What happens when someone knows the alien language and through it learns that they will be the next Hitler, so they decide to kill themselves?
This shit literally makes no logical sense. Why do people defend this flick?

You literally didnt understand the movie. Try reading the book, im not memeing you
Point of the story was about transcendence, the linguists become enlightened. Movie completely missed the point with
>much time travel lmao
You are literally making no logical sense, I don't have the faintest idea of your stupid Hitler comment.
In fact, you gave me a headache. Thanks.
brainlet
this film is terrible
The suicide attempt would have to fail and somehow lead to becoming hitler in the future
Why did she tell Hawkeye the child will have cancer? She's seen the future and knows it only causes them to divorce and puts a huge strain on the kid. She could have just kept her mouth shut and the kid would grow up with a father.
Adams can’t act for shit
extremely shite movie
WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT OP?? I literally just got done watching this out of the fucking blue cause I hadn't seen it and figured I'd come on here and see what others thought about it? How the fuck is there a thread about this?? What are the fucking odds?
nerd
fag
She can't change anything you dummy, it's a determined setting.
Finally someone says, it she actually can't act for shit it
Have you heard of this thing called coincidence?
And yet she was able to find the words from the future to tell the Chinese guy to get his help.
>Yea Forums literally thinks this movie had timetravel
No wonder capeshit is always half the catalogue
Fake and gay they ruined the short story
I knew that you were going to come here to talk about it so I decided to post the thread. :)
>you will get in a car crash and die 5 minutes from now
>gets in car his anyways
The fact that she was going to do that was already pre-determined and made retrocausal sense.
Someone who has time is a flat circle powers and would kill themselves if they saw themselves becoming future hitler would not see themselves become future hitler in the first place
You missed the point of the entire film, there is no "deciding" or other option in the non linear narrative.
Once she grasps the non linear language she experiences time simultaneously. Time doesn't move from A to B, the way humans perceive it. It's happening all at once. The alien language lets her perceive it the same way as the aliens.
That's why its' predetermined, she can't change anything. It's not like she views her future like a youtube video and then continues with her life normally.
There is no other choice available, she never could've changed her decisions because all of the past, present and future decisions are interconnected and experienced at the same "time". That's why it's non linear, there is no A or B point. She can't change it just like Abbott can't change the fact that he will die from the bomb.
Oh yeah? Well what about the golden path?
Then why did she talk to the Chinese man? If she saw the issue resolved in the future, she could have just sat on her ass all day just knowing it would work itself out in the end. What's the point in taking any action?
WTF does Hitler have to do with this movie?
Four D ayy lmao
>this mental midget struggling to comprehend a whatever non linear narrative
Because that's how it was supposed to happen you goddamn idiot. It's all predetermined.
So when you learn the language you die and become a ghost viewing all parts of your life at once.
Jesus what a fucking spastic.
Just because you know you're an actor in a play doesn't mean you don't participate.
That's the most retarded comparison I've heard in my life. Please end your life at your earliest convenience.
Actually, upon a second reading I realized my post was a bit harsh. While I still don't like your comparison, I want to apologize for the tone of my reply.
I have to poop
>said that right after I pooped
confirmed for nonlinear thinker who's playing devil's advocate and testing us linearlets' ability to understand nonlinear thinking
You'd absolutely fail every time you tried to kill yourself, going as far as comical shit like the gun jamming every time.
The "time travel" element was a way to portray an escape from the eternal recurrence that's why the alien symbols were always in the form of broken circles. The aliens are trying to help the humans understand that their problems exist outside of time because If time isn't linear then all problems continue to reoccur not because they exist on one timeline but because the problems remains unsolved in all possible timelines this is contrasted by the Chinese who are using chess as a medium for communicating with the aliens which is portrayed as dangerous because chess is limiting their communication to predefined outcomes and temporary solutions but the aliens are trying to break the limited matrix of human comprehension. The point is that the protag isn't actually seeing a set in stone future but the potential of all possible futures allowing her to select the best outcome so in the end if she saw herself as Hitler she wouldn't select it unless she actually wanted to.
