People accuse based snyder of missing the point, that he made capeshit out of a comic book meant to criticize capeshit, but in reality it's an incredibly strong adaption. Moore failed in writing a satire, similar to the failure of verhoeven with starship troopers.
It's incredible that moore was able to write one of the best capeshit stories of all time, despite his every attempt to make the characters unlikeable, pathetic, and cruel. It really speaks to the degree of moore's hackishness that his failure was such a success.

Just because something is a deconstruction of something else doesn't mean that you're supposed to hate all of the characters, you absolute brainlet. It just means they're supposed to be more real, more grounded. That's what Watchmen is and why it's brilliant. It fucks the old super hero cliches and proves that the genre can be more interesting for it.
