That episode kind of scarred me. There was something about a vicious killer suddenly cry like a child for his mother that really unnerved me.

Jupiter Jazz and Ganymede Elegy are the best for me. The whole series is fantastic but those three episodes really do a great job of communicating the atmosphere of the moons they're set on as well as the melancholy of the series in general.

I just finished rewatching the whole series and I was blown away at the difference I saw in it now that I'm an adult compared to watching it as a teen. Black Dog Serenade, and all the parts with Jet in general were the best.

I cried a couple of times, even after all these years. This show is just so hard to beat.

Yep, nothing builds the world better than Mushroom Samba and Speak Like Child. You actually get a feel for what this post-crisis/post-Earth setting has become in a way that feels real and lived in.

Also Toys in the Attic is pure kino.

There were so many dynamic shots and they lovingly show you every square inch of the Bebop throughout the whole show, all without it feeling forced or played out. I wish I could showcase the objects in my space opera setting as masterfully as Cowboy has.

I know what you mean. I just finished Bebop, and now I'm starting Trigun over (only seen beginning and part of the end before) and holy hell what a difference in tone. I am getting through it OK, but I really miss Bebop.

Don't get me wrong. I liked Trigun all those years ago and it's still entertaining in small bursts. But I cannot marathon all of Trigun like I can Bebop. Trigun's characterizations are shallower and more cliched. It has sudden mood whiplashes that come off as melodramatic rather than poignant when I know that's what it was going for.

I love the world of Trigun though. A vidya in its planet would be neat.

That church scene is one of the most kino scenes in anime. It was the first episode of the series I ever saw, 4 am before a trip to Singapore.

I normally listen to sub, but just rewatched Bebop in English with a friend. It's really not that bad, Spike, Faye, and Edward are good. Jet is meh. It's not 10/10, the worst I would rate it for English dub is 7/10.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. I can handle everything fine if it is given room to breath, but they cram that tone reversal in there all the god damn time, and it is so jarring.

It was just mediocre when compared to everyone else. The others had emotion in their voice, and Jet's emotion felt forced. He basically just had a bland unmemorable voice actor
