Hunter Martin
Yea Forums doom fuckers btfo
Movie was top notch.
China and Japan loved it.
Levi Smith
dude it's a fucking huge take. i thought it would be under a hundred.
it only just opened in china
Cooper Adams
how much does it need to break even?
Luis Foster
It's only just opened in most foreign markets, give it a month it will be over 700 mill
Daniel Cruz
no it didn't lol. it will finish around 425 million and that's being optimistic
Matthew Watson
Fox said 350, media shills are saying 450. Either way, it's pretty much already there.
Angel Sanders
The Chinese like weeb shit
Zachary Hughes
Post yfw you realized that we are officially entering the waifu age
Josiah Fisher
1 trillion billion zillion dollars
Parker Long
>2 weeks
>hasn't broke even yet
People called me crazy when I told them an over-budgeted CGI movie about "strongg womyn slay kween" based on an old obscure manga, whose protagonist looks some awful anime parody, would flop
Cooper Robinson
263 million is not "pretty much already" 450 million
Christopher Robinson
>flop
It didn't flop
It's a great film
Easily one of the best film of the last two decades
It's basically a love letter of Cameron to his waifu Alita
That's based
David Wilson
It had a $170 million budget, and most doom and gloom faggots were saying it'd lose $200 million and turn into a disaster, which is already blatantly false. At worst, it's going to be a break-even film, but at this point it seems more likely that it'll gross enough to guarantee a sequel, just not in the US.
It's also likely to be considered a cult film, just like many other movies that were initially bashed by American critics (Blade Runner and Alien come to mind).
Landon Gray
>how much does it need to break even?
Approx. 3x the production costs, some say even more because the studios get nearly nothing from overseas.
So 170x3 or 170x4 = 680 million worldwide
Cameron Hughes
It's 263 after one weekend in Asia, at worst it's going to score 350 and I trust Fox more than I trust Captain Marvel shills.
Nathan James
Only? This is getting better and better
Parker Turner
it will get to 350 million for sure, but 350 is absolutely not enough for a 170 million budget movie that will make under 100 million domestic.
Kevin Walker
Flopita, get back in the ocean Jim
Andrew Edwards
Okay, so Fox is saying 350, shills who were saying it's gonna lose 200 suddenly pull a 450 out of their asses, and now it's suddenly 680 because 170 x 4 is 680 and 4 is a nice number.
It's a pretty funky pattern I'm seeing here, I guess political hacks pretending to be journalists are getting desperate about Captain Marvel.
Jason Wood
>So 170x3 or 170x4 = 680 million worldwide
2/2
Or in other words: It has to approximately make the budget domestically. So when the domestic gross hits 170 million, they broke even.
Nathan Walker
>BrightBart
Might as well post something from The Daily Wire
David Hughes
People are shifting the posts on you because you shifted them for Star Wars. Yea Forums memed the 4*budget hard when trying to claim that TLJ lost money.
Noah Davis
in Zimbabwe currency
Gavin Harris
Cheap ad hominem attack
You're probably just a triggered SJW
Bentley Wood
I'm not saying any of that nor do I care about captain marvel.
All you have to do is look at ready player one. It's a movie that made some profit, but is never getting a sequel because it ultimately wasn't enough. Alita won't even be close to RPO.
Gabriel Davis
Well, Yea Forums aside, it's pretty funny how the journos seem to be doing exactly that. It's gonna be pretty funny if it lands somewhere between 350 and 450 and gets a sequel, especially since Cameron will probably want to continue this project.
Christopher James
Nathaniel Turner
450 is about the budget time 2.5, which is usually what journos use. As it is a passion project, I think it will get a sequel at break even, if Cameron can convince someone to back it.
Samuel Sullivan
Well, you're probably right at least to some extent since Alita seems to be performing just like RPO. Not sure I agree with your conclusions regarding the sequel though, Cameron has a lot of clout and it's been his pet project for a long time. Also, Alita fans seem to be more passionate about this movie than RPO fans. I honestly believe that the sequel is very likely to happen at this point, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Oliver Sullivan
it will make less domestically and significantly less in China.
But yeah I guess being a Cameron project might give it an edge
Camden Foster
I'm glad they are over the whole Nanking thing.
Sebastian Roberts
>this crap didn't flop
honestly, fuck asian insects
Jackson Sanders
>t.
Gavin Campbell
You can't imagine, go to live.bilibili and see wealthy chinese youngsters being weeaboos as fuck on live stream.
They also have lots of pokemon plushies, so Detective Pikachu gonna go big there if they can handle the ugly mutt shit actor.
Isaac Adams
>it will never get a sequel
If James Cameron wants a sequel, he'll get one. No studio is going to say no to him. He prints money.
Ayden Sanders
>Alita gets a sequel
:D
>It's Pacific Rim 2 tier on directing, visuals and casting
D:
Dominic Bennett
>based Jim letting someone shit all over on his waifu
Dominic Wood
>strongg womyn slay kween
Alright listen here you little shit don't you ever speak of my daughter that way again
Robert Hall
This flick is based and red pilled, soibois need not apply
Jose Garcia
>AHHHHHHHH SAVE ME CHINA
Cameron Hernandez
it needs exactly 6 gorillion dollars.
Luke Martin
Based, yes, redpilled, no.
Adam Foster
That doesnt include china or japan.
Henry Jackson
>"strongg womyn slay kween"
This. Why are people eating this shit up
Luke Diaz
It’s only been out for two weeks, faggot
Gavin Sanchez
lol retard
But seriously that's a lot of empty talk and I'm sure the movie has already made back it's money
Carter Hall
>now it's suddenly 680
AHEM
$700 TRILLION
Christian Rodriguez
>"strongg womyn slay kween"
I was not mad because she wasn't cocky about it.
Nathan Harris
thatsalottanuts!
Robert Jenkins
>$700 mi in China and Japan alone
Dominic Moore
natalie blows the other two out of the water.
Angel King
>on you
You fucking schizophrenic partisan retard. Honest to god, you really think that way, don't you?
Ryder Gutierrez
yeah it does
Anthony Gray
It wasn't very good. Both Cameron and Rodriguez are capable of much better.
Jonathan Carter
>and I'm sure
What you are sure of was not the question, cuntanon.
Blake Collins
The time of release was awful for a kids movie (at least that’s how it’s perceived in most of the world) also not tied to any well known comic or cartoon series, they took a big risk with this one, it will probably be a flop if it doesn’t at least make it to 150M domestic or becomes the next pacific rim overseas before captain marvel gets out.
Josiah Collins
But where does the time three come in? The goalposts are moving here
Mason Phillips
uhh are people still seeing it in america? i figured that was it for it's run
James Stewart
>But where does the time three come in?
Cinemas take 55%-75%
Marketing is approx. as high as the budget
Taxes do the rest.
That's where the 3x comes from
Ian Reed
I kinda want to see it. Is it really any good? It looks like a fun sci-fi adventure, but shit, does the acting look bad in the trailer. Robert Rodriguez is hit or miss, too... and I kind of want to see "They Shall Not Grow Old" while I have the chance. Is Alitta worth it? Will it stick around for a bit longer?
Isaac Lee
it's good and remember to take your waifu with you.
Isaac Perry
Depends on your expectation and autism level. Are you somebody who will have a mental breakdown because the movie doesn't follow the source script to a T? Then don't see it. Are you somebody who can look past that kind of stuff and appreciate a *fun* movie for what it is? Then yeah, go see it.
Owen Phillips
And yet it floped
Lincoln Perry
what could this mean?
Jordan Price
But user - I don't have a waifu. I just have a husband
I actually was completely unaware of the source material existing until a couple days ago, so I think I'll be good in that regard. It does look fun, so I'll likely really enjoy it.
Jacob Young
My gf had low expectations and she ended up loving it to the moon. Same goes for me, altough I’m a sucker for Cameron movies. Go see it in an IMAX if you can, 3D is a must.
Connor Ortiz
The rule is 2x was production budget to break even (matches the $350M Fox is quoting) because of downstream revenue after its theatrical run. 2.5x is a comfortably margin and 3x is profit right in the theaters alone.
Jack Ramirez
It has at least another week left in American theaters, however it probably won’t break past 70M, Fox will be mad at Cameron and trash this project, he will need to pay for the sequels with his own money or wait for Avatar 2 to be a major success so they trust him again.
Robert Sanchez
Nope. Stay mad ratto
Ethan Gomez
About 10x the entire GDP of America and China combined
Aiden Wright
look forward to the sequel in 2046 after the avatar sequels are done
Dylan Hill
>give it a month
Blake Lewis

Anthony Powell
not an argument
Daniel Young
This. I saw it in imax and then on regular 2d screen and it was lacking that pop
Zachary Jackson
>RPO
what a turd honestly
Liam Long
whats wrong with her eyes?
Robert Sullivan
what a twist
Michael Rogers
I don't think I would have enjoyed it outside IMAX. It's an opportunity to indulge in some dumb sci-fi action with a cute girl at the center. The acting is really awkward and stilted. You can tell that they are essentially LARPing a japanese mango. I found myself trying to imagine what each scene and character might have looked like in the original manga. It genuinely bothers me that I liked it so much despite everything. I try to console myself that it has to be the original art and story seeping through the hollywood crap giving it soul.
Jordan Allen
Captain marvel will destroy this movie and show you what a REAL female superhero can do not some weeb nerd character made from a mans perspective of a strong female
Kevin Miller
ur waifu a shit
Luis Gonzalez
Most of her body is artificial (except her brains and spinal cord I think?) so they had to have her standout.
Oliver Flores
in this film, girl tells a black boy:
>It's been 300 years, get over it
What did Jim mean by this?
Dylan Lee
I think it’s more significant that it came from an Asian over a long past war, kinda like telling the audience it’s time to get over the Japs/Koreans/Vietnamese being enemies once and that it’s ok to appreciate Asian culture
Juan Lopez
>20% vs 80%
Kill yourselves amerimutts. You worthless pieces of shit.
Gabriel Carter
Joshua Garcia
1 trillion million billion
Isaiah Mitchell
Sebastian Scott
That's really a shame, it was the best mainstream action movie since Fury Road. Ok, MI:Fallout was really good too.
Wyatt Torres
>only 64 million from china
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
movies don't have legs in china you dumb fucks
FUCKING BLACK PANTHER MADE 65 MILLION THE FIRST WEEKEND IN CHINA
Austin Martin
$7.50 once a week.
Mason Russell
>only 64 million from china
Add to it that china's cinemas keep 75%.
Andrew Turner
user its all a shill operation you see cameron actually bought all those tickets with his own money just to make the movie look good
Jeremiah Taylor
>only made 10 cents and my right flip flop this weekend
BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY! THIS MOVIE WILL NEVER BREAK EVEN HAHAHAHA!
Cameron Torres
And the fucking ACADEMY AWARDED BLACK PANTHER made over a billion dollaridoos.
Kayden Lewis

What do they shit? Diarrhea?
David Kelly
>it's a Yea Forums tries to sneed out what feed means thread
Carson Harris
still a flop. Company keep only 25% from overseas. budget doesnt include marketing, ads, etc.
Isaiah Hill
Captain Fungus will unironically make less money than Alita worldwide. I will eat my Avatar bluray if I'm proven wrong.
Kayden Miller
Do you care about good writing?
Do you dislike cringe dialogue?
Then don't see it.
If all you require to be happy is a cute grill fighting, then go for it.
Austin Miller
hey! gimme back my flip-flop!
Wyatt Nguyen
The dialogue was fine.
Trolls can't stand anything other than Marvel quips.
Noah Myers
Funny how the rest of the world didn't care about Burger virtue-signaling...
...when that is who the Burgers are trying to impress.
Adam Kelly
Jim Cameron finds a way. Multiple sequels confirmed and Alita will guest star in Avatar 5
Aaron Kelly
>Funny how the rest of the world didn't care about Burger virtue-signaling
>Foreign:$646,853,595
David Butler
If you love capeshit, pleb dogshit and other various pleb pandering trash then you'll 100% love it.
Matthew Stewart
It will be to Marvel what Justice League was to DC, an utter flop, Imagine launching phase 4 of your flagship with the equivalent of a CW episode
Gabriel Allen
Chinese are also soulless bug people
Samuel Perry
Less than domestic, and that never happens for big-budget movies, anymore.
The world doesn't care how much burgers think they are heroes... for not hating blacks on sight.
Camden Martinez
Then why did every critic who gave it a rotten rating love Ghostbusthers and The Last Jedi?
Benjamin Morgan
>53,205,971 difference is huge
Ian Sullivan
No, it doesn't.
Henry Parker
Larson's back sticks out more then her ass.
Bentley Smith
>It’s only been out for two weeks, faggot
So it's made most of it's money then
Connor Rodriguez
the number is too large to express in text but whatever it is it'll never break even
Isaac Brown
lmao. Best meme to come out of alita generals. Would give the Holocaust never ending rise in death toll a run for it's money
