Reminder to the lurkers. Yea Forums DOES NOT like this pleb trash the cycle is never wrong >plebs come to Yea Forums to talk about it and spew their optimistic and positive opinions about it >the patrician regular posters either wait for for the rip or are in the minority >the plebs leave because they have other boards to shitpost on >all that's left are the regular Yea Forums posters >they usually hate it since movies like this tend to be shit

I watched it again sunday and I won't lie, this scene made me incredibly angry. Like wtf man, i'm not even into waifus the envy I had towards hugo was intense.
Parker Butler
>Really? I thought they got even more close in the movie. >the part where she goes after him and finds out he lost his memories >they never meet again after that
Am I the only one that was shocked they showed her without clothes in essentially an underage body at the beginning?
Yeah it's robot shit, but lots of people are in to that and she was basically naked spreading her legs above her head and shit I got so fucking hard like omg
Wyatt Brown
To be fair, Ido is less authoritarian in here than he is in the manga about sheltering Alita. In here, he understands the predicament she's facing without being too confrontational like how a cool dad would with a lack of a mother figure.
Blake Green
And ? Who are you to judge him ?
Owen Jenkins
>shocked >I got so fucking hard like omg Get your shits together user.
Easton Johnson
It's honestly not fucking fair. Cameron created the highest grade waifu. He needs to answer for his crimes, especially if we dont get at least 2 sequels.
Well there's nothing really to show, so it doesn't really count as nudity. Nudity implies something is there to see, aside from her gorgeous body of course. It doesn'tcount.
Charles Gomez
You're not surprised at the other scenes where they showcased Chiren's excised brain and eyes? This film is chock full of body horrors.
Parker Jenkins
>I'll make the most expensive waifu of them all and nobody can stop me!
Juan Powell
Yeah, Ido was a little more caring. Like, he didn't want her to get herself involved with violence and keep up her pretty image in the manga, but in the movie, he wanted her to have a fresh start in life. I think there was more emotional connective tissue in that aspect.
I've seen it 6 times and I made this timeline to try and determine the amount of time that passes in the movie. It seems that it may have occurred over 5 or 6 days. I have a more detailed version but this one is succinct. Please point out any errors.
Day 1 Tastes orange
Night 1 Sees Ido's wounded arm
Day 2 Says oranges are her favorite food as of yesterday (Day 1)
Night 2 Has dinner and asks Ido about his wounded arm
Night X2 (unknown if days have elapsed since Night 2 above) Fights Cyborgs with Ido Grewishka breaks into Vector's house Finds that there is no marker for Grewishka Request to become Hunter-Warrior is refused by Ido Goes to Motorball match with Hugo Hugo asks to meet her the next day Hugo jacks Kinuba's grind cutters
Day X3 (directly follows above) Finds Berserker body in URM ship
Night X3 (directly follows above) Becomes Hunter-Warrior Fights Zapan and upgraded Grewishka Is unconscious and united with berserker body by Ido Meets with Hugo and has kiss
Night X3? Grewishka, injured from previous fight, smashes equipment in Vector's lab (must follow soon after Night X3 above or possibly even before since she had time to be given new body, recover, awaken, and meet with Hugo) Vector drinks with Hugo
Day X4 Surprises hungover Hugo Accepts proposal to become motorball player Is observed by Zapan
Night X5 (unknown if days have elapsed since Day X4 above) Participates in motorball tryout Rescues Hugo from Zapan
Day X6 (unknown if days have elapsed since Night X5 above) Hugo recovers from cyborg operation Kills Grewishka and Vector Hugo climbs supply tube to Zalem and dies
5 months later Becomes successful motorball player
Jackson Wilson
Absolute champion, keep up the work in exposing that loser user
The way the movie ends zooming into Alita’s eye with the swelling orchestra and then smash cutting to the end titles with Swan Song’s electronic drop is kino, especially when the string motif and the motorball stadium-like chanting kicks in.
Aaron Cook
>already made more ww than Blade Runner 2049
Edge of Tomorrow you're the next
And McTeague better be in the sequel
Isaac Hall
Agreed, leaves you feeling absolutely pumped for more
Isaac Anderson
That's kind of the point. Its like the opening of Ghost in the Shell where you see the Major's body go from metal wires to skin and its asking you to question why you feel shame at an obviously fake body.
Ryan Rogers
Seriously, how did Jim got the eyes so right? We all thought it was retarded in the trailer, but it turned out to be one of the best designs choices.
>that whole sequence with her slowly realizing that everyone is out to get her in the track while Ido warns her about all of them.
Cooper Flores
Night X3 is actually two separate nights.
Night X3 Becomes Hunter-Warrior Fights Zapan and upgraded Grewishka
Day X4 Is unconscious and united with berserker body by Ido
Night X4 Meets with Hugo and has kiss Grewishka, injured from previous fight, smashes equipment in Vector's lab (must follow soon after Night X3 above or possibly even before since she had time to be given new body, recover, awaken, and meet with Hugo) Vector drinks with Hugo
Day X5 Surprises hungover Hugo Accepts proposal to become motorball player Is observed by Zapan
Night X6 (unknown if days have elapsed since Day X5 above) Participates in motorball tryout Rescues Hugo from Zapan
Day X7 (unknown if days have elapsed since Night X6 above) Hugo recovers from cyborg operation Kills Grewishka and Vector Hugo climbs supply tube to Zalem and dies
Christian Wood
How long are you Twitter spics gonna keep this up for
Julian Wilson
McTeague seemed cool as fuck... cyborg cowboy. Too bad guns are outlawed because I could see with two big ass revolvers on his hip
Joseph Taylor
I think at least a day passes between her fighting in the alley and going to the motorball match, unless the match happened in the very early morning. Same for between her losing her original body, getting repaired, and kissing Hugo; I don’t think it’d take that quick for her to recover plus it’s a little silly if Hugo watches her get torn apart and then immediately in the same night she returns all healed up and kisses him.
Angel Hill
Until you go away. So it might be quite a while.
Jaxon Peterson

I didn't think they'd go for beheading Yugo due to the rating but by god they did it.
Joshua Brooks
It actually is going to beat Edge of Tomorrow and very possibly Pacific Rim. Cool.
Isaiah Carter
>To the town of Scrap Iron City rode a stranger one fine day
Christopher Rodriguez
I thought she was going to dismiss Ido’s warning, or maybe take it seriously and immediately try to hightail it out of there. Instead she slowly sizes them up and then prepares to take them all on. Great way to build excitement for the fight about to break out..
The problem is that it means Grewishka didn't go trash Vector's lab for at least a day or more (unless the lab trashing scene is out of order chronologically).
John Jackson
>dislike Hugo on first viewing >realize how essential he is on second viewing >actually start to like his character and how he's set up to fall on third viewing
Adam Wright
Yes, but the first arc is only slightly better than the movie, so don't drop it until the motorball part. It develops into a more action packed GITS kind of manga.
yes it's still running, the current theme is lolis, war crimes and cancer
Dominic Hill
reroll
Jonathan Bell
I'm quite confident we can get to #1000 if we want to. I know an example or two.
Leo Davis
Night X3 is where there's a problem because I think Grewishka went to trash Vector's lab right after the battle and it seems like Vector drinks with Hugo that night, after his kiss with Alita. So all of the Alita berserker body and Hugo kiss stuff had to happen before the sun came up.
Doesn't look like it was updated. Seems to be the same at 264 million worldwide. Each weekend, it's gone up 100 million in the foreign side. It now just has to do it 1.5x more by the end and we're fucking set.
You really dont. You just keep going til its pulled from theaters.
and then you torrent a shitty camrip to hold you over until the bluray drops
The Bluray is meant to release in May, I'm hoping that it stays in theatres until then or at least close to then so there's only a small window where I can't get my Alita fix
Maybe he sat in the sewers in agony licking his wounds and brooding on his failure until he finally went to vector’s labs. It’s not like he got a second upgrade or anything, so I don’t think he was in a rush, he just didn’t know what to do.
Jacob Robinson
weapons grade lethal-waifu
Wyatt Flores
I say another 150 million be the most ideal, which is entirely possible. If China alone gives it another 100 million, which it actually looks like it's on track to do, victory!
Yea Forums sucks I can't believe the shilling here for this crap. RT critics were right for once in the history of the universe this movie was mediocre as best.
I love Alita as much as the next user here, but it ain't making it through the first week in March for most theaters. That is of course when Captain Marvel drops and no way they're gonna let theaters be used for Alita instead of the next big Marvel flick.
So get your views in now while you still can.
Liam Price
>RT critics were right That's not happening, mate. Like, ever.
this user understands. His character serves a purpose. He is what young girls think is hot and isn't a perfect guy which forces her to mature a little.
Anthony Flores
That's just the thing though, it's been out since the 14th, and CM drops on the 8th, so that's nearly a month already. Maybe a week (or two tops) before it's mostly pulled. And like I said I'm not trying to be a debbie downer here, I just dont want you or anyone else to overestimate how much time we might have to get all the views you want in.
Japan has pretty shit taste in movies, sadly China is our last hope.
Logan Barnes
still mad this had better walking tanks than gits
Landon Clark
so, did we do good enough to warrant a sequel?
James Ward
Would probably be a wise move to keep it in their theaters for a little while more alongside Captain Manvil as the normal sane people realize what a piece of dreck it is and decide to check out Alita instead since they're side by side.
Caleb White
Oh, I agree. I think this week and upcoming weekend is the last real huge push to get this film over 410+ million worldwide, and for most main theaters to house the film. In two weeks, Alita will lose about a thousand theaters.
Henry Watson
5 here. that face, fucking kill me
Ethan Rodriguez
not yet, but pacrim got one so who knows
Asher Roberts
I'm debating whether or not I should keep watching after Thursday, which seems to be the last day that it will be in IMAX in Canada. I will probably want to see it again but I'm not sure I want my last memory of the movie to be in regular 3D and not in IMAX. I also don't know if I'll even watch it on Bluray because the movie just looks bad on the small screen. Every trailer I see on my computer looks like shit. It might be best to see the movie in its most perfect form and then never again. All I know is that Thursday is going to be fucking rough.
William Clark
I'm broke so 3 times is the most I could do. Also one was in (true) IMAX 3D that shit was 25 bucks
Logan Morgan
He has three significantly different appearances in the movie. The first form is distinctive for the rounded plates on the upper torso (appearing like large muscles) and with tribal tattoos on the right side. The second form in Kansas bar has more exposed exoskeleton and the chest armor is angular but retains some tribal tattoo on the right side. The final form, built after the lab trashing and seen during the battle in Vector's office is even more angular and seems like an homage to Caine (AKA Robocop 2) and I don't think it has any tattoos on the chest.
Nathaniel Foster
BTFO!
Oliver Morgan
Worse things got a sequel while this one needs it. Also based Jim spending millions just to create a waifu with big eyes.
Henry Green
China numbers are not in yet, but apparently, Japan didn't have as much of a big opening as expected
I used to really think this movie was gonna be trash, i had zero interest in it. But the more I saw Alita, with her big stupid eyes, the less stupid those eyes became. The more i saw her, the more I wanted to see of her. And once i saw the movie..well...can a human love a cyborg? Yes.
I love you alita.
Aaron Collins
So did Divergent and it's sequel. China did 65 million in it's opening weekend. It also just made 7 million on Monday.
Juan Ramirez
dude, alita is pretty cute
Connor Torres
My local cinema has 16 screens. Alita is the only other effects-heavy blockbuster in theaters from now until Avengers in April. As far as epic spectacle goes, Dumbo and Shazam cannot compare, neither can Captain Marvel for that matter. If attendance is consistent, theaters will keep Alita and Cp Marvel playing at the same time because everything else is horror films and cartoons for the next few months.
Avatar was viewed as a flop the first weekend it came out, but it was the only epic action movie people could watch and word of mouth got people coming to see what the hype was about for months afterwards. Alita won’t make a billion but it has potential to exceed expectations.
Through some complicated mental math that is beyond the ability of this imageboard to display, I'm concerned about the exponential decay rate in both the box office and the activity and quality of these threads. More OC alita bros and sis'!
Gabriel Harris
It's better than Ready Player One's numbers, and right now, it's tracking alongside it for the week ahead.
Sebastian Stewart
I'm at 6 times, gonna go again tomorrow or Wednesday. I have never seen a movie this many times in such a short span before, not even The Dark Knight back in the day. I'll go see it in theaters until I can't anymore. I downloaded a decent rip but it feels wrong watching it that way
That's because it opened and is competing with some very popular Japanese movie that goes over better with their general audience compared to this movie based on a niche manga. It's also competing with some other movies including Into Spiderverse and fucking Aquaman. That all said, it came out at a strong number 2 in Japan, which surprised most Japanese.
Go onto twitter and search for Alita in Japanese (アリータ) and use a bit of google translate and you'll see mostly glowing praise and love for the movie.
Something I can't believe about this movie is that although alot of the dialogue is really hokey, it's delivered really well by the actors. I credit Robert Rodriguez for this. Jackie Earle Haley's Grewishka performance is positively Shakespearean and his dialogue is the most anime-esque and over-the-top.
Owen Parker
fair, im waiting on those mojo numbers, since those are the ones people in the industry tell me are the most truthful
Ethan Edwards
Ironically in large part because of Cameron and his announcement back in 2003 about his intentions to adapt it.
Jayden Young
>Cameron wants us to feel about Alita the same way Ido does, which is the purest love in the universe
Yeah no shit but I cant jack off in peace in theaters
Ayden Moore
Forgot to mention, as I went today on my fifth viewing, the cashier asked me some stuff.
>"hey, have you seem this movie before?" (I knew it, they were indeed counting the times I went in there) >"Yeah, it is my fifth time already Hahahah" >"It is good right?? Everytime you watch it you see a little detail that you missed previously" >"Yeah, it is pretty good, never thought I would want to watch it this much"
I thought about talking to her about ALITA but I guess that would be too much. Just a warning anons, they know.
just be like "you know, every time I see you I realize there's a beautiful detail about you that I missed"
then have your falcon pass her a note asking if she'll go on a date with you
Robert Howard
Spider-Verse is still playing near me, it’s global total so far is $360 million and it came out December 14th. Theaters will make room for Captain Marvel by dropping other films, but they will drop flicks like Miss Bala and Cold Pursuit first.
Kayden Young
same reason they wear faces
Nicholas Peterson
It isn't hokey, user. It just isn't stuffed to the gills with Marvel's ironic quips.
20 years from now, kids will laugh at the dialogue of the current movies.
Henry Lee
"I will take on anyone in this room."
Her complete confidence when she says that is great
Hudson Nelson
She is like 45 or something like that, and not the cute type of milf.
My favorite is still "I will not stand by in the presence of evil." I love how perfectly cheesy and sincere Alita says those words. I love how we hear her think it before she says it out loud.
Seriously, how do I stop? I'm poor and have almost no disposable income but I keep going to this fucking movie. It isn't even waifufaggotry, I just love everything about the movie. Every character, every line of dialogue, every scene is just so fucking well crafted.
Aiden Barnes
Alita would want you to stop spending money you don't have.
Jeremiah Sanders
>I have never seen a movie this many times in such a short span before I would've seen BR2049 when it was out maybe 2-3 times but I've seen this 5 times in less than a week and am contemplating going again tomorrow after work. It's insane how addicting this movie is. Really wish it were longer.
Hudson Jackson
Alita will give you the money. She can make that in bounties, she'll just find out which ones have the biggest price on their heads and take them out
Watch some old movies like Smokey and the Bandit and My Fair Lady
Levi Mitchell
Either that... or just rob a few cripples of their prosthetics. ; )
Brody Rogers
I'm hoping for an extended director's cut
Robert Hall
this is why I've spaced it out at multiple kinoplexes. Sounds like she wasn't weirded out though if she initiated conversation. Talk to her on the sixth time.
Why? She'd do whatever she had to for you. She'd give you whatever she had.
...she would give you her heart.
Christian Jackson
>You wouldn't fuck me if my male brain was in a cute female body.
Luke Morgan
I was fucking shocked when I found out I was only in the theater for less than 2 hours. The movie had much more content and better pacing than a 3 hour Star Wars movie. Every character has an arc and completes it, almost all the backstory is explained and scenes are properly set up by previous ones. The script is so tight and efficient yet it never felt to me like the movie was skimping out. They definitely could have fit another half hour in there if they wanted to.
I can't ask her to do that.

Eli Thomas
You clearly have little familiarity with Yea Forums, user.
Daniel Lewis
He says "flea" too many times for my liking, but otherwise he was good.
Eli Richardson
>A foundational book illuminating the phenomenon of cool Japan, Beautiful Fighting Girl explains the global desire for images of little girls that kick ass. Saitō’s uncomfortably deep understanding of the particulars of this Japanese phenomenon allows us to finally begin to answer questions about the far-reaching implications of the now nearly universal fetish, of our atomizing technologies of interactivity, and of our obsessions with new media. Its place in contemporary letters is nearly unparalleled and I wouldn’t be surprised if this book gives that once a decade jostle leading to the n-th wave of feminism or a complete reconfiguration of our understanding of male desire.
Daniel Jackson
Thanks. It seems it is just what I was looking for
Leo Cruz
I wouldn't fuck you but I'd take care of you. Same thing goes for Alita.
Nicholas Johnson
>You wouldn't fuck me if my male brain was in a cute female body
Jesus christ the fucking power level of these threads, never seen any general bump so fast. Am proud to be a part of this
Luke Reed
me too, including copious behind the scenes stuff with Cam/RR and qt Rosa. I don't want to neglect RR but I'm attributing that tightness with that classic Cameron tight pacing. That's why this movie is great for rewatch (why all of his movies are) because initially it's a lot to soak in. But the more you see it the more you focus on different things and it just gets more involved. Like I said, I wish it were longer. I could've easily watched the same movie just spaced out longer with maybe more motorball/Alita learning about the world.
Jonathan Sanders

Amazing that such literature actually exists, though not surprising given the times we live. It must be a necessary writing.
Added to my shopping list.

This entire day I've been asking myself why I'm not just watching Alita again.
Chase Wright
unironically yes
Cameron Morris
yes but only if you headcanon that the Na'vi are actually xenos destined to be purged and the humans are just doing as the God-Emperor demands. Jake Sully has committed a crime worse than all others. Heresy. If you can, enjoy!
Grayson Perez
No its not worth it T. Only saw it once in 2009
Julian King
What if Alita was your mommy?
Nolan Murphy
>i shill alita but don't watch actual films kek this fucking guy i swear
I can't read whatever that is, does it explain how Ido took on skilled, agile cyborgs with an unwieldy hammer? Why did the other hunter-killers let him risk his life when Ido gave them free repairs? It'd be like the police department letting the only doctor in town patrol the bad part of town alone.
Gavin Turner
That is true, no shame in loving ALITA.
Yeah, I look pretty normal and I am usually mistaken for a chad given how well I can hide my power level with conversation, so I guess it was fine, might go one last time on wednesday, that is when the viewings are over in my city.
Well, I could, but the movie was almost starting and I had to go up the stairs, maybe on my sixth viewing.
You see in the movie that his plan for taking out the organ harvesters was to wait around a corner and ambush them with a rocket hammer to the face. And what are the Hunter-Warriors going to do to Ido? Force him to not go after Alita? As that one guy said, its out of their jurisdiction. They aren't going to cage Ido and force him to repair them.
Dominic Thompson
I'm unironically considering seeing it for a third time. I haven't done that since Spider-Man Homecoming
same. Maybe it's because of coinciding a bit with being 28 and feeling ready for a family I guess but the most 'fanservicey' moment of her is getting dragged by that chain and we get that very brief butt shot. But honestly the rest of the movie it was just totally non-sexual for me.
I'm going to number 4 tomorrow. Do it. It won't make you want to stop seeing the movie though.
William Sanchez
I guess he was just stronger than we saw? If alita hadn't stopped him its implied that his ambush would have actually worked and he would have killed them
Isaiah Edwards
>since Spider-Man Homecoming yikes, that movie was average at best
I'm on number 6 and I've wanted to watch it again all day long
Angel Cruz
Gonna go on Friday once my block of classes is finished. It'll still be in IMAX then, so I'll go to that. It's an IMAX 3D theater...should be neat.
Chase White
No? The only thing I raised an eyebrow at was her gymnast posing in her new URM body, which was slightly suggestive, but even then that's extremely tame.
You seem like a huge prude.
Nicholas Garcia
What it with the absolute tasteless counting how many times they've seen something?
With his work I mean that he's doing bounties so that he can keep his clinic open. The same clinic patching up all the other bounty hunters. If I was a bounty hunter, I wouldn't want the guy sewing up my neck be out there risking his own. If Ido is sniping bounties other hunters would've gotten, it's much more prudent for them all to chip in what's needed for him to keep his clinic running. Basically and literally insurance.
Xavier Reed
>I'm unironically considering seeing it for a third time. >I haven't done that since Spider-Man Homecoming >Spider-Man Homecoming the absolute state of this shitty general kys fucking newfags, plebs and normies
I've spent the last 3 hours after getting home from work in these threads because there is nothing else fulfilling to me other than talking and thinking about Alita.
Evan Jones
Do it, it's absolutely worth it user. Ignore the haters, there's a reason Alita is worth rewatching this many times
Hunters work solo. You're basically saying that you'd be willing to pay for Ido's services.
Christopher Murphy
>>> Painfully overrated, user.

tbf it was noted in the bar scene that bounty hunters are only ever begrudging colleagues and REALLY don't like collective action so it's not super surprising that they don't want to make the smart move since it's against their traditions

Yes I would rather chip in something than have the guy who patches me up for free go risk his life doing something so dangerous that it's basically left to advanced cyborgs. Ido would die in short order and then I'd have to actually pay for what his services were worth elsewhere. He's a useful volunteer charity worker, makes no sense to let him risk his life like that.
William Cook
I loved Alita, but I think either Abatap has unironically returned, or someone's trying to force and Avatar-esque obsession on the board. Or, it's simply untold samefagging, which with that poster count, I'm starting to believe.
Grayson Barnes
I just saw the film. Loved it. But I have to wonder why it seems so unpopular with critics. I'd have thought with Cameron leading the helm, people would be all over this.
>is a brutal killing machine when fighting and has a built in tendency to start conflict wherever she goes, her fucking model is called "berserker" >turns into the cutest little thing when she is near Hugo, wanting to be spoiled and pampered like a princess
THIS REALLY FUCKS ME UP, WHY DOES THIS MAKE HER SO CUTE BROS????
That one is cheap(ish). You could entirely save up for it super easily as it won't come out until October-December. That's like 7-9 months you have to scrape up $251. I'm extremely tempted too, but the face is what's holding me back. It's not nearly as "cute" as the movie one, the neoteny isn't there as much. I guess that's the limitation of plastic, but still.
Adam Miller
The current trend is strong women = hating pathetic men. Alita was a strong woman in a realistic setting with complex emotions. Ironically she wasn't a self sufficient robot who don't need no man. And they can't stand that.
Gavin Morris
>he says as he praises tranny propganada and spider twink homocumming
Colton King
I can afford it, I just have other things I need to pay off/save for and Alita-fevre-dreams got me fucked up.
It's great, despite (or because of) its weirdness. Gorgeous cinematics. Very 90s. Critics don't get it.

He fights with his brains. As we see he doesn't like to fight fair, preferring to ambush and strike first. In the fight we see though he is probably distracted with the knowledge that it's 3v1 (in his eyes) and that Alita was just captured. I buy his backstory that he's a guy who doesn't have a ton to live for and so doesn't mind being reckless. But that goes out the window a bit now that he has Alita, I'm surprised he'd go out the night after she wakes up and potentially die. Because he has his kinda-daughter back.
Anthony Rivera
Didn't know that was a thing, thanks user.
Nicholas Thompson
8 for me. I don't get it. I'm getting sick and numb after watching it so much...but then I go and watch it again. What is this weaponized waifuism that Cameron has perfected. At the rate I'm going to see Alita in theaters, my wallet is going to be sucked dry by the end of next month.
Justin Collins
This actually looks like it would be interesting to watch. If only I understood Japanese.
Levi Mitchell
Cameron had a huge boner for the source material and tried to be faithful to it, while also blending it with established American genre conventions. The result is something off beat, not quite expected. Yet it doesn't have any of the leeway for such oddness granted to an auteur film since it's unabashedly a big blockbuster production.
Also, because the movie is both adapted from a Japanese source and is also from the 1990s, it's tone deaf to modern social issues. It is decidedly "off-message" on popular topics of the day, like inequality, feminism, race relations, etc. It basically offers critics nothing to segue into politics.
