is hollywood a money laundering scheme?
Is hollywood a money laundering scheme?
but left is Blumhouse and right is a major studio
So because it’s a major studio, they have to piss away money? 2049 looks worse than the original
2049 hasn’t an ounce of atmosphere of what the original had, and that’s a fact. It’s way more immersive.
>profoundly shitty taste in movies
>apple filename
Upgrade is just an extended Black Mirror episode.
they have to pay actors big amounts for one, nareketing, music and so on
>looks worse than the original.
I would bet you 5000 bucks that you saw neither in the cinema.
upgrade sucked tho.
no
Are you implying that Upgrade has visuals and effects comparable to 2049?
Just watched Upgrade last night and it was a really ugly movie, I enjoyed it though.
Ive always wondered where the fuck does all that fucking money go to. Jack and jill had a 80mill production budget. You could literally recreate the exact same fucking movie with a 100k dollars if you wanted to. How the fuck do they spend so much money in every single fucking movie no matter what it is.
Yeah forgot that the original didn’t had actors, it’s not like Harrison Ford was a massive star back then coming from Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Nor it had marketing and soundtrack either.
Look man, even if you spent 100€ on Ford+Gosling+marketing(which wasn’t that much)+soundtrack is still a lot of money left. The fact that some Aussie film can cost 5m and look as slick and pleasing as American productions that cost hundreds of millions should tell you that something’s wrong in Hollywood
Upgrade's budget limitations were too obvious, come on. They built like just one car, few sets, a dozen props and hired a bunch of literally whos with the ultra-low budget Tom Hardy.
And in turn earned several times its budget instead of being a box office bomb like most of the bloated productions that aren’t by Disney
BRs budget is somewhat understandable, it's an effects heavy film with massively detailed sets and expensive props, not to mention the amount of people who work on it and the salaries for people like Harrison Ford. By comparison, Upgrade just takes place in some mildly rundown city with some mildly futuristic-looking appliances and houses
You put too much faith in your filename friendo. I just saved it and clover keeps the original. I'm on android
Anyway, both you and are idiots. The original post was saying that 2049 looks worse than the original, which is fucking retarded to believe.
>this movie used a limited budget intelligently and that's a bad thing
ask yourself why is it better to say "fuck that, we're gonna brute force this production" and piss money away. Current hollywood productions are the equivalent of modern software with 0 optimization and thought behind its development
original BR cost 73 million adjusted for inflation. Ford was a huge star back then and technology is supposed to have advanced in near 40 years.
>The fact that some Aussie film can cost 5m and look as slick and pleasing as American productions that cost hundreds of millions should tell you that something’s wrong in Hollywood
Yeah, watching those 2 films on a 13 inch screen really allows for some good judgement on the matter.
Stop complaining
Both kino
yeah dude you're the only one with a big ass tv at home. You're right, american productions aren't bloated at all and are worth every penny
Have you ever heard of Hollywood Accounting? They don't spend anywhere close to that amount but they "creatively" include every expense they can get away with. It's a feature; not a bug.
Pedophile cultists get paid ALOT for a given role; ergo take up a significant portion of the budget.
Then factor in the incessant marketing that's more like a full scale information war than shilling for a movie. The sets, take time and money to build and their builders must be paid. The filming crew gets paid too.
Editing also needs time and money. You also need equipment to film with; sometimes you have to build/buy specialized tools or invent your own. The appropriate palms need to be greased too, if things are to go
anywhere, nothing gets done without (((their))) blessing. If the movie has even a tiny bit of CGi, yet another crew has to be paid for their work. Stuntmen too. Add extra costs for fuckups like re-shoots and accidents.
That's about it.
Answer me this. Did you watch BR in the cinema?
Did you watch Upgrade on anything bigger than 13 inch screen?
Because if you had seen BR in the cinema, you wouldnt be spouting such nonsense.
did you?
>You put too much faith in your filename friendo. I just saved it and clover keeps the original. I'm on android
I have no fucking idea what you're talking about. I took the full image from a /pol/ thread, cropped it in Paint in a couple of minutes and saved it.
I also don't use 4chanX. You'd better take your medication, schizo.
>saying that 2049 looks worse than the original, which is fucking retarded to believe
Does Villeneuve fuck you with that sterile, clinical, textureless CGI cock of his, or do you treat yourself?
you're getting hung up because OP used a film you like for the sake of the argument while you ignore the point that 95% of american films are bloated
I watched BR in the cinema twice. Once on a IMAX screen and once in a medium sized cinema.
I watched Ugrade on a 4k 50 inch tv.
Visually speaking BR is a masterpiece. Upgrade is Netflix-tier visuals with a decent plot. But what am I saying, you dont care about that. You just hate BR, or Villeneuve or the Goose for some reason and anything I say will be ridiculed instead of addressed.
how many full scale custom built sets did upgrade have
Then why use the one film that isnt bloated? Why not use Avengers, or the Hobbit as an example?
Why use the film with actual sets, with actual real lighting, with actual scale models for the city? BR had very little "full CG" green screen shots.
>le CGI!
eh
god i wish that were me
I never said that Upgrade looks equal or better than BR 2049. I'm saying that it doesn't look 37 times worse than BR 2049 given the difference in budget.
because it's the first thing I thought about when thinking about cyberpunk action films. I could've used Ghost in the Shell but BR 2049 costs more so it serves to highlight the issue. Stop being a fangirl, I like BR 2049. You're the only one sperging in this thread because you adopted the "my identity is defined by the media I consume and I adopt a me vs them attitude"
>I have no fucking idea what you're talking about
Are you retarded? You're the one that tried to use my picture having an "apple filename" as a point for some reason like that 100% means I'm on an apple device.
>Does Villeneuve fuck you with that sterile, clinical, textureless CGI cock of his, or do you treat yourself?
I think it's funny you'd tell anyone to take their meds when it sounds like you're the one that really needs them. There's really no need to be this mad over someone saying the visual effects of a movie with double the budget of another after inflation and with 30 years of technological progress look better.
>There's really no need to be this mad over someone saying the visual effects of a movie with double the budget of another after inflation and with 30 years of technological progress look better.
next you're gonna say Prometheus looks better than Alien because it looks "cleaner". You have 0 idea of aesthetics my man.
>NEW = GOOD
>backpedaling this hard.
Im gonna ignore all the ad hominems and say this:
You have no idea what youre talking about. You have no idea how marketing works. You have no idea how and why some films are expensive and why some indie flicks cost almost nothing to make. You have no idea how cinematography works and lastly, you cant even counter a single point I made and resort to the most tiresome ad personal attacks.
>"my identity is defined by the media I consume and I adopt a me vs them attitude"
Yeah, thats it. My opinion is cognitive dissonance, because my fragile identity, which is entirely dependent on the perceived quality of a highly-shat on flick, cannot handle the baseless blanket accusations of some anonymous brainlet on a forum, which consists of 60% capeshit shilling, 30%sneed posting, 5% baneposting and lastly less than 1% actual movie discussions.
You really need to take a long look in the mirror kid. If you cant allow yourself to genuinely enjoy a film without giving a fuck what the mainstream thinks, then youll live a miserably life jumping from some zoomer YT video channel spoon feeding you opinions for the rest of your life.
Im done with you. Hope you learned something.
>he probably already hates Dune, because it insists upon itself and is a dishonest flick
No, Prometheus looks like shit.
What's your next argument?
>I say I like BR 2049
>misconstructs my post and thinks I'm anti-villeneuve
yep, you outed yourself as a fangirl. Since you're done with me then go to another thread and leave the adults to discuss things without stupid fanboyism.
Gosling alone is over 3-5 million.
>upgrade
generic quasi-futuristic setting. No large sets, film is plot driven and has no dashing over-the-top visuals
>BR2049
Picture has many enormous practical sets - including a real water tank where they shot the climactic fight scene. Visual exposition builds the incredibly detailed futuristic setting. Expensive visual effects like Holographic character, Elvis hologram and re-creating de-aged sean young.
ah so you're the retard that has been constantly spamming this collage for years. good to know you. did you work in the film? you seem to defend it with more passion that you would with your father, probably because you don't have any
>has literally no argument
>starts spewing imaginary headcanon instead
Man this is embarrassing. Also this was spammed mostly by ReviewScrew crying against the film with his buzzword brainfarts
