I took terbinafine for 6 months and when my toenails grew out, they grew out in such a way that both my big toe nails were ingrown, causing severe pain that meant if I tapped my foot the wrong way on something the nail would rip into my skin and cause bleeding and severe pain that I had to limp around. I had to get partial toenail removal surgery (basically taking a little off the sides of the nails), which was metal since you can watch the podiatrist just rip and tear into your toes as you see the blood and fat. My doctor had never seen this consequence before though so maybe it's a rare outcome.

Also if you have liver problems then you shouldn't take it. I also never got side effects besides the physical one described above. Maybe she's contraindicated for some reason or she experiences side effects.
