was always filming in Alien Abduction (2014), felt very natural to me. same with REC (which you were also right about), it made a lot of sense. "we need to let people know what happened here!!!"
it's just hard to figure out a believable reason why and some directors are lazy and think "fuck it, the audience will get it" which can be incredibly detrimental to a film because people like things to make sense to them and might be only willing to suspend their disbelief so much.
actually the guys who made Found Footage 3D did a good job of making it seem believable, and I would recommend people check it out. (if you hate meta stuff, you might want to skip it but I thought they did a great job of justifying everything they did through the lense of "rules of horror films")
I always thought she was named after the lady dog from 101 Dalmatians

>wales is similar to england wew that's a dangerous opinion, friend. Wales a separate country, like Scotland, under the banner of the United Kingdom and they answer to England's government. Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland are all Celtic, England is Anglo-Saxon, therefore Germanic, although they have Celtic ancestry way back. Irish, Scottish and Manx are more closely related to each other than Welsh, Breton and Gaulish, and other extinct Celtic languages.
Levi Hughes
it was an ignorant statement thanks for the ejumacation, I will store the information
another kino nose, I might start a chart for kino noses
Sebastian Rodriguez
Haven't seen much of the genre, just The Blair Witch Project, VHS, and As Above so Below but I enjoyed thrm.
Julian Turner
what did he see?
Brandon Butler
Started lifting weights back in January, it's done wonders for my confidence and I feel and look better than I have at any other point in my life. Coincidentally I also rapidly started losing my hair at almost the same time. As above, so below.
I love when he went to take a piss and they got him riled up and he suddenly decided he didn't need to piss. I still have an hour left too because I had to pause it a couple of times.
Grayson Torres
JRE is the only one I've ever listened to because he gets all sorts of good guests. I'm not a fan of podcasts otherwise, they're usually too boring for me. but he interviews a bunch of people from various backgrounds. they aren't all winners though. and this one was particularly good.
James Rogers
toma
Jaxson Richardson
Is The Bay any good? Didn't know Lebron James was in it.
I've freed up like 15GB and counting so far by compressing my music folders. oh damn, I think I'm closer to the end than I expected. but my computer is definitely running a bit smoother.

I read part of his Meditations when I was studying Blake in college. They're pretty dank and definitely worth reading if you like grim, quasi-mystical stuff.
