Before people criticise me for copying shit, my goal is to take the best elements of all the seasons and work them together:

>old cop, obsessed with a string of seemingly unconnected murders during his younger days that remain unsolved, each victim was a different sex, age, race
>murders happened in 1968
>1998 retired cop spends his time alone running some shitty website filled with his clues and theories
>young local college student takes an interest in the case due to some criminology paper and emails cop
>a back and forth conversation ensues
>student decides to meet with cop

>student now illegally investigating the case and reporting back to the old cop, finding missing and long lost clues and shit, finds a connection to some organised drug dealers who operate today
>the big reveal slowly is that this ideological group of druggies run by a messianic figure have some Jonestown-esque ranch where they produce drugs and have been doing so for fifty years
>one of the highlights of the ranch is a hotel room where rich people pay to take a cocktail of drugs and murder someone of any specified race/sex/age
>young protagonist gets kidnapped and forced into this drug running cult
>old detective has to get his guns out and literally save this think student from fucking Jonestown 2.0 using very careful and precise tactics due to his age

like true detective with jumping timelines but the twist is that it flashes back to previous reincarnations. The cat and mouse game is between a pair of detectives/serial killers that keep reincarnating until the detective can banish the killer to Scotland Yard

Jared Leto and Ron Perlman investigate a sex trafficking ring. Perlman loses his mind halfway through the series and Jared Leto is there. Takes place in some hick midwestern or southern state that nobody cares about.

Willem Dafoe as a detective in Southern Texas sent to investigate the recent violence at the border. Someone badass as top ICE dude/becomes his partner. Elites pass through often, no records of condos/houses in Mexico, no real reason for going. Reports of kids going missing from ICE detainment plant nearby even though Dafoe and ICE dude saw some of these kids. Medical bills and immigration is being paid for these mothers with missing kids.

Climax is when they follow an elite into Mexico and stumble on a big pizza gate party. Ice agent betrays detective but he leaks it. Texas/USA and Mexican government deny claims. Leaked footage shows dead kids and stuff like that. Guilt eats ICE agent due to recurring run ins with these images, and he spills the beans knowing he would go to jail as well. Newspaper of Marty blows by before end credits.

Dafoe's character is said to stare into your soul. When he knows the perp is lying he maniacally laughs which usually shakes em. He likes kicking ass.

Ice agent is by the books and sure in every thing he does. Quotes laws. Well dressed, seems to have more money than he makes. "have you heard of bitcoins?"

it's the damn 80s again. dominic west is the cheery cop and russell crowe is the cynical one.

some child goes missing, of course. they begin to ask around. relatives, neighbours. news clips about "satanic panic" play on tv. a cheesy youth pastor wearing a hawaiian shirt who may harbor dark secrets will be one of the suspects. jack chick comics will be featured.

episode 3 there's a cute androgynous junkie girl, fried out of her mind, weird physical tics, switching personalities. rambling about underground facilities and some place "over the rainbow" and the wicked witch of the east.

there will be one or two beach boys songs in the soundtrack.

at one point the detectives interrogate a psychiatrist. it will turn out he is the guy who invented the "multiple personality disorder" category in the dsm to whitewash the mk-ultra test subjects popping up everywhere. (he will turn out to be a satanist, of course.)

they interrogate an evangelical deliverance minister, late thirties. he tried exorcising the girl. maybe there's an exorcism scene, but very low key, shot like a documentary, no tacky theatrics. but maybe some light telekinesis. the detectives are present.

one of the detectives is well-read. quotes chesterton, kierkegaard, barth. begins to doubt the philosophical materialism of our age when confronted with this stuff. quips in the car that "i'm starting to think it might all be real. God and gods and demons and the rest of it."

(maybe the 70s CIA experiments with telekinesis and remote viewing will be brought up.)

brief scenes in a castle in liechtenstein with some old rothschild guy. they will be like the scene with the dwarf making the phone call in mulholland drive.

in the end it's like rosemary's baby and everyone turns out to be a satanist (except for the few good guys). but the exorcism on the mk-ultra girl works. we see her restored to dignity, living happily with her family. and mcnulty accepts jesus into his heart.
