in the end gally is more hardcore than the average 80s action movie hero

Threadly reminder that Alita needs $350 million to break even. There's no way that it will make the $400 million, let alone the $500 million needed to make their money back. I strongly doubt Alita will make the $800 million required from China over this week, because $1.2 billion is just not possible. Alita fans are just kidding themselves at this point, $2 billion just isn't going to be reached. A sequel would need at least $10 billion, and that's barely making profit.
Why was there such a fucking outrage on her body when even after she ''transformed'' she wasn't this super voluptuous woman, but still looking like a 14 year old? There wasn't THAT much of a difference in her before and after

Call me a retard, but I've been calling her Aliya for a while
But it's specifically AFTER she transformed and that they explained ''she's forming her body to her own perfect image of herself'' that's caused ruckus

I need some help. I just finished reading last order 129, which is apparently the last chapter of the serie. However it says there's a sequel at the end.
What are they talking about? what is it? Where can I find it?
oh shit, I always thought it was a prequel. Thanks.

would tarantino be a relatively decent fit for a jojo adaptation? I get the feeling that his dialogue is similar to the obscure factoids and quirks araki keeps throwing into his dialogue

Just quickly looking at Box Office Mojo, it looks like it's doing really well overseas. It hasn't even opened in China or Japan which are likely to be some of its biggest markets. Japan especially. South Korea alone brought in $14-15mm. I think there's a good chance it's going to land somewhere between $400-500mm before its done. Tough to say if that would justify a sequel but I think it might.
>Why was there such a fucking outrage on her body when even after she ''transformed There wasn't. Twitter doesn't = the real world. It takes no energy to just click a tweet or "agree" with some bullshit opinion online. No one actually cares about that.
Adrian Cox
If it gets a sequel who is going to direct it?
Aaron Cooper
The "outrage" just shows that these kinds of people have zero self awareness about their own message they are trying to get across.
Alita herself had an image of herself in her mind and her body adapted to suit what she felt comfortable in. No one else was involved in how she looked, it was her choice. But where have we heard about people who's body doesn't belong to how they see themselves in their mind?
Jonathan Evans
I don't think Tarantino could do a story that reliant on special effects. Let him adapt Sanctuary or something, give it his own spin.
>hasn't even opened in China or Japan user, that happened Friday. It's now Monday.
Isaac Long
Or Black Lagoon. Let Tarantino do Black Lagoon.
Jordan Hughes
I want to buy more tickets but I don't feel like watching it again.
Alexander James
I'm going to fly to China so I can buy tickets to Alita there too!
Joseph Moore
Nope. It opened in China this weekend to $65M, which isn't bad but isn't nearly enough to save the film. In theory China would give studios that same average 50% revenue they get in America, but it ends up being closer to 25% in reality. The rest of it just gets swallowed up. So Alita made about $16M from China only...
Jaxon Wright
You're right. It's just not in BOM yet. It made $62mm in China. Can't find the Japan box office yet.
That should bring it over the $300mm mark in the first 2 weeks which is pretty good.
Brayden Cooper
Critics will love the sequel. Why has Marvel been so high praised? Because the critics can read the source material and then they don't have to come up with original analyses, they can just compare it to the source material. Which may end up being a problem for Alita...
Levi King
Does it even need one now? It already has an anime that's pretty good.
Alita makes its own twist on things and arguably improves on the OVA and brings her healing power to the masses. But while I'd love to see a live action version of Black Lagoon, I'm not sure I'd pick that as the first nippon thing that needs a live action adaption.
Landon Jackson
>Does it even need one No but all of Hiroe's femdom porn needs to be adapted...
Brandon Turner
is there alita porn on the internet?
Levi Carter
Will it reach the 400 million it needs to break even? We're still quite a bit off from the 500 million line of breaking even, and I'm not sure the movie has the legs to reach that 700 million line, with Captain Marvel coming out it probably won't even reach the 800 million it needs to break even...
Jayden Nguyen
no! she's pure!
Joshua Bennett
Surprisingly little. 300-year-old-killing-machine-daughteru is not for lewd.
I think you're assuming they're going to get into the entire unholy resurrected zombie killer with a psycho t-2000 monster body story in the 2nd movie...and you're 100% right. I think they're definitely going to do it anyway. It's Cameron's passion project. I think he's going to fight for it. Besides, that shit's going to be amazing.

1-2 are good, 3-4 are just motorball, 5 is great, 6 is the worst, 7 makes up for 6, about to read the rest. It's all relative, as is sorta correct. You should just read it anyways, for alita. I really don't want an entire movie dedicated to motorball. Motorball really should've just been a single volume, not two. That's why they should skim over it and then do the revenge plot.
I've got a feeling that motorball will only be in the beginning half hour. It will end with her fight with Jashugan, they'll weave the return of Zapan into this early stuff, then take a break after motorball to have Alita explore some other Desty Nova wasteland/hunt Dr. Ito stuff in the middle, and they'll absolutely end the movie with the huge Zapan Berserker fight. Don't know if they'll save the big spoiler for the third or drop in it the second movie.
Spoiler but he hates Alita so much that it just breaks him and to summarise it, Desty Nova gives him the Berserker body but "removes the safety locks" more or less. And what results is the best battle of the original series
Nathaniel James
Thanks for the spoilers Satan!

The face and body are all wrong and so are those horrible tits. 2/10 will not save.
I don't think it matters (greatly). This is Cameron's lovechild and one way or another I think he's going to finish it, even if he has to use his personal funds.
Christopher Lopez
Guaranteed. Busy boomers will watch it during 2-3 more weeks, also word to mouth.
seeing the numbers and the fact that fox keeps advertising it makes me think that it will at least break even. If they thought it was a lost cause they wouldn't bother with marketing.
Nolan Barnes
I don’t think they’ll do this, it’ll kill off all the momentum from the first film where it looks like she’s headed to zalem full of vengeance for Hugo. Instead to confused audiences it’ll look like two hours of filler, set-up for what should have happened rightaway, and conclude with a fight against a villain alita already beat in the first movie.
Oliver Hernandez
B-but Captain Marvel is coming out soon... Alita has one week left tops.
>Captain Marvel Jokes aside. I don't know in the USA, but for most of the world Captain Marvel is a bigger "literally who?" than Alita.

Dylan Hughes

Gavin Gutierrez
I'm more concerned about the sequel. Final of this movie is basically a setup for a big fight and almost nothing else. Major emotional moments already happened. So they'll definetely add something new to motorball arc and to a possible fight with Zapan.
Benjamin Price
This. Alita was kind of mainstream in France in the 90's and to this day nobody cares for bland super captain something #66534 France really likes manga tho
They're douchebags, straight down to saying that mo was the last prophet of god
Blake Jackson
If it means anything, there was an interview with James Cameron who apparently funded the whole movie with a huge ass block of money that Fox gave him to create all the Avatar movies. So the movie is done and paid for and the only thing required for him to make a sequel is to see if there is a fan base that wants it.
Samuel White
They are just mentally ill fanatics obsessed with something, like furries, brownies or /pol/.
They wouldn't need to make her character model from square 1 next time. Plus it looks like some of the Iron City street sets might still be standing at Troublemaker Studios. They won't have to rebuild all that shit.

Of course at our age she will be used goods and will see you as the nice guy that appeared in her life after she had fun with chads, this is the truth.
So far, Alita is tracking very closely alongside Ready Player One in China. Let's hope this weekend fares the same kind of love for the movie and it makes 200 million there total.
John Ramirez
France is at 1.2 million tickets sold, headed for 2 million based frogs

The entertainment news website Deadline reported on Friday that Alita: Battle Angel — James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez's live-action film of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga — earned an equivalent of US$62.3 million in China in its opening weekend, according to Fox's estimates. The website also reported that the film earned the equivalent of US$64.8 million over the weekend according to "local reporting." The figure marks Fox's biggest opening ever in China.
The film earned the equivalent of US$9 million at 603 IMAX screens to make a new record for Fox's IMAX openings in China. The opening also marks the largest IMAX opening ever in China in February.
The film earned an equivalent of US$19.8 million in China in its opening day on Friday, with an additional US$1 million for Thursday night screenings.
The film also opened on 828 screens in Japan on Friday and ranked at #2 at the box office for the weekend. The film sold 212,630 tickets over the three-day weekend to earn 342.66 million yen (about US$3.09 million). The sales include 152,000 tickets for 248 million yen (about US$2.24 million) on Saturday and Sunday. The film is expected to earn a cumulative total of more than 1.5 billion yen (about US$13.5 million) in Japan.
The Box Office Mojo website reported that the film earned an estimated US$12 million at the box office in the United States in its second weekend from Friday to Sunday. The website reported that the film has earned a cumulative total of US$60,681,068 in the United States as of Sunday.
Box Office Mojo reported the film had an opening weekend earning of US$28,525,613. The website reported on February 17 that the film earned an estimated domestic total of US$36.5 in its first four days, with a five-day gross of US$41.7 million. The film ranked #1 in the United States in its opening weekend.

Deadline reported that the film earned an estimated US$92.4 million in 82 international markets over this past weekend, bringing its cumulative international box office total to US$202.7 million. According to Fox's estimates, the film has earned a cumulative total of US$263.3 million worldwide.
The movie has a reported production budget of US$200 million (US$170 million after tax credits). Deadline stated its sources are estimating the film will earn a final total of more than US$400 million worldwide. The site had stated earlier this week that Fox has said the number the film needs to make to break even is US$350-US$400 million, but Deadline added "other finance film sources with knowledge of the budget" state that number at US$500 million or more.
Gavin Wood
You know, now that I think about it, the end of the month is coming up and for most people that's a paycheck day, so it's entirely possible there might be a marginal but noticeable boost in the coming next week/weekend as people who may have put off seeing it waited for some extra cash.

Dude, I was following it 7 years ago, and dropped it when they introduced the vampires. Most people lost interest, "I'll check it later", but that "later" usually never comes. I might re-read everything and finish LO only because the movie happened.

3-D technology used in movie theaters include Imax, RealD 3D and Dolby Digital 3D….Imax is primarily based on film technology, while RealD 3D and Dolby Digital 3D are both digital 3-D formats. In the case of RealD 3D and Dolby Digital 3D, their differences are more technical than visual in nature.
Grayson Ortiz
What would you do to Rosa in this situation? I'd untie her.
I think it was intentional. She knew what she was at that point and tried to fill the role...she fell flat o her face and was laughed at because of inexperience.

Zapan could have been better but Alitas cringy "inspiring" speech was definitely intended. the overwhelming majority of the weeb community is absolute shit that watches every single "cute girls doing cute things"-pedobait trash there is every year and then puts it on a pedestal, pretending like its somehow profound just because no normal person would ever watch the shit
Things to look forward to in the sequel: - Jashugan being a chad - His little sister being cute - Nova having actual screentime - Psycho Zapan - Lots of motorball - A spectacular battle between Zapan in the berserker body and Alita in a civilian body, destroying most of setting of the first movie - Ido.rar - Alita being a cute.

It would be really good. I wonder how they'll adapt the plot, though. In the manga, the Barjack rebels against Zalem, with the help of Nova (who knows they don't stand a chance, but has fun watching them fuck shit up). That's why the Zalemians end up forcing Alita to work for them, so she can capture Nova. In the movie, they'd have to explain why Nova, who lives on Zalem and monitors a ton of thing on the surface, is allowing or even helping guys who want to bring Zalem down.

Breast and fit shaming in NYT.
>If only someone here were joking or had an idea about the construction of femininity. Why does Alita (Rosa Salazar), who has a human brain, even have breasts? Why does any cyborg that isn’t a sex bot or a wet nurse? Genre convention only partly explains the onscreen look of this character, originally created by Yukito Kishiro in his manga series. Kishiro sexes up his cyborg, an amnesiac who in the first comic retains one protuberant breast when the rest of her body is destroyed. This brings to mind Jessica Rabbit, the bodacious femme fatale in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” who purrs “I’m just drawn that way” — yeah, but by whom, for whom and why?

Based on the stuff Cameron chose to put in the script for the first movie, and the fact that he wrote the full run as a trilogy, I'm pretty confident it'll play this way , at least for the 2nd movie. Berserker Zapan is the only logical big fight for the climax of the second movie, and saves the real Big Bad for the finale.
Having Nova start out in Zalem rather than the wastes puts him in the end game. This means that IF there's still going to be a trilogy, he's the logical final big bad now. It makes sense to cut I think they're going to save the Alita copies subplot and the Kaos/Den subplot for the 3rd movie.
I'm seeing the second movie ending with Alita choosing to leave the cold room and be "reborn." ROLL CREDITS Then the 3rd movie opens with Alita is the wastes. She meets Figure while fighting Den's army. Then meets Kaos. Cut Desty Nova in the wastes since he's already in Zalem. Kaos now fills that role. I see the entire Kaos/Den subplot wrapping before the halfway mark and with a final assault on Zalem taking up the last half of the movie.
