This trailer literally laid out the plot twice as much as the first trailer did which was enough to get people to watch it. Its pokemon, the plot didn't even need to be mentioned. Instead they doubled down on overexposing everything that happens in the movie, right down to what the mystery is.
And to cap it off they blow their massive load on showing mewtwo.

Imagine if they just didn't show shit until release day and you see that for the first time. It'd be hype, now I have no idea whats there to sell me personally on this.

Dragonball doesn't translate well into live action. There are too many humanoid animal critters running around, and while these become less relevant after the Dragonball proper arcs, they are still in Z and without the original Dragonball arc audiences would be totally confused as to why there's a talking pig running around.

Really, a full on Journey to the West adaptation using elements from Dragonball would be better. Like call it: "Dragonball: Journey to the West", and then have the sequel to that be "Dragonball: Journey to the Heavens" with the Namek arc.

My Hero Academia would come first, it appeals to anime fans and Superhero fans - and if Shazam is a success then this will be fast tracked.

Dragon Ball will be next, Mewtwo getting so much hype and talk generated for Detective Pikachu will ensure the villain is Frieza in the live action Dragon Ball.

Notice they're not adapting the Pokemon anime or main games, they're adapting the spinoff Detective Pikachu game. Just having a kid go around to gyms collecting badges and trying the league would make for a shit film, the world and journey is too broad and video game based to work as a 1:50 hour story. Instead they adapted the spinoff that actually has a plot and is contained in a smaller corner of the Pokemon world. It's a detective buddy cop film but with Pokemon running around. Also keeps the budget very reasonable.
You can't do that for Dragonball, you need to adapt the story proper and that's easier said than done.

They're gonna try it but it won't be as easy as Pokemon is doing it.

Pokemon is diferent because Pokemon themselves are basically magical animals, which means they get a huge dose of immunity from the uncanny valley. A talking humanoid pig has the potential to look VERY weird unless it's something like this:

Is it possible to have a Dragonball live action movie look good? Well, anything is possible. But will it? That's the fucking question. And with regards to this Pokemon movie, it could easily have been fucked up if they didn't take great care in integrating pokemon into the urban setting, which they did succeed in doing. That may not happen in a Dragonball movie, which may leave audiences confused as to why furries are everywhere.

On a last note, I'm not saying they won't do a more traditional story for Pokemon if this film is a big hit, which it looks like it will be, but it will never just be a straight adapation of Red/Blue or Ash in the anime. It'll be a lot more contained and story based.

You keep talking about story. What about something really basic, Goku's hair. How you do translate that to live action faithfully, without it looking like cosplay or a farce? The Evolution movie failed at it, he just had gelled up hair. When he goes Super Saiyan, how does that look? That could easily look stupid in live action if you do it wrong.

That's the most basic thing and it's a hurdle. Live action anime is hard for much more grounded series than Dragonball. If you want a faithful Dragonball, that means lots of yelling, charging, flying, beams and bombs and crazy costumes, wacky looking characters, shonen ass declarations and melodrama, etc.
It can work, but it's always going to straddle the line between intentional crazy, and just looking stupid or cheesy.
