Reminder to the lurkers. Yea Forums DOES NOT like this pleb trash the cycle is never wrong >plebs come to Yea Forums to talk about it and spew their optimistic and positive opinions about it >the patrician regular posters either wait for for the rip or are in the minority >the plebs leave because they have other boards to shitpost on >all that's left are the regular Yea Forums posters >they usually hate it since movies like this tend to be shit

>reposting my response in this new thread.
Well we were just at the perfect shit storm epicenter for it - we've got a burgeoning weeb culture that has been largely turned off by Hollywood anime adaptations. And we have an extensive meme culture that went to town eviscerating any credibility the original trailers and marketing for this movie might have had. Finally, we are heavily steeped in irony and post-irony, meaning everything has to be self-aware and self-degrading to be accepted. Honesty and sincerity will be laughed out of the theater by jaded fucks, so the dialogue in this movie just couldn't resonate with some people on first watch.
LETS GOOOO. These threads are by far better than all the /pol/, sjw, blacked, pedo bullshit. Finnaly a movie we can all talk about without that other shit.
Ah, but you have failed to take into account that 4channel as a whole loves cute things, and Alita is a cute thing, and therefore your patrician claims fall flat!
William Phillips
How come China gets all the kino posters? I only saw the basic blue-orange poster at the cinema
I occasionally post some of the things you mentioned, but this is truly a unification that we can all enjoy alita generals. This is my 4th one today
Nathan Morales
Anyone have any solid reactions for 2ch? Or Futaba, or whatever the Japanese original image board is called again? I wanna know what their neckbeards and otaku think.
Also I've been thinking about the timing of this movie - even if its reception in the US has been lukewarm, I really feel like Cameron chose the right time to release this movie to capture the anime and Jap culture zeitgeist we have going on at the moment. There hasn't yet been a Hollywood movie to truly capture the wonders of anime or manga on the big screen, even though there is clearly a growing culture for it. This movie could be that touchstone, and it could easily shape things in ways we can't imagine going forward. Though this all largely depends on its sequels, and if they are good.
If you're still worried just look at Camerons twitter. He completely idolizes Alita and will do what needs to be done for a sequel
Nathaniel Campbell
I'm debating on seeing it at the legit IMAX screen at the Chinese Theater. I have already seen it once in 2D and once in LIEMAX 3D. I will buy a expensive special edition blu ray of it too.

No, strangley do not see her as a sex object. Just a good protagonist. Someone to root for regardless of gender or race. The future she lives in is our inevitable future also. It feels natural to root for her.

My good friend Alita is so pretty, and her movie is great!

I wasn't aware these dudes were into waifus until this movie came out.
I've seen it multiple times in imax 3d, and I can confidently say you will not regret it for a second.
Andrew Perry
They're only human after all.
Juan Howard
I can forgive her nonsense by sheer fact that Alita wouldn't be Alita without Rosa. Her facial expression skills were key to bringing her to life, as were her lips. Combine that with her sultry older yet still innocent sounding voice and you've got the components to this weapons grade waifu.
If this single tweet doesn't convince you of his love, I don't know what will. Cameron spent 20 years pushing film tech to its limits and dropping the highest grossing film ever just for his waifu.
Finally watched it. I must say it was really good. By far the best cgi I've ever seen. The ugly 32yo Shrek larping as 16yo Leo dying like a dumbass in the end redeemed what would have otherwise been a huge flaw. I look forward to rewatching it knowing that he dies, and hopefully the sequels.
Good night guys! Going to see the film again the second I wake up in the morning, got my tickets. We're going fucking strong and we will get there, my boys. We're in the home stretch. We just got some more fighting to do.

>As long as the artists don't let it infest the work >"Iron city", originally "Dumpster City", was a hellhole of human and inhuman misery devoid of morals, everyone is trash and treated as such. Everyone slaves off for the factory, no one can rebel against them, motorball is not a sport, but a beastly distraction for adrenaline addicts. Happiness doesn't fucking exist. how it is presented in this "movie" >oppressive technological dystopia but who cares, we live in a beautiful vibrant multicultural favela where everyone mostly gets along and lives fine. multikulti south-american shithole with fancy metal arms which are seen as completely normal and not generally as a loss on humanity, woo-hoo.

Uh, the movie constantly references the fact Iron City is a shit hell hole and it corrupts good people. Don't know where you got that second part.
Jayden Clark
Ok, you've gotten the hype in these threads, but I wanna also give you a realistic appraisal of the film before you go.
You have to expect breakneck pacing - on first viewing the film will barely give you time to "breath" and consider each plot point and character building moment before moving on. Interspersed with that are the gorgeous visuals and great action scenes that can overwhelm you. So you might feel lost, but do trust that everything is coherent and structured as it should be, with callbacks and hints and details sprinkled throughout.
On top of that, the dialogue is very earnest and honestly delivered, there is no self-aware ironic marvel quips in this. So if you think that's cheesy, then get ready to embrace the cheese. But its good regardless and again ties into the coherent story.
Finally you have to think of this movie a character building arc for Alita and almost a prologue. That said, it should leave you super hyped by the end.
What makes Alita better then any MCU action girl? Like, she's never annoying for a manhater
Carson Barnes
this. a true testament to alitas beauty.
Bentley Phillips
None of those films are bad, but I wouldn't consider them my favorites outside Alita. Infinity War just okay because Thanos was slightly interesting.
Cooper Russell

I cannot do it, bros. I leave Yea Forums for a week, and when I return, hopefully, the movie will gross enough to get a sequel. I will be heartbroken if it doesn't and I don't have a nerve to follow the news updates daily.
>Somebody The vast majority who like it have shit taste and not in the meme way just straight bad taste in film
Juan Wood
No need to be upset, my friend. You have bad taste and like the movie for reasons unrelated to it's quality.
Brody Bell
It really isn't. You're just saying that because you couldn't keep up with the admittedly fast pacing. But all the key elements necessary are there and in good order.
Grayson Ortiz
Alita is a strong female protag in a complex setting with realistic emotions. She is flawed and emotes with other flawed characters. She relies on them, and they rely on her. She encounters joy and tragedy. The respect she develops is earned. It's so much better than capeshit.

Same. I was more worry about her eyes but in didn't looks weird in the movie considering how fucked up most other cyborgs were.
Though I only realised the reason on why her eyes were like that during her third flashback with that female martian officer. Yea I'm kinda slow...
Blake Jenkins
literally noone cares about your opinion or why you think your 'taste' is any better than anyone elses
He lives in his lab user. Is that really your criticism? Holy shit.

More than that, no one in the entire world, save for perhaps Kishiro himself, can truly claim Alita as his waifu other than Jimbo here. We may all be in love here, but he's cemented it fully and forever with this.
Alexander Jenkins

Why do you want it to end. We getting 2 sequels.
Noah Johnson
because fucking movies have a start and an end. If they wanted a sequel they should have fucking made an ending so next movie im supposed to love that not having an ending either?
Christian Russell
I think that was the best way to end it with a high note. There were so much catastrophic shit and death happening during that 3 month time gap before the end scene
Joshua Moore
I too was sad about the ending at first, but then it just made me like the film even more. Hopefully we get our trilogy.
Grayson Phillips
>WTF WHY DIDN'T FRODO DESTROY THE RING AM I SUPPOSED TO LOVE THE TWO TOWERS WHEN HE DOESN'T DESTROY THE RING THIS IS NOT AN ENDING REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Okay user, okay. who was the villian if not the masive faggot in the floating city? She fucked on everyone easily, there was no "bad guy" the mother was supposed to be the villian but even that whore said fuck an ending
David Garcia
>every action CGI movie is capeshit! B&R
Thomas Johnson
Fun fact : Alita never ate oranges or chocolate even before that. She only ate tasteless byproduct rations ever since she was a child
Blake Sullivan
It’s what capeshit should aspire to be, a sincere and fun movie with a likable protagonist and great visuals.
So is Alita in her motorball body by the end, or her berserker body modded out? I’m not sure if she ran away from ido and home in the movie, since manga Ido disapproves of her joining motorball at all but movie Ido is fine with it. Interesting, I’ll check it out. >spoiler Does it even have any competition? I was going to say On the silver globe before I remembered that was polish. Seems all that’s filmed in the Czech Republic is exhibitionist porn.
>who was the villian if not the masive faggot in the floating city? Nova is no doubt evil as fuck but he will be Alita greatest ally on taking down the floating city
Dominic Martin
>So is Alita in her motorball body by the end, or her berserker body modded out?
I am wondering the same thing
Christopher Sullivan
Is it possible that we could be looking at the first of a kind? The very first successful cyberpunk movie?
Alita had the balls to dismember its protagonist and let her drop an f bomb while sticking her remaining limb into someone’s eye. It had the balls to kill off a puppy and have the protagonist smear its blood on her face as warpaint. It had the balls to be sincere about its dialogue and characters rather than being filled with quips and jokey “ain’t this silly” moments. It wrapped up all the plot threads that needed wrapping up while building momentum for the overarching conflict. I don’t see what’s so ballsy about “killing off” some protagonists when everyone knows they’ll be brought back unharmed in the next film, especially since some of them literally already have sequel films planned. It’s the opposite of ballsy.
Brody Parker
It's not successful so no.
Camden Phillips
STOP CRITICIZING DISNEY YOU FUCKING COMMIE RUSSIAN BOT
Connor Young
It has the balls to have its protagonist not lob some bullshit platitude of "KILLING HIM WILL MAKE YOU JUST AS EVIL" or "SAVING THE ONES YOU LOVE" because that's how the world has ever worked, and will never work. The protagonist straight up murders people who deserve it.
Brody Adams
It would be nice, but we aren't even close enough to hit that high mark yet.
>So is Alita in her motorball body by the end, or her berserker body modded out? It's a tricked out motorball body. The berserker body was destroyed between the 3 months time gap
Noah Gray
THIS
Dominic Harris
Dude the Matrix trilogy is already a thing and done by the courageous & beautiful Wachkowskiwiecz sisters too.
Bentley Cooper
Great meme update thanks
Aaron Howard
Can you all fuck off, this thread reads like a 5 hired retards spamming replies marketing this bullshit to the retards on Yea Forums who love anime.
These "generals" are just a marketing scheme. And any dumb cunts you manage to suck into this vortex of shit are too naive to tell otherwise.
Fuck these threads, fuck all of you. Alita sucks dick, Ill never see this film because of your gay as fuck shilling.
Easton Kelly
>balls to let Thanos snap Honest question, what did you think he was going to do with the gauntlet exactly? That snap is iconic as the character itself. What they didn't have the balls to do is to put Death herself seducing a young Thanos to murder shit.
Jace Scott
Buy tickets to Alita user, join in on the fun instead of excluding yourself
Relax mickey i'll go watch toy story 4 if this will comfort you
Luke Flores
Look at those gentle eyes.
Colton Thompson
How the fuck did Death Wish go from absolute kino to absolute garbage in the sequels?
Camden Price
As stated with others, my immediate problem with the snap is "This is a comic book movie and in comics they always find a way to reverse hopeless situations." So it's just, how does Captain Rottentoes get her hands on the Infinity Stones and reverse everything?
Landon Foster
She's a Disney princess that will rip your face off... well at least thats how i describe her.
Thomas Evans
Even as I kid I despised the whole "if you kill him he'll win" thing. No, you kill him and his threat no longer plagues existence. Batman is wrong. Superman gets a pass because he's basically just Jesus.
Nathaniel Martin
this is a good point
Caleb Gray
Cannon got the rights to Death Wish and churned out sequels with the quality of the rest of their films they put out in the '80s.
>"Fuck your mercy !!" Best line delivery in some time
Christopher Hall
This is why I love the Punisher.
Brayden Brown
I don't know, I haven't read Captain Marvel at all but in Civil War 2 and in that she's even more wrong than fucking Tony. I mean that kind of "plot twist" is like revealing that when Orion finally fulfills his prophecy of killing Darkseid by literally ripping his heart out, he fucked the multiverse.
Her eyes are big, innocent and expressive. You will love her if you give her the chance.
Chase Davis
Anime has had actual strong female characters since the 70s. And in the 80s and 90s, you got hundreds of protagonists who were great, probably because the mangaka wanted to draw women over dudes and tailored their works for that, like all of Kenichi Sonoda's stuff. Dirty Pair, Gunbuster, Bubblegum Crisis, Dominion Tank Police, Patlabor, Project A-ko, and countless more, all before Brie Larson was born.
Tyler Miller
Zack Snyder himself took inspiration from Birdy the Mighty for his take on the Man of Steel.
David Moore
Don't be this retarded please , just give it a try and you'll regret you didn't see her earlier
God. Can you imagine how cool a modern Dirty Pair movie could be, if it had the taste and reserve to not degrade into Charlie's Angels? I know I'm asking the impossbile, but there was that fine line.
Adrian Bell
I've seen the movie The eyes doesn't take me out of the movie but I was fixated on them in a bad way in every scene they were in
Jayden Watson
It's not Charlie's Angels because they're also kind of horrible people despite attempting to do their jobs. But that's what makes them great, as they destroy everything.
Tyler Foster
These chicks are the reason I checked out and got into the original Star Trek series.
David Cruz
80s produced the aesthetic I enjoy the most in anime. It has the floofy style, the big eyes, the angular 80s look, and lots of bright blinking details.
Nathan Foster
This guy speaks the truth.
Parker Hall
Reminder that Alita is just another run of the mill misogynist "born sexy yesterday" character in another uninspired cyberpunk world without any of your favorite Disney stars in it. It's literally 5th Element -tier problematic.
To be fair, in the 70s, anime in Japan underwent an experimental phase which would stretch out all the way to the late 80s. Companies gone and went as people were trying to outspend and outclass each other.
William Richardson
That's sad , I've rarely seen any anime or things like that and this one didn't bother me at all just made her look cuter .
Robert King
bad bait come up with something worth getting angry about
Joseph Lee
Alita is his waifu so it was appropriate to be released on Valentine's day Jim is a man of culture
Plus it can always be remastered to 4K if need be. 1080p film anime makes a fucking ridiculous difference compared to how everyone watched stuff back in the day.
Noah Morales
I felt like it subverted that trope rather adroitly, both the film and surely the source material.
John Mitchell
Indeed. Hopefully both movies shall be remembered with equal fondness.
This. Also, the Japanese take on the strong female character is much more balanced than the Western one. All these characters, from Alita to Rally, are strong and brave, but still have a feminine side. Their strength of character is built on facing hardships, not on antagonizing and belittling men. They're not footsoldiers in a gender war. They're not proxies for fanatics of any political ideology. They're not at war with the reader or the viewer. Instead, they're characters both men and women can like. Alita is inspiring as a warrior, and she's also a top tier waifu. These characters feel more real than anything made by feminists, who approach the "strong female character" from an artificial, ideological point of view.
I've noticed that almost ALL the negative responses to this movie on Yea Forums are copy pasted comments from other threads. >This also coincides with the rise in devil's advocate type posts for the Captain Mouse movie
I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch but this is really suspicious to me.
there's no doubt in my mind that Jim is the >$700 mil frogposter
Andrew Torres
If you are a karateka fisherman, she is very much for sex. Remember that in Last Order, (brainchip)Alita had a flesh and blood body made specifically to store her original organic brain, so that this Alita could be Figure's waifu and have tons of kids with him.
Camden Sullivan
But what are the criticism? >eyes are weird >movie ends Anything else?
just saw this movie tonight. No forced diversity or any SJW bullshit. I can't believe how refreshing that was, just a fucking movie. Great way to show that you can have a female protagonist and not push political views every couple of minutes
Shirow turns out didn't do it for female protagonists or equality, he just liked drawing titties.
James Ramirez
(you are not figure)
Samuel Robinson
>this upcoming weekend is the real last huge push for every country I hope you are right I want Alita to stay one more week in the cinema
Ryder Reyes
We'll never get a decent Gunsmith Cats movie, though. It's really something Hollywood could technically do, but Minnie May as a character would make America's collective head explode.
That's what nearly every young newcomer had for motivation in the industry.
John Moore
So is there serious hope for more actually good anime adaptations or is this just a fluke because it happened to have Jim Cameron attached to it?
Anthony Hernandez
It could happen. The identity politics feedback loop is about to collapse in hollywood.
Ryder Howard
really depends on the source material
Doug Liman had mostly made mediocre stuff up till he made Edge of Tomorrow
Jackson Diaz
I would say no hope, this was Jim's dream project of 20 years. No one else can devote that kind of time or effort.
Joseph Mitchell
kishiro seemed to like the tech porn more than the actual porn though.
Parker King
a noble cause
Gabriel Fisher
The thing is B films kinda already do the kind of shit anime does.
Jason Garcia
You're an idiot. This isn't boyhood. He cranked out his treatment in an obsessive frenzy and shelved it until the movie entered production.
Kayden Hill
Whatever gets you to meet your deadlines, man.
Jose Foster
but poorly.
Jonathan Lopez
Different craft, same cheese/shlock.
Gabriel Kelly
kishiro is a pedo
Xavier Perez
Might be something like this. Avoiding the big titles like AKIRA or Cowboy Bebop, it might work in everyone's favor to do a lesser anime you're passionate about.
Brody Cox
The reason anime is popular is because whatever it does, it'll do well. Even if all it wants to do is pander.
This is why anime adaptations always fail.
Logan Martinez
Well Japan...
Aaron Gomez
The high price of Hollywood put those kinds of films out of business.
We will continue to #100 just to see you eating the DVDs as promised. Don't chicken out now.
Nicholas Reyes
He said bluray
Easton Davis
Also adapt titles that can't be accused of white washing. AKIRA is fucking impossible in this regard, it's directly tied to the idea of nuclear weapons fear in Japan and everyone is a black-haired Japanese. Adapting that is butchering it.
Maybe something like Birdy the Mighty.
Jaxson Sullivan
They're shills alright, but they do it for free
Dominic Scott
I've always lent it to their histories, Japan has had a more experimental animation era which really attracted aspiring artists to try to make their mark, while in America the attraction was more of the live-action actors competing and making it big in their respective films.
Julian King
Better plan: ignore twitter. GitS didn't fail because twitter lost shit, it failed because it was garbage.
Jason Anderson
The movie implied that martian females genetically got kawaii uguu eyes. I read somewhere that scientist theorise that the 1/3 gravity of Mars will surely fucked something in humankind genetics.
Levi Torres
Back to
Logan Sanchez
What I got from the film is that Martians have a technocracy to which they have brains but are outfitted into robotic chassis hence why Alita has an "organic brain" but nothing else. Why they are designed like dolls I do not know. At least she doesn't have that octopus lips.
Adam Cooper
All the Martians are the same beserker model, though. Their eyes are electronic.
I seriously doubt that would be the right call to adapt in CGI given that her large thick lips actually get called out on by people. Instead, you get the big eyes!
Jeremiah Long

Alita!

I know and it's a fair trade off to be sure but I just found your comment strange.

There's a new one but it's not a general in the title, the OP fucked it up.
