I think it was 2002 or something when they got rid of the adult ratings on FF.net. I actually like to read the comments left by other readers, and it's sorta disheartening to see some piece of work, say a "good" piece of work, not get a mention. Then that author never writes anything again and I come across awesome stories that have been abandoned for nearly 10 years or more.
I suppose the pastebinner are worse off, since there's not even the option to leave a comment at all, and all discussion, praise or detraction have to be done on some external forum.
Archive of our own seems to have a pretty vocal readership.
