But he's not a evolutionist, he's a literal lunatic conspiracy theorist in the movie. The character basically captures the zeitgeist of society pre-2000 when a lot of people thought the apocalypse was coming. The movie is such a masterpiece that even being a little bit dated it's still frightening and pretty good.
Give it a watch user, you'll like it.
