You are the most miserable person on this board how did you accomplish it?

I admit I just wanted racebait to win only to watch the political discourse burn in hellfire.

there is no pleasing these people, now they're saying you can't even be a cuck if you're white

Green Book was ok but what was their tax policy?

SHE'S BRINGING IT 'OME!

Because it's a worldview for children

Black Panther had a great chance of destroying the Oscars, but it failed. Hope the actors call them raciest so they will have to give them an best picture for Black Panther 2

Weren't there any better movies than these last year? The whole slate seems pretty weak overall.

This is going to sound edgy as fuck, but I think I finally understand the male impulse to rape.

I look at her and feel two things at once:

Utter disgust with her personality and full knowledge she's a horrible person who I would gladly throw in the gutter

Sexual attraction

The only clear reaction to that combination of feelings is rape. It satisfies both the lust and the rejection of her humanity.

Things and people that should have won over the shitters:
Bale
Dafoe
Lanthimos
First Man
Infinity war
Amy Adams
Sam Elliot
Emma Stone
Rachel Weisz
Sam Rockwell
Shoplifters
Whoever composed Blackkklansmans score

Things I'm happy with
Coleman
Spiderverse
Free Solo

Found the Oscars to be not so self-praising this year. It was still self-praising, naturally, but it was toned down a lot. Perhaps no host humbled it a bit and kept it focused on the winners.

Attached: brie oscars red carpet 2019.jpg (1367x1248, 197K)

BP winning best pic would have been better. it would have cemented the oscars as meaningless even in normies' minds. instead they're going to keep the pretense of artistic integrity going by awarding everything to artsy non-white and non-men movies (content-wise, ignore that most creators are white men) like green book. a full on joke winner would have been better.

I was secretly hoping it would win just so Yea Forums could meme it to hell

'Gypted

and then you remember films like The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly weren't even nominated for anything

it's impossible to predict classics, period

Disappointing and dissatisfying

Best Picture is generally a terrible way of actually spotting classics. It's been more miss than hit for the majority of the Oscars' lifetime.

Twenty years ago people who infuriated by Shakespeare in Love winning over Saving Private Ryan. A decade ago people were pissed off by Crash going over Brokeback Mountain. Now we have the likes of Green Book or Argo or whatever else.

Best Director has been a better award for seeing the top film for a long time.

it never had a chance, relax
t. thinks it's better than anything else nominated tonight

The House That Jack Built
Mandy
First Reformed
Burning
Can You Ever Forgive Me was better and not socially focused like all of them except Favorite.

I actually liked Green Book. Classic odd couple tropes always get me and the film didn't actually have much of a PC or WE WUZ message to it. One of my favourite scenes was when the doctor had to stay at the nigger hotel and had such disdain for his own kind he had to leave and get wasted at a bar he was unwelcome in himself. I went in expecting to hate it but was pleasantly surprised.

This, truly an over-rated movie, no idea how that clownish shit got so much love. It's TPM levels of bad.

shit, did not know that was her. Love it even more!

It’s true what they say. Meh chicks look hot next to ugly bitches.

based

he didn't deserve it for Moonlight tho

WE

Because Ledger died. That's literally it.

Moonlight was actually a decent winner, especially over La La Land which seemed destined to be the winner. Shape of Water too, unusual choice.

They love their "timely" saccharine films for best picture, Spotlight, Crash, Green Book, etc.

what made Spike have that reaction? quick rundown?

>It's TPM levels of bad.
Imagine believing this

I hate Brie Larson

don't forget all the edgy teen assholes walking around saying "why so serious" all the time

Funnily enough they actually picked a bizarre, unexpected choice for BP last year, del Toro's fish fucking sci-fi genre throwback. Couldnt' believe it.

I didn't say La La Land was bad, just that it seemed tailor made to win BP, it had everything the Academy likes bar a "nice, but inconsequential social message".

Moonlight and Shape of Water were just as bad. They're "Avant-garde" but shitty Oscarbait like all the rest.

>TPM
>bad
This is TPM country nigger

(((ira)))

get a life

>Spike Lee loses to Driving Miss Daisy again, 25 years later

He just wanted more fuck entusiasm from the gal

He didn't like about anything. The dead black dude's brother said the white guy was just his employee, and the guy who wrote the screenplay says the actual black dude the movie is based on approved of what he had written.

>>woman, black chick and gay guy heroes, white guy was villain. weird sex

Really, you couldn't believe it?

You don't even know what that term means other than using it as a vague insult.

Seconding this

>2010 - The King's Speech
>2011 - The Artist
>2012 - Argo
>2013 - 12 Years a Slave
>2014 - Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
>2015 - Spotlight
>2016 - Moonlight
>2017 - The Shape of Water
>2018 - Green Book

Will any of these movies truly be remembered?

neither do the academy.

Their kids are going to have the most green eyes in history.

I'm talking about the Academy, not Yea Forums.

And the strongest, most shapely jaws

Kek.
The first thing that i though, user.

Birdman and maybe Shape of Water for concept alone.
Rest, no way

What the fuck? I never knew that was her. That's great!

fucking topkek

Oscars 6.7/10

Red Carpet was actually pretty great with a few new stars and that black fags crazy dress suit, I want to FUCK Alicia Malone and so shocked she got Oscar worthy.

No host is better than Jimmy Kimmel but worse than a legit host. They tried to cut it down to 3 hours but still did a 3.5 hours lol

Green Book was the worst possible winner because Oscars wanted notoriety and this may cause the ratings to plunge worse.

Almost every winner felt hollow or low budget it was meh. Superhero movies getting recognized is interesting though. I think people are deep down getting sick of Mexican winners and want to see American stories win but can't admit it in fear of being racist. Happy for Spike Lee...I guess.

The musical performances were sparse but nice and we are all benefiting from no 5 minute interpretive dance numbers. People want to see more entertainment next year IMO. Ricky Gervais please!

Bottom line, I don't feel like I regret watching it but I don't see a lot to talk about in the morning.

which ep is this from?

Birdman if you're a hipster

The King's Speech was alright, Argo is like a movie you could watch if it was playing on cable.

You faggots are like the "foodies" in /ck/ who rave about fast food.

Also in Mitchell and Webb Look and Peep Show

Attached: Numberwang.jpg (396x222, 71K)

Birdman yes. The Artist purely because of the silent film gimmick same with Shape of Water and the fish sex. The King's Speech maybe because normies love royalty and WWII

The Gaga

This was a pretty weak year for the nominations. Annihilation and First Reformed should have been nominated over Black Panther and Green Book.

Wall any movie post 2010 be remembered? other than the dark knight rises

Imagine unironically thinking that Black Panther is better than The Dark Knight
Just how damaged does your brain have to be

Blade Runner 2049

Mad Max Fury Road I guess

The Shape of Water sucks its about a woman who wants to fuck a fishman 0/10 stars

Bohemian Rhapsody was pretty good, though

Imagine being this black.

Black Panther is overrated garbage that won awards because "MUH NIGRARY". It's an affirmative action win. That's literally it.

The Artist is the most forgotten Best Picture winner of all time, prove me wrong. In fact it got a ton of awards in 2011, BP, Best Director, Best Actor, etc. And it basically ceased to exist as soon as the ceremony ended.

Gladiator, Return of the King, Departed, and No Country they got right. 2007 I guess would've been impossible for them to fuck up regardless of who won just because of how strong that year was. Return of the King sweeping will never be topped though.

>The King's Speech is simplistic but decently told story that people from future gens could enjoy
>The Artist is just an excuse for them to say "WOWZERS THE FIRST SILENT WINNER SINCE WINGS!!!11"
>Argo is only memorable for one line
>12 Years a Slave is another one in the pile of slavery flicks, but since it's one of the more acclaimed ones, it'll surely go down in history
>Birdman is 100% a product of our times, it'll either be seen as absolutely dated and unenjoyable years later or it'll be looked at as insightfully representative of our period
>Spotlight is probably the least-attention grabbing movie ever made
>Moonlight will be looked back on as long as there's hipster lefties dominating the film community. General audiences though, absolutely not.
>The Shape of Water has a fascinating concept and a captivating aesthetic, it'll at least be a famous piece of pop culture for this decade.
>Green Book is tailor made to be a crowd pleaser, so it'll still be enjoyed no doubt, maybe not remembered by everyone for too long though.

Crash is remembered solely for winning the oscar.

Johann Johannsen and Gary Kurtz

>1999 - American Beauty

Will any of these movies truly be remembered?

>speech ends with random shoutout to Carrie Fischer
Made the ending that much more abrupt

LOTR, No Country For Old Men were really great winners. Departed was more of a "career recognition" for Scorsese.

Crash has become a punchline, the go to "undeserving winner".

>dreamcast cuck
no wonder

Thanks for that based rundown will screencap and save

I'm glad I skipped most of it

LOtR will be remembed the longest, probably long after it’s painfully dated.

>Best film from two generation defining artists
>I mean, it's the most famous movie about India that people can name
>Generic war movie

It's like they forgot nobody cares about Star Wars anymore

Always remember the Muslims on 9/11. This is why the Academy didn't want the movie to win.

all except shakespeare

>>Argo is only memorable for one line
???

not a good sign for the line

Dances With Wolves is kinda forgotten nowadays but the ''whitey steal land'' theme this movie set for the industry is still present, same with Schindler's List's onslaught of holocaust movies coming out at the wake of the fall of the USSR and a perfect opportunity to show people an even worse genocide.

Surprisingly solid list though.

>yes

>1999 - American Beauty
kinda. Feels very dated now

It got 8000+ replies, maybe even more

Everything except Dances With Wolves and Shakespeare in Love is memorable (though the latter was the first oscar BP bought by a producer).

It was actually a reminder to everyone to not overdo it on the coke at the after parties.

Yes, as the only comparison Avatar haters know but haven't seen

Actually the 90s were ok for memorability.

Crash was a great movie, I don't know what the fuck you're all on about.

Holy shit they actually used to pick iconic movies that people remember. Or else I’m just old.

Glad this movie won now

Can't make white people ever feel good EVER.
Hey, where's the Budwiser??

I don't remember this scene from Desperate Housewives

good riddance
gambling is degeneracy

Most of those are very remembered, though Dances with Wolves is only remembered for the concept, English Patient no one has ever heard one today, and Shakespeare in Love has been completely forgotten because Crash took its place as the prototypical undeserving winner example.

I think American Beauty isn't actually well remembered either, people thought it was an instant classic but it's been forgotten in pop culture since. The rest of the winners are very well rememebered.

>8:10 pm LA time zone

NOW HOW THE FUCK DID (((THEY)) DO THAT WITH IN SUCH A SHORT TIME FRAME from it being aired?

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-02-25 at 12.03.35 AM.png (1346x762, 792K)

I'm glad Rami and Cuaron won

Two rare, inspired choices.

Everything except Shakespeare in Love which was just a favor to Harvey Weinstein in exchange for money and orgies (not even joking).

Attached: image.jpg (928x523, 103K)

90s were better than most decades but every decade is at minimum, half terrible winners no one remembers.

Wolves- only played in public education history classes
Lambs- Yes, it's actually well made/ acted, + lotion on the skin
Unforgiven- Who? 90's Westerns don't stand
Schindler's List- Not perfect, still talked about
Gump- Yes, engrained in US culture
Braveheart- Dad movie
English Patient- who? no
Titanic- Yes, one of the most remembered
Shakespeare- fuck off, stylistic but forgettable
American Beauty- Overrated, but still quality and made an indent

literally all of them.

where the 80s bub

>naming your daughter after a fruit

Based Rami taking Oscars and bagging fine pale pussy

She is currently dating a soft-butch white woman

Unforgiven is one of the best westerns. Its premise is basically the 'end' of the wild west, and given Clint's history and age, and the genre in general, it's top tier.

the favourite, cold war and vice were the only decent movies nominated so of course they win next to nothing

>2003 - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
That trash won? wtf

Oh come on. No one remembers the Hurt Locker or a Beautiful Mind
Even in 2009 the big news wasn't Hurt Locker winning, it was Avatar not winning

Give me a minute
Last one though

Better best picture winner than Green Book

Attached: 220px-God_of_War_4_cover.jpg (220x220, 17K)

you'd think she'd wear closed-toed shoes with that kind of situation

BlacKkKlansman would have been a much better film if it ended with Ron opening the door without showing the viewer who's on the other side and if they dropped the last 5 minutes of Charlottesville/Trump clips that felt like they were ripped from a Michael Moore filme

Attached: 1352067351618.gif (286x237, 2M)

All are classics except for English Patient and Shakespeare.

>1980 - Ordinary People
>1981 - Chariots of Fire
>1982 - Gandhi
>1983 - Terms of Endearment
>1984 - Amadeus
>1985 - Out of Africa
>1986 - Platoon
>1987 - The Last Emperor
>1988 - Rain Man
>1989 - Driving Miss Daisy

Will any of these movies truly be remembered?

gladiator is 10/10
rotk because its part of the greatest trilogy

I got to rewatch Birdman on the telly the other day and I gotta say the acting and pacing remain stand out. It flew by, pretty enjoyable.

Only Platoon and even then that's a pretty forgetable nam film when nam films were getting boring

the rest I have no idea, maybe 1982's Ghandi which is honestly an insult because 1982 was the best year for film

woosh.

>Argo is only memorable for one line
which line?

Rain Man is definitely remembered

Well I remember them and so do my peers

>Won because it was directed by an actor
>Theme song and beach scene, not much else
>History class film
>ummm, it was written by a writer of the Simpsons???
>Yes
>Stars 2 A-listers, not much appeal apart from that
>Yes
>History class film from acclaimed director
>Definitive movie about autism, pop culture wise
>No

dinduigi

based

Argo fuck yourself

The issue here is the further you go back, only the absolute all time famous classics are remembered. Come back in twenty years and lots of memorable films from this decade won't be recognized by that newest generation at all.

I bet if you asked in 1989, lots of those films would have been said to be memorable.

Christian Bale was robbed

Your five right right fingers?

Wow. Really worthy winner.
Affleck wasn't even nominated for Best Director that year, and it won BP anyway.

gay always wins

One impersonation or a different impersonation. I prefer an original performance.

>Affleck wasn't even nominated for Best Director that year
believe me, they were REALLY fucking trying to push him back then, even though he didn't deserve it
