I encourage you to read Armond White's reviews. People with a superficial grasp of his reviews think he's just being contrarian for contrarianism's sake. He's not. There is method in his madness. He's a truly conservative film critic operating in a sea of liberalism. What he's doing is essentially performance art - interpreting films in ways that align with his personal politics, then applying his bias filters by that metric. In doing this, he's calling attention to what the overwhelming majority of critics do - judge films based on politics and message, not artistic merit. By doing that, they're not being honest film critics, just agenda-pushing closet activists.
